ABOUT NAKSHATRAS:
'Vedic' astrology has a complex system of stars aka 'nakshatras' or 'lunar mansions' working behind the scenes of the 'rashis' that are further related to 'deities' and 'mantras' found in the 'Vedas'.
In this series, I will briefly discuss the energy of each 'nakshatra' every day, following the Moon through his journey across the sky around the Earth.
In each video I will talk briefly about the 'nakshatra', its energy, its significance and also how planetary placements here influence your life and what they guide is towards.
This video is about the nakshatra of 'Shravana'', which is the 22nd 'nakshatra' out of a total of 27 and what its energy is like.
ABOUT SHRAVANA NAKSHATRA:
Ruled by the twin influences of 'Vishnu' and 'Chandra', this is one 'nakshatra' that is as much about self reflection and nourishment as it is about listening, learning and preserving.
Infact, the symbolism of this 'nakshatra' contains both the ear and 'three footsteps'. These 3 footsteps are related with the 'Vaamana avtar' of Lord Vishnu and seek to bring one's awareness to the all encompassing energy of unity that unites all of existence with a sinle universal consciousness.
The lessons of this 'nakshatra' are to learn to listen. This is as much about listening in to cosmic knowledge as it is about listening to advice, reason, feedback, inputs and knowledge.
Why? Because in the story of the 'Vaamana avtar' thr great Raja Bali was a devotee of Vishnu who despite being an 'asura' had gain total control, authority and respect of the 'lokas' including the 'deva loka'. On the day of the final 'yajna' that had the power to grant him total victory over the entire universe as its unanimous and fairly chosen leader, he chooses to overlook the advice of his Guru 'Shukracharya' and confidently brag to a midget brahmin that any of his wishes would be immediately fulfilled.
The midget brahmin turned out to be Lord Vishnu in disguise who was testing Bali on his fairness and ability to see through illusion. He asked Bali for 'three steps of land' which Bali amusedly agreed to grant despite constant interventions by his Guru to see through the illusion.
So then Lord Vishnu in the Vaaamana avtra proceeded to take 3 steps within which he is said to have measured the entire universe. This was obviously not what Bali could provide and hence the 'yajna' became unsuccessful and Bali ended up being pushed back to ruling only thr underworld, the right place of the 'asuras'.
The natives dominated by the energy of this 'nakshatra' are reflective, contemplative, intelligent, observant and intuitive. This 'nakshatra' creates brilliant artistis, entrepreneurs, engineers, musicians, social activists, leaders and innovators.
'Shravana' is the energy of constant growth and union with the superconsciousness.
