How about we not do an episiotomy? Was it even medically necessary? Does the husband stitch come after?

Standing upright can increase the diameter of the pelvic outlet, but generally doctors don't like delivering standing upright because of the potential for dropping the newborn. In the cases of shoulder dystocia, Gaskins Maneuver can be used, in which a mother gets on "all fours" and arches her back in order to increase the pelvic outlet.

Which is ridiculous because you can cover for that...so no, there is NO risk unless you want to factor in the doctor is an idiot.

Actually standing up right can double the size of the pelvic outlet in the right position, maybe you should actually measure these things before making false statements.

There's a reason why women had always given birth in upright positions, whether squating, kneeling, or seated on a wooden birthing "chair". Gravity also greatly reduces the pain of childbirth, aided by the right herbs in the third trimester that, during the first, function as an abortificant.

Signs from the mother ranging from gestational diabetes and previous anomalous pregnancies May of indicated The child having broad shoulders and possibly the size of the newborn is unusual and abnormally large an indication that an episiotomy is a necessity to birth the baby through the birth canal to less complicate the delivery.

Exactly!! Birthing tears are sometimes better.... Cuz your body can heal back more naturally than a straight clean cut. Has to do with skin layers n stuff. I had shoukder dystocia with both my daughter and my son. it sucked but with my son i hemmoraghed n needed a bakri balloon.

this is a state of emergency, the episiotomy is done because with the suprapubic pressure the outlet pressure of the fetal body is greater and risks excessively lacerating the perineum. In a physiological birth, an episiotomy should not normally be done. Unfortunately, we are talking about pathology here.

Lying on your back not the optimal position for birth. What if the mama stood upright. Would this not support a baby with shoulder dystocia?
