Well, the line that puzzles me the most here is doubtlessly "Er það í dag, með gleðibrag, ég loksins kemst á hvar?", I just don't get what this "hvar" refers to. Can you give me a good interpretation? 'Cause I'm sincerely desperate for one... Other than that, I don't quite get the point of "gert er gert" and in the line "reglur giltu ekki þar", I don't quite understand what that "þar" indicates. Then in ITU, we have that "fipa mig", which is just...no x) And then there's "Sem veit ég get stundum verið pínu treg?", I don't get what she would be so unwilling to do...and then, to ask to the voice "hræðist þú mig?" sounds a tiny bit threatening to me X'D Beside that, I'm no big fan of how they keep messing up with word order, it just looks so cheap to me...

Well it's not "ég loksins kemst á hvar?" it's "ég loksins kemst AÐ hvar?" meaning "Finally I'll find out where?" referring where something is. The gert er gert (what's done is done) is kind of a it's a reference to "Let it go" she has accepted what she has done and she is accepting who she really is. The line "reglur giltu ekki þar" you have to look at the line before where it says: Ég venjuleg aldrei var (I've never been ordinary) meaning: The roles of being ordinary did not apply. "Fipa mig" basically means too confuse someone. It's not a word that is used much in spoken Icelandic, however it's used in poetry and old literature. The much more common spoken word used is "Rugla mig", however I think using "fipa" gives it a nice twist in the lyrics. "Sem veit ég get stundum verið pínu treg?" the word treg can mean a few things in Icelandic unwilling to do ( reluctant), being sad, having a hard time with something. I think in this context it means being sad. "hræðist þú mig?" sounds a bit aggressive yes, that I agree with you on. X) it would be more appropriate to say "Óttast þú mig?" The word order is not by any means being messed up, it's correct both ways. they often do it in songs to make it flow better. Same goes for poetry. However it'S rare to hear people speak in that way, however it happens..

I imagine this kind of structures are common in Icelandic literature books too, as poetry books and similar. Could you confirm this to me? I am curious.

I love this version, Agusta's was on my top 30 in Frozen, but in frozen 2 she is on my top 20 or 15... I love her voice so much, and the choir for me is one of the best❤️ Great job Iceland🇮🇸❤️

English should have preserved the usage of þ and ð. ‘Th’ for both sounds? Are you kidding? Btw, for me, the lyrics are like combination of Swedish, Danish and Norwegian. I always find that it is cute for Scandinavian lyrics to have the similarity in line of ‘mit/mitt liv/lif’. I believe ‘Ég er hér’ is same with Mainland Scandinavian language ‘Jag är här/Jeg er her’ XD Thanks a lot for the S&T

Well, þ and ð are not the only problem in English script....like, how on earth can you think of using "oo" to indicate the sounds in "moon, blood, door"? .....written English doesn't make sense. Period.

​@@FlamSparks Those words used to be pronounced with the same vowel but then came the Great Vowel Shift and while the pronunciation has changed, the historical spelling has been preserved. Just like how "de" and "dem" are both pronounced as "dom" in Swedish.

It's even similar to English "Here I am" or " I am here" :). It sounded almost like English when the Icelandic singer sang that part.

Love Augusta's Elsa her voice is so sweet, soft, angelic, powerful, unique, icy and fits Elsa wounderfully. The energy's amazing you can hear she had a blast playing the character cause she sang the song from her whole heart❤❤❤❤ Her speaking voice is wounderful for Elsa her cold side shine's trough but Augusta also brings the loving big sister vibe perfectly so talented❤❤ I found her too screamy in Let It Go but she did the other songs well and the love she has for Elsa shows in every performance i'll always love her. She killed it with the songs in the second Frozen movie her Elsa makes me smile every time when lisstening to Frozen songs hope to see her in other Disney movies as well sometime soon

La voce di Àgùsta non è tra le mie preferite, ammetto però che ha una voce molto particolare. Per quanto riguarda il significato del testo... Solo a me piace molto? Non so se tu abbia tradotto bene il testo (perché mi pare di aver letto che tu abbia avuto difficoltà nel tradurlo) però mi è piaciuto molto. Si avvicina molto all'originale. Solo alcune frasi suonano un po' "strane" ma, per il resto, credo che sia prefetto. Poi adoro molto il coro finale... 😍 Comunque, leggendo tra i commenti... Anche secondo me Àgùsta sarebbe stata perfetta per Anna piuttosto che per Elsa

A parer mio, non avrei apprezzato Ágústa come Anna tanto quanto non la apprezzo come Elsa, perché questo suo timbro proprio non lo reggo x) Fai conto che non sopporto nemmeno la sua Rapunzel e inoltre, non cambierei l'Anna di Þórdís per tutto l'oro del mondo **^** Per quanto riguarda il testo, la preoccupazione principale degli islandesi è sempre stata quella di far _apparire_ il testo fedele all'originale, a costo di sacrificarne non solo la bellezza, ma persino la correttezza. I testi islandesi (cosa che non ho mantenuto nella traduzione) spesso rigirano completamente l'ordine naturale della frase in modo da costringerci dentro la traduzione letterale in ogni modo, componendo frasi con un ordine non solo innaturale, ma anche forzato e farraginoso. A questo si aggiungono frasi senza senso ("È oggi che finalmente ci arriverò?"...dove?) o del tutto decontestualizzate ("quel che è fatto è fatto"), senza contare perfino degli errori nell'uso stesso della lingua: in ITU, il verbo "fipa mig" ("distrarmi") non esiste in questa forma, la sua forma corretta sarebbe "fipast" ("venire distratto"). Ora, si può anche dire che si siano _tenuti fedeli all'originale_ in senso stretto, ma una tale agrammaticalità e banalmente la bruttezza e farraginosità del testo non erano propri dell'originale e questo evidenzia un alto grado di infedeltà che a parer mio non è tollerabile: la fedeltà a un testo non passa solo per il suo mero significato, ma anche per il rispetto della sua bellezza originale.

