showing my house || minimalist apartment tour
Showing you my minimalist one bedroom apartment in Austin, TX. I show you everything in the apartment except the drawers in the kitchen, for that, another video is really needed so if you want to see that one, let me know in the comments below. I found this space on Airbnb. If you have never used the service, I highly recommend it. You can use my affiliate code here to sign up and get some money off your first trip: www.airbnb.com/c/cmcmillen3
Everyone wants to know the price of course and I have no problem with that. We pay under $1100 which includes all utilities as well as 5G internet. We plan on being here until our yearly trip to Thailand where we will be for December and January and then we will come back for a 10 month lease.
I absolutely LOVE Austin and the location, price, and set up are perfect for me. I hope you enjoy the video! Much love to you

YES! I would LOVE to see this too...
I love how intentional your space is. It's wonderful to see how you live within your means and for your lifestyle! Looking forward to more videos like this for sure.
A personal hygiene video would be a great way to show the simpler side of living in a world FULL of products.

Sweet! I would love to do that
I love how simply you two live. Proof that things don't make you happy because you seem insanely happy. I would definitely love to see a more in depth video on what's in your kitchen. I'm still getting rid of things in the kitchen and also trying to simplify my diet.
Yay your back with minimalism videos
You are one of the very few minimalists I've seen that admits to owning a vacuum cleaner. It seems mysteriously absent in most videos! I always liked your life philosophy videos, like "How to Not Give a F*ck" or "You're a Lazy, Homeless Bum". I would love to see more things like that.

Love your living spaces, and their simplicity. I think I would miss plants around, but I guess, Texas you can have more time outside which remedies that..always happy to see ya. thank you, much love

Thank you so much Jeff!
As usual, very interesting video! Thank you. I must say that I'm impress with the way you guys live, but I also know that I would be so unhappy to live in an almost emply apartment. I am in the process to get rid of stuff I don't need anymore and as I go along, it feels really good. However, I need some furniture, like a sofa in the livingroom and a real confortable mattress to sleep on. Does not have to be a full bed, but a good mattress is essential to me. We are all different for sure, but I still enjoy watching your videos. Thank you for taking the time. I also really like when you talk about food and what you eat in a day. So, a kitchen tour would be great. Good night! :-)

So good to know what works for you! Thank you!
It's nice to see you and Brittany also sleep on the floor. 😊 I've been sleeping on the floor going on 20 years. I sleep on a wool blanket doubled over with a sheet over it and don't use a pillow.
I'd be interested in the kitchen and bathroom videos. 😊

Great video Conor! I had a question about your pull-up bar. You seem to use it in any Airbnb you live in. Do you ever have any issues with the door frames not being compatible with the bar, or not being able to handle your weight? I just moved into a new place and the trim on the door seems a little cheap, and I'm wondering if my bar will give me problems.
@ConorMcmillen
5 жыл бұрын
We have had issues with them not fitting but not with weight issues. The bar itself doesn't need much support as it is working off of pressure. It actually has nothing to do with the jam or door but rather the trip around the door jam. As long as the trim is either supported by the side trim or attached to the jam or studs, you will be fine. :)

Conor McMillen Thanks so much!!
O.M.G. This is so hard to wrap my head around! I love it and I so wish I could magically morph into that lifestyle! I'm interested in minimalism, love the concept but I've always been so sentimental and neurotic and my stuff makes me feel safe and prepared. I'm not a major packrat but that's only with energy and intention put into that. And I feel like my belongings help me "Nest" into the space I'm in and be comfortable but I also feel like I'm chasing my stuff around all the time trying to keep my place neat and clean. It's bizarre. Thank you for posting this, I would love to hear about how you got there. Were you always pretty minimalist/simplistic or did you have to transition at some point??

I would like to see kitchen. Im cut down on the things i own. I have cut down on a lot of stuff I have a ways to go still, but everytime i let go of something i feel relief. I don't think i will be able to let go of my plants though.

Me too!! Going through the whole process as well. I feel once I got out of that whole “you have to have more” mindset, I’m realizing how much stuff I have and it’s sometimes uncomfortable. I don’t even have as much as most people and I’m feeling this way. But I love plants! I don’t think I’ll be getting rid of those

Conor, how did you arrange for the owners to remove all furniture for you (given it's an airBNB I assume it was originally furnished)

You know what I have fun doing just a little side fun sometimes. When I am curious. Timing how long it takes me to pack everything I own if I was to move all of a sudden. lol Curious how long it would take you connor? probably less then 20 mintues is my guess. :P :) Now that is a great idea for a video. A challenge video between friends maybe that could be a fun little video to do. Like everything out as if you were putting your stuff to use one second and had to bale the next second. pack everything then load it and hit a gas station. How long that takes to accomplish. I don't know how many times I got a kick out of that. I freaking love floor sleeping and yeah its true not for everyone, but I do recommend trying it and with a real try not half heart kinda thing. I really cant understand it when people say no I don't like sleeping on the floor, but you ask "well ok what did you not like about it?" you know getting there perspective and experience and they actually come back saying they haven't slept on the floor since a kid or something. Like what? That's not near enough to count as a real experience to draw from. I love sleeping on the floor. my hips don't have dull ache like get in a bed and my knee is the same way. I am healthy no problems health wise, but sleeping on a bed gives me symptoms like I do have knee and hip problems. Truth.
Please do a kitchen tour

Did you get rid of all your tools and stuff? You must have had a lot of renovation tools in the past. Anyhow I find it hard letting go if that and other stuff, even though I haven't used any of it in years.
