Without spoiling anything, I believe the plot does get better later on. In this instance, I feel like Kiznaiver shouldn't be judged by the 3 episode rule as it merely sets up the characters for the events that happen later on. It's not wrong to describe the characters as 2-dimensional at first glance, but they start changing slowly in further episodes. I think Katsuhira is intentionally set up so you wouldn't care for him, so that you'd be surprised by how he develops later on. It does suffer from a few execution problems even in later episodes, but none that warrant dropping the show IMO. Overall, try maybe 2 more episodes to see if you like it if you have some spare time for it.

From this the MC swore he would kill the "non-human being". Much like the walls in AoT, Owari no Seraph's cities are closed of by a wall. From this the mc goes through much trail and error to find he is also part of the "non-humans" and from which he transforms into one... And the list continues, I think you get the point...

It's getting so much better. The most recent episode really got to me. The first 3 episodes focus more on establishing the world and characters more than anything, but after that, it's been breaking up character arcs into one or two episode chunks, and the characterization is great. from the quite stuck up girl who feels responsible for her friends death, to MCs gal pal trying to deal with her feelings for him. and even MC has a character moment where he actively expresses himself for a change. It's getting really good.

Incidentally, I can't help but find it amusing that Luluco, the most ridiculous Trigger show that I've seen and Kiznaiver, the most serious that I've seen are both airing in the same season.

Btw, I also feel like I could relate to Katsuhira. Not with the whole unable to feel pain and emotionless thing, but I think it's relatable to feel like you're unable to understand yourself. It's almost difficult to say your thoughts because you can't decipher probably what you wanna say. And I personally don't think that Katsuhira is romantically attracted to Sonozaki. Rather, he is interested in her because it feels like she can tell him more about himself than he himself knows. You feel?

  • @Ethereal311
    @Ethereal3118 жыл бұрын

I wholeheartedly disagree. The entire set-up in the beginning had some serious foreshadowing to what the series is going to be about. First is the mechanized, autonomous feel that the board meetings of the Kiznaiver project have, in addition to the board members all wearing a false smile of sorts. This is in contrast to how Sonozaki has this constant sense of duty and trying to get the job done. Something's not right in the organization, especially in their naive notions of world peace. This is only reinforced in episode 6, when the head talks about having a "quota to fill" and "countries are considering withdrawing their support". This is screaming out that something's happening, something big and likely incredibly dangerous. Second part is about how Katsuhira doesn't feel pain and doesn't express himself very well. Sonozaki comes along and forces the Kiznaiver on him. Although it's quite literally forced development, Katsuhira actually goes beyond what is necessary (most notably in the 6th episode where he says that he's disappointed in Sonozaki) into actual development. He's not a blank character, rather he doesn't know how to express himself in a way that doesn't make him sound like a blank character. I'm similar in that regard so I'd find it easier to get him, but I still think that what I've said makes as much sense as a youtube comment could.

I think you missed the point on Kacchon's character, he is supposed to be emotionless and distant, that's the point. As the series goes on, you see him learn to feel and relate to others, while developing his own ideals. He still hasn't reached that point, but he's getting there. Also, I think the ultimate purpose of the Kiznaiver project is suppose to be a mystery, although I can understand why it would be frustrating not knowing what this is all truly for.

+Bobby Jenkins Maybe I'm just an idiot but how on Earth do people not understand the purpose of the Kiznaiver Project? I just love Kiznaiver so much, I feel like the plot is just going along with watching the experiment through, not really trying to relate us that much to a main character but to appreciate the interesting concepts of being bound by pain with characters very different from one another; I always liked worlds and concepts much more than characters alone so that may be why I'm having such a good time with Kiznaiver.

Its honestly my favorite anime series airing this season, hands down, and this is counting Re: Zero and Kabeneri. The anime, I believe, has drastically improved in the last few episodes, especially in Maki's arc. I believe the anime has stellar character development, amazing visuals, and a great soundtrack. When the anime gets released to the United States, I'll totally pick it up.