Comunque, se ho detto che Àgùsta sarebbe perfetta (ora non voglio azzardarmi a dire "perfetta") più per Anna che per Elsa è perché la sua voce mi sembra più affine ad Anna piuttosto che ad Elsa (infatti è totalmente diversa dalle altre). Per la questione del testo... Infatti, la prima cosa che mi ha colpito è la sua fedeltà all'originale, però non sapevo che gli islandesi, pur di esser fedeli al testo originale, sacrificano la grammatica e la bellezza delle parole

Pretty similar to the Swedish I would say. I would translate it as in Swedish "Med en ny dag, vad kommer då? Det är klart att allt har ändrats och kommer aldrig att se likadant (ut). Och jag har mitt val, du ska höras (Jag ska höra dig sounds better though) Och så gör jag det rätt".

How are the lyrics so similar to English but match Elsa's mouth so well?

Icelandic is the closest modern Scandinavian language to Old Norse. Old Norse is pretty similar to Old English. English and Icelandic are long distant cousins!

Thecnically this is a "perfect" adaption of English version, with sentences with many similar meaning, but that also makes the lyrics too boring and "scared" to be deeper > Are you fluent at Icelandic, btw?

This audio was mixed waaay better than many other versions(e.g. Arabic, Vietnamese, Cantonese, Taiwanese...), where the audio was *much* louder than the voice, you can barely hear it underneath 🤣🤣

The lyrics are in poetic Icelandic. Translating it and making it make sense does not really work lol. They are perfectly normal to natives though.

Ma il passaggio in mezzo non me lo dici?? _cough cough_ Non che i creatori del film ci abbiano considerati degni di avere delle effettive spiegazioni su alcuni avvenimenti, quindi tanto vale _cough cough_

Nah nah nah, al di là delle lacune del film in sé, i testi islandesi sarebbero stati lacunosi _molto_ a prescindere. E nella traduzione ho persino risparmiato l'ordine osceno delle parole in queste frasi! La frase "þú kenna mátt mér" mi ha fatto diventare scema perché hanno invertito ausiliare e principale e io non mi ci raccapezzavo: letteralmente l'hanno messa come "tu insegnare puoi a me", che fa senso tanto in italiano quanto in islandese. "Þú ert þá svarið sem leitað ég hef allt mitt líf" invece è "tu sei quella risposta che *cercato io ho* [ayo!] per tutta la vita". Non parliamo nemmeno dello sproposito di "qui" e di "là" che hanno sparpagliato ovunque gli mancassero delle sillabe ("reglur giltu ekki þar" > "le regole non si applicavano lì").

Senza offesa, ma Augusta è fra le peggiori (se non la peggiore) doppiatrici di Elsa. Ha un timbro veramente osceno hahahah riesco a tollelarlo solamente i primi 10 secondi nelle note più basse della canzone. Comunque chapeau, so che la grammatica Islandese sia difficilissima, quindi sicuramente non sarà stata proprio una passeggiata la traduzione (anche perché noto che certe frasi sono un po' strane, quindi immagino tu abbia dovuto fare una sorta di parafrasi)

Nessuna offesa, credo che sia quasi un dato di fatto (poi qualcuno in Islanda l'ha selezionata e qualcuno negli USA l'ha approvata, quindi direi che i gusti sono gusti). Fare questo video è stato obbiettivamente difficile perché certe note alte sono veramente una sofferenza...ma diciamo che se ho affrontato la versione norvegese, posso sopravvivere anche a questa x) Grazie ^^ L'islandese di suo è parecchio difficile, ma negli adattamenti Disney la questione è ulteriormente complicata dal fatto che gli islandesi per tenersi _apparentemente_ fedeli all'originale, rigirano l'ordine delle parole e forzano la lingua in una maniera del tutto innaturale che dopo un po' ti fa morire dentro....

Ricordo che quando uscì nel 2013 il Multilanguage di Let it go pensavo che la versione Norvegese fosse stupenda hahahahhaha infatti poi sono rimasto abbastanza deluso (tra l'altro la sua voce mi ricorda in qualche modo la versione in Ungherese, che a moltissimi piace, ma onestamente non riesco ad apprezzare più di tanto)

So che la grammatica finnica è ancora più complessa. Io capisco comunque tutte le lingue germaniche, anche l’Islandese , tranne il finnico che è troppo distante, poiché la mia lingua madre è il tedesco ... molte parole o frasi si somigliano, anche se capisco bene che ci siano difficoltà nel capire l’Islandese (perfino per me in certi punti).

Lower range she sounds great but at the end unfortunately I think we are in Águst and the Chipmunks land.

@@FlamSparks i listened to ITU right before this (was in the shower so couldn't comment) and I think Águsta's worst part overall is the last Unknooooooooown from the chorus. Eek. I'll never understand why they chose her for Elsa, she could have been fine on Anna and get someone more like Valgerđur or the chick that does Yocheved, something in that family.

No it isn't. Not every language has a translation for an English word, and vice-versa. Also, some words have completely different meanings in other languages, and sometimes the direct-English translation is too difficult to sing to the tune and tempo of a song. So actually, your comment was quite rude. And ignorant. English isn't the only language out there, and other languages do not always conform to English. Icelandic is a VERY old language that has barely changed from Old Norse over 1,200 years ago. Show it and other languages some respect.
