I find it deceptive that it wasn't mention in documentary that the part of the shroud taken for the carbon dating was only the portion which was mended after the fire by the nuns. And the investigation that only a certain kind radiation can produce that image on the shroud was also not included in this documentary.

The earliest drawings of Jesus during the 2nd and 3rd century showed him with short, curly hair and cropped beard. He looked like a normal man of that time so much so that Judas had to kiss Him to point Him out to the guards. The long hair and long beard look came from the Byzantine era painters to make Him stand out and seem more dignified than His disciples.

Jesus with long hair has been depicted after the sroud of Turin got public. At first he had short hair and a clean shaven face, due to the influence of the Greek culture at the time.

Relics were big in the Middle Ages. Body parts of supposed "saints" were in a lot of churches. There were so many bones traveling around no way the relics belonged to whom the church said they did. I look at the Shroud as another piece of that tradition. People are desperate to connect to something physical in their faith. The Holy Face of Alicante, Spain, over 500 years of devotion, is another one. "The Holy Face of Jesus, the supposed cloth that St Veronica used to dry the face of Christ on the way to the Calvary, has been at the heart of one of Alicante’s biggest religious festivals since 1489." The face looks amateurish. But people are going to believe what they "need" to believe....

mkay, so the blood splatter analyst assumes a horizontal arm and a 90 degree perpendicular blood and makes no allowance for the fact that a crucifixion involved the drag downwards on the actual nail wounds?

That experiment with the blood sponge is embarrassing! 😂🤣🤣 Maybe the sword stuck in his chest went through him and came out on the other side of the body, that's why you can see some blood stains on his back too!

If one’s existence is only proved by a single piece of cloth, then I seriously doubt his existence. Rather call it a myth! No hate here but very hard to believe

if it is a fake, being how we're basically space age people technologically compared to anyone before the 20th century, why cant some brainiac/einstein not only recreate it to a thread, but also explain how someone did it in the 14th century? if it is a fake there would be a perfect clone of it by now easily...easily!

I wonder what people think about the theory that the Shroud was created as a result of the torture of the last Templar Grandmaster Jacques de Molay in the 1300's just before he was eventually burned at the stake?

why would they use a linnen shroud for de Molay? the man on the shroud has the exact wounds that the gospel says Jesus endured before and at his crucifixion, de Molay was burned at the stake....why would they put a crown of thorns on the head of de Molay? why would they put a wound in his side?

Whether it's real or not still does not prove it's the cloth that covered Jesus. There were hundreds of people being crucified in that, and all men had this same look to them in that place at that time. So no one can say for certain who's image that is. It could be anyone.

Wasn't it a Jweish holiday when Jesus was crusified and he only hung on the cross for one day . That's why the belief he rose after 3 days... with lots of aloe and help from his friends. Catholic's paid enormous amounts of money for relics to be housed in their Cathedrals . Really how many 100 dreads of yrs later...
