My pores are disgustingly large. I'm 57 and when I look in the mirror they're looking back at me. I never knew that with oily skin you should moisturize. You gave a great amount of tips for me to improve me skin. Thanks for your informative video.

I think most people way back thought that keeping the face and pores clean was best when in actuality keeping the face moisturized is key even with oily skin!I use ceraVe, it’s affordable and still a dermatological product, it’s great! Blessings to you! I wish us luck with our pores hehe

To be honest I didn't try it. I've been exfoliating to get rid of dead skin and moisturizing. These deep craters need a dermatologist procedure that'll cost money. I learned to love me . Just don't look in the mirror with reading glasses on 😢😅😅@incompetent_echo

I love the LA Roche 70spf cream... works like a gem..naturium niacinimide is great too light and dewy. For me after the 70spf I blot my paraben toxin free $3 baby powder from Target. It has a tender white cast that I blot and ad some color here and there...but it keeps my pores very minimal all day. My skin is Caucasian. However, it may be possible to add color powders over the baby powder maybe 🤔

Everything you’ve stated matches my own experiences! Tretinoin + sunscreen absolutely changed my skin (include pore size) for the better. After this, like you mentioned, in-office chemical peels/microneedling/resurfacing lasers did another round of amazing benefits (including pore size) as I’ve gotten older. Personally, I had Clear & Brilliant instead of Fraxel (since I have melasma). AHA/BHA was also beneficial with the caveat that I only chemically exfoliate 1x/week and my pore size looked the best 1-2 days after. Niacinamide (I used LRP double repair) also helped but probably the least out of the ones listed). The idea to keep the skin hydrated and plump whilst maintaining a balance of reducing congestion (quite a learning curve! I think this is the point where people like to over-exfoliate!). Great tips!

I recently started having eczema on my face (I’m 44 and think it’s hormonal). I read that I shouldn’t use retinols as it can cause further breakdown of the skin barrier. I’ve been using Tretinoin and salicylic acid for a few years and really don’t want to stop. Is there anything I could add to my routine to help my skin not freak out?

It might have! I also used salicylic acid and I started getting so many stubborn zits... You have something called a skin barrier and it can be damaged. Granted, I'm on tretinoin, but the schedule that really really worked for skin and made it much less prone to zits is this: in the morning: Wash my face with only warm water to get the products from the night before off... It has to be warm since warmer temperatures melt lipids/sebum better, but you don't want to irritate/dry out your skin with hot water. I use a thick moisturizer and sunscreen. At PM I cleanse my face with an oil-based cleanser to get the sunscreen off and then use something soapy (like a water-based cleanser) to get the oil residue off. Then I put on tretinoin and then moisturize again like hell-- then rinse and repeat. I've recently switched to a lighter moisturizer bc my skin is a bit more resilient and thick moisturizers have become a bit clogging but at first, it worked well since my skin was so weak

You are like me. Possibly you have dry skin too. Salicylic acid can be used but we got to be really careful about it, maybe is better to not even use it. Try to use a skin care friendly to dry skin and see what happens. It works for me. All my skin care is for dry skin and over time is getting so much better!!

Pore size is also Genetic! If you also have deep acne scars, no over the counter treatment is going to make those completely better. It is what it is. Salicylic Acid can only do so much. It’s meant to clean out those pore. It’s not meant to get rid of scars. So you may be asking too much as well as asking SA to do things it’s not meant to do. I know that’s not good news for your situation. I’m a retired Licensed Esthetician. I’d refer you to a Dermatologist to look into laser treatments to help with your acne scars. 😊 I think you and a few others are expected more from it than it’s capable of. Best wishes for your journey to healthier skin

Could you advise on steps to apply skin care products for pore minimize? For morning and night time.. etc, For example, moisturizer and sunscreen which one should apply first? And, what going on if we use toner contains AHA/BHA, then we use serum with containing Niacinamide , then with cream with containing Niacianamide?

I am 26 y/o. I have open pores on my nose. I didn't have acne on my nose, nor any blackheads. But still i have open pores. I don't have any skincare routine. Just wash my face with a salicylic acid facewash. So my question is, can it be because of skin ageing?

what do u mean by open pores? Pores are always open and everyone has pores. I'd say that everyone that is 15 or older has visible pores. Do u mean your pores got bigger on your nose? Tbh that's totally normal cs when u age ur skin loses its elasticity. Your skin can also have sun damage and your pores can be clogged? Do you have whiteheads? If you're rlly rough with your skin pores can also become bigger. I don't get the obsession w pores bcs anyone has em and it's inevitable. Unless someone gets rlly close they aren't obvious. Unless you have rlly big ones which i doubt cs you're pretty young. Anyways, always use an SPF to protect your skin even if you don't see any sun. Exfoliate if your pores are clogged and moisturize your skin for that healthy glow.

I’m confused about steaming because I was going to a skin spa that is in the dermatologist office and they always steamed and then did extractions for congestion and pores. My skin was always really good and the esthetician said with oily skin it’s sometimes necessary because oily skin is a bit thicker. My skin was glowing and clear. I see a lot of things saying not to steam but it’s like the only thing that I’ve been able to see results from. I used Paula’s Choice BHA for 2 years and never saw any improvement in clogged pores and texture.

Keep doing it! Just because people say it doesn’t make it right for you. It makes sense because that sebum can be thick. If it’s waxy, warming it up could make it easier to remove. I also think the steak hydrates your skin and makes it more pliable

It has antiandrogenic effect and andrgenic hormones control the sebaceous glands in your pores; the more androgens in your skin, the more oil the sebaceous glands produce, enlarging the pores.

I have minor pock marks on my cheeks from skin picking ingrown hairs caused from PCOS hair growth but I don't have large pores. I never have. And as for ethnic predisposition to pore size that seems rather racist when humans vary genetically from each other that trying to state sharing ethnicity makes people similar genetically is archaic. Obviously cultural practices will create similar outcomes like how most people who use tretinoin tend to look great. It's the act of implementing a treatment that gave various unrelated people the same result but does their similar outcome make them the same genetically? I just find race ideology unnecessary and I the context of science absurd. People need to make smarter generalizations and trying to clump people together based on ancestry is so silly when basic knowledge of biological indicates race isn't biological. Why not state what skin types are prone to larger pores? Be specific if possible.
