Shrek has a Scottish accent because, when Mike Myers was figuring out what voice to use, decided to match his father's accent, who was Scottish. He explained it in an interview.

The actress runs off stage during the wedding scene when the fairytale creatures come on, and is momentarily replaced by a standin. She has about a minute to get green and put on a fat suit and she reappears on stage during the magic scene and that's covered up with lighting effects

Fiona has another actor go on as she’s going off and she has about a minute in a half to put a face and body paint and a skit then as she’s goes to the back of a prop and the recording goes on then the stand in goes behind the prop and then it countinues on as usual

Most stage lights are LED's now thankfully. That certainly helps keep the temps manageable. I'm sure he's happy to get out of it every night though.

He would make a great phantom. He has nice rich voice.

Gabriella Lehman Phantom wears a mask anyway so why does it matter? Also, saying he doesn't look like Phantom is a compliment since it implies he doesn't have deformed face and all.

I love Shrek! I worked this show (makeup assistant) as a local in Schenectady, NY @ Proctors Theater! This was an awesome cast and it inspired me to take my makeup career to the next level! keep up the hard work!!

He said he used a Scottish accent because that was the voice his mother used to read bedtime stories to him in. It was really sweet how he paid tribute to his mom like that.

I am glad he kept the Scottish accent. Scottish is Life!

Eric, that's not true about the Phantom being too old!!! Ramin Karimloo was 28 when he first played the Phantom....what's funny is that Ramin even expressed interest in playing Shrek!!!!

I worked with Erik this summer. He’s a great guy who is so funny and such a trickster. I just did Mama Mia in Sacramento with him. I was Crew, but he would mess with some of us in a good natured way. I would love to work with him again!
