The fact that Alex walked away leaving Sophie handcuffed in the bath was a bit strange. I guess Alex may have gone back after the shot of the production staff helped.

The editing of the show takes the most time. So much footage is cut, and they can steer the episodes to create underdogs that still win a later episode. And that's part of the magic. To make the losers into winners.

Just look at the one where Alex and Greg are playing chess in the garden and then Greg just eats one of the pieces. I've always taken them to be highlighting the weirdness of the Taskmaster 'realm', task-related or not.
