In Japan, this paper is called "postcards for picture letter." Usually it is a piece of thin washi or Chinese rice paper mounted on a piece of cardboard. It's not similar to watercolor paper because these kinds of paper are made to promote ink absorbency, which is required for ink painting (Sumi-e, ink wash painting). If you are interested, google "etegami". The ink they used in the video is Japanese or Chinese ink stick. It is not black ink like india ink.
