ABOUT SATURN AS A 'GRAHA' ('SHANI DEVA')
Astronomically, Saturn is the planet that is almost at the end of the solar system. Yes there are other planets that come beyond it but they're much further away in proportion to the inner planets one the other side of the asteroid belt and then the gas super giants that are Jupiter and Saturn.
In the solar system, Saturn actually plays a huge rule in protecting the Earth from vagrant asteroids that can smash into it and end all life. Saturn's gravitation is in many ways a protective shield for the inner solar system.
In 'Vedic' astrology, Saturn or 'Shani' is the planet of hard work, struggle, stamina, resilience, business and discipline.
Saturn can be a very restrictive planet as it teaches through difficulties and often gives the native many problems in the area of life represented by the house that Saturn sits in. This is why most people hope to have Saturn in a good placement and giving good results otherwise they fear bad things might happen to them. At the very least, with a tough Saturn placement, people expect a tough life.
See 'Shani' is the 'deva' of justice and order. That is why it is famously said "Saturn delays but never denies."
SATURN IN SECOND HOUSE OF BIRTH CHART
When Saturn is placed in the second house, it is in the place of a friend since second house corresponds to the natural sign of 'Taurus', which is ruled by Venus who is friends with Saturn.
However, since the second house is a very important house in terms of all practical matters of finances, nourishment, eyesight, teeth, family, fixed assets, family lineage and values and Saturn is well slow, steady and 'frugal' in nature unlike Venus who is luxurious, all inclusive and generally indulgent, this placement becomes tough to channel in the native's dealings in all manners of finances, savings and wealth.
The planet in the second house is usually quite helpful to the individual's values, assets and finances. Saturn here brings a challenge and 'lack' in these areas in order to force the individual to work harder for these things.
What do I mean by that?
I mean that if you have let's say the North node 'Rahu' in the 2nd, then it naturally lends a drive and motivation to take action and develop the significations of the 2nd house.
Similarly let's say you have Sun in 2nd house, it makes you quite confident and courageous wrt your expression and interactions with others and the relationship with your family of birth, your assets and a natural 'confidence' in voicing your opinions.
Similarly, Saturn placed in the second is lending a lot of his qualities to the individual's ''management' of assets, wealth and self worth while also challenging him with Saturn's own weaknesses such as slowness, struggle, lack and frustration.
All in all, this means the individual has to often struggle for the basics of life. Like the basics of food, shelter and clothing! (unless there are helpful aspects by Venus or Jupiter).
However this doesn't mean that it is necessarily harmful or bad. In fact, a lot of famous and highly successful, rich people in the world have Saturn in the second house. If you study them however, or if you study their lives.. you will find a lot of Saturnian patterns of 'lack', conflict or struggle in some way, when it comes to management of their resources.
These people learn from the struggles of life how to be frugal and create more with less.

It’s a very tough placement. The first half of your life everything seems like a big fat NO from the universe. I’m now 45 and only now things are lightening up. A lot of tough life lessons as well.

Very true with Saturn 2nd I started a stable job at 45 late in life but worked sill am 25 year I'm 70ty can't retire till 74 hard lesson and school very hard for me with mercury ret conj Saturn Scorpio
Here is a one liner for Saturn in 2nd house: Saturn denies everything the native would need to survive let alone wants. Later Saturn may give some resources to survive but mainly it kills desire/detaches from everything.
Raised by a Saturn in the 2nd house parent, while I have it in the 12th. One thing that always bugged me was this person being way too conservative with money and spending. Saving for rainy days, the future, and retirement is great, but you shouldn't waste away the prime years of your life when you're healthy and most able. There has to be a balance ensuring you create good memories and keep you mentally and emotionally well on the way to old age.

I think the trust issue stems from their realisation that humans don't value morality and ideals as much as they should. As for insecuritues, they do have loads of them. However, once the realisation of the power you hold starts growing on you, they starts evaporating. It's like fixing your vision LoL. Directing your vision inward and deriving strength from you hold withing. I have this placement too. And, it's not been easy.

I have saturn 2h square my 12h sun. Life full of suffering and no support from family . Family has been my enemy. Also wrk hard for nothing and when i gain things ...lots of family and friends act jealous and not supportive. Moved around alot as well. Mother is horrible.
A big pain even in D9 plus ketu ! Very true about constantly hiding the truth, living a double life and lying so life goes by smoothly only to realise by the 27th year of my life that it is far better to speak the truth and get out of situations that only waste my time and energy and lead me with nothing in the long run. The amount of time people pleasing has taken away from me. And i am totally okay being alone rather than with time wasters because anyway life ain't handing me anything simply. It's very hard to be positive and less restrictive but since it is saturn - the power of putting efforts on affirmations is life changing. Being action oriented is another.

Thank you. Hahahah, I've got Saturn in 2nd and 2nd from moon. I won't lie that life has been hard, that it is still strict and minimalistic, BUT those foundations I've stood upon stood the test of time... so why would I change it? 😊 The placement gets better over time, as I learn to deal with it more.

Sir, what if it's retro Saturn + Ketu in 2nd in pisces sign ? Also, it's a relief to know saturn is not going to make us look old 🤣 Have seen videos saying saturn makes you old. Was scared. Also, the video resonates totally. The supression part in terms of speaking up, money etc despite having all the basics available since childhood. Though, I'm a strong believer of Truth since forever. Always made sure to be as honest as possible. But, do struggle with opening up my thought infront of people.
