Dawn doesn't kill insects because it poisons them. Insects breathe through their skin. Dawn puts a film over the pores which seals them. The insects actually suffocate. That is why it is strong enough to kill spiders, too.

The reason bugs are so prevalent because people kill the helpful bugs such as wasp, spiders, lacewing, etc. Just one of the 3 bugs listed could kill thousands of other unwanted bugs. Either way soap is better than toxic poison. Although the company who makes Dawn is toxic poison.

It also works if your pets bring fleas into the home. At night set a small lamp in the floor and put a bowl of water mixed with dawn close to it. As they go to the light they go to a watery death. Depending on how bad they are depends on how many nights you need to do it.

In the ice pack if you add a little rubbing alcohol it won't freeze solid and makes a good ice pack for injuries also in your spray bottle for the bug spray if you put the water in the bottle first then add the Dawn soap it won't suds up so bad. Dawn dish soap has so many great uses. We always keep a big bottle on hand. Great for removing grease or oil from clothing too !

Allow this ol' Wyoming country boy to give you one of the best tick removal tips ever: Upon discovery of the embedded tick, place a single drop of Dawn on the tick, and watch Mother Nature take her course! The tick will withdraw his head from the skin and attempt to skedaddle, at which point you'll have a pair of tweezers with which to take him into custody. What you do with him after that is your business.

I use Dawn a lot. I mix tsp Dawn, 10 drops of spearmint essential oil, 10 drops of pepermint oil, 10 drop lavender oil.. Mix wirh 4 cups water. Spray around outside doors..windows. And inside heater vents. Spray in garage around walls. Spiders hate it...bugs hate it. If you have them coming in a particular area, add some to cotton balls..leave in those spots. Spray at least once a week during bug season. Get rid of spiders. Great for RV campers too. Have fleas on pet? Put dog in tub. As you are adding water, immediately Take Dawn lather up in dawn in your hand with some water. Put all the way around dogs neck. On outside of dogs ears and outside of dogs butt. Add some squirts to water. As you pour water from bath over dog, fleas run for cover to hide in dogs cavities.. Ears, eyes, nose, butt. They stay there till bath is over and then jump back out after bath is done. Using this method, fleas run right into dawn barrier you created around these areas..and die!!!!! I have watched this and it is crazy!!! A groomer told me about this. Last.. Clean pet urin on floors.. I use Dawn, Vinager and water. I also use it in my shower..sparklung clean.

When I was in college I figured out it works well for laundry too. Just a little will do you. A little directly on stains works too. Maybe not as well as some stain removers but it works pretty well. It works particularly well on grease/oil stains. It is a good, all around cleaner but really, any dish washing liquid works. lol Just use very sparingly in a dishwasher. When I was a teen I filled the cup in the dishwasher and it really did create bubbles that covered the entire floor of the kitchen, just like on some old comedies. No exaggerating, there was a foot plus of bubbles covering the kitchen floor and the vent was blowing some up into the air. In my defense, it does say "dish washing liquid" on the bottle. As a bonus, mom never asked me to wash the dishes again. :)

I've been using Dawn for years, to Break up the water retention in potting soils and regular old Top Soils. Most of the potting soils you buy, either have spagnum peat moss, Cocoa Coir or some type of pine bark mulch. A drop of Dawn in your watering can will break the surface tension allowing the water to penetrate the soil much quicker and evenly. Instead of running off or partially soaking your soil. Which can lead to unhealthy root system. I'm definitely going to try the other uses of this amazing multi application detergent. Thanks for the tips!

It only dries up what is exposed. The roots are alive as usual and the grass and weeds will be back in a short amount of time. You have got to stay after them and it soon becomes work but it will knock back the tops, but for short term only. You will tire of it quickly most likely.

joe z Salt does exactly that to the soil at some point. I'll stick with my "glyphosate" forever, it is magical in many ways. I won't use the Round-Up brand, too expensive. I bought a gallon of the very concentrated stuff at Attwood's for 19.99. Home Depot sells the same brand for only about 23 dollars a gallon. It makes dozens of gallons at about 800% cheaper the R-Up.

Thank you for this video! I would like to add that if you work outside, I'm sure you know all about poison ivy, oak and sumac. I have learned that through avoidance, identification and wearing protective clothing are the best methods of not getting Dawn on your skin. Unfortunately, you come across situations where you just can't avoid it. Whether it be you are camping, playing with your pet or just happen to accidentally come across it, Dawn works wonders. All of the plants I mentioned have one thing in common and that is they all contain Urushiol Oil. Urushiol oil is what gets onto your skin that cause the rash. If you think that you hav come in contact with any plant that contains urushiol oil, make sure to take a warm shower and use plenty of Dawn to remove/strip the oil from your skin. Wash, rinse and repeat so that you get qll off of the oil off of your skin. Make sure to concentrate on washing the areas around your ankles, hands and forearms. I'm in my early 40's and I'm extremely allergic to poison ivy and the like. Knock on wood, by showering with Dawn, I haven't had an outbreak in over 15 years. Take care folks and I hope this helps you out! Peace