*Potential spoilers* Having seen the whole series twice now (because I wanted to be sure), I like it. Yes it has it's flaws, and I can say with utmost certainty that Chidori is my least favorite character in the whole series (that might be more I'm sick of her character archetype, though), but I think the good outweigh the bad. The animation is gorgeous, the opening is good enough that I put that song it on my iPod, it has some pretty funny character moments, and most of the characters I feel grow outside of their archetype well enough. I like Maki's development, and Yuta I think winds up being far more mature than you think someone like him would be. My biggest complaint isn't really the melodrama, as I feel some of the emotional scenes work well with it, but more that I feel thebig revelation that's learned by the end should be one that most people find obvious. It makes sense with Sonozaki given her circumstances, background, and how she was raised, but everyone else... not really. So, while I don't think it's as good as either Kill la Kill (of which it is an entirely different series, to be fair), or the head writer's series Anohana, it's worth checking out. Because what it does well, I think it does incredibly. So... it's a really good 4/5.

Kiznaiver is great (now watched episode 11) just stick with it! ~ Honestly it begins to really get interesting post episode 4-5, it really explores how close you can get to someone without getting hurt and if being close to people is important. It's all about emotions and love and what we will sacrifice in order to attain a genuine connection with someone we may have very little in common with. The characters begin to get more depth throughout and also show potential for more development, with many being far less obvious than first expected. When the implant starts to evolve you see the pain the characters feel as they realise how hard it is to be vulnerable to another person. I do wish our main characters (sonozaki and Katsuhira) were less involved with each other but I feel that the lack of emotions becomes more vital as you proceed forward, learning their history. I feel really invested in this series despite my wandering attention span up until episode 3 and honestly if nothing else the opening is worth a watch, its beautiful and reads a lot about the series.

How is the pursuit of world peace a cliche? The reason why everyone was brought together was so that different people from different parts of society finally understand each other. I consider this kinda the extreme form of The Breakfast Club. I think this anime has a better message which I can relate to.

well.... isnt the point of kiznaiver to asign the stereotypes to these characters and then bust the stereotype open? so far i think they're doing an ok job at presenting the cliches and beginning to add depth to the usual stereotypical anime cast but who knows where the story will take us. your complaints with the series are valid however i just think you're missing the main point... though i really dont yet know what the "world peace" stuff has to do with all of this. i guess it's just a plot device as of now.

(i mean no disrespect in anyway but just try to hear me out). Um sir this was actually my first time watching ur channel. i understand that there are some parts of Kiznaiver that could be much better. and i also understand u only watched the first three episode so i cant get completely flustered. But i think u should watch a series or a good 20 episodes of a long running series before u can rate it. Because its like giving Batman V. Superman a 3 out of 5 star rating after watching the first ten minutes. But this show touched my heart, i literally cried at one point. My emotions weren't even under my control anymore. i loved this show and i feel as tho u might feel this way in the future if u watch the rest of the series. thanks.

For the next one, you should do Sakamoto, Bungou Stray Dogs, Mayoiga, Boku Hero No Academia,Kabeneri or Flying Witch. This video is 1 year old. So I guess you could say that I was living under a rock. But I’m gonna tell you the review of Kiznaiver. It’s a short series so don’t expected 3 or 4 seasons of it. It’s only 12 episode and I watch them all so here is my review on the story. The idea seems good and interesting, but this doesn’t feel like any other anime or related to other movies ans serious. The series have a Main Character, but it doesn’t have an Antagonist. The series try to make Noriko as the antagonist, but she doesn’t play as one nor does a good job at it. Characters: It feels rushed or simply unfinished since it doesn’t fully explain in details the traits of the character and how they are that way. The only good one was Honoka, but the others aren’t. Nico only says she doesn’t have friends, but doesn’t want to show why she is so joyful like the examples of Honoka, Yuta was a fat kid in Middle School which again, doesn’t show or explain why he does, Chidori on why she likes the Main Character since the show has time to show Flashback of Noriko and Katsuhira, but not a flashback of Chidori and Katsuhira hanging out. Tenga also doesn’t explain his attitude other than having a phobia of dogs. The show wants you to make the characters likeable and “sympathize” with them, but how am I gonna simpathize characters if I barely know them, the only character that I do in fact simpathize is Honoka. That’s it. Idk, why Yoshihira is the only character that has no backstory other than he fetishes pain. In fact he doesn’t do anything in the series. If you remove Yoshihira from the show. The story would still be the same. If characters backstory were told the same or similar as Honoka than the story and character would be better. Drama: Through out the end of the series it doesn’t have a conclusion between the relationship of the Kiznaivers. Nico likes Tenga, Tenga likes Chidori, Chidori likes Katsuhira and Katsuhira likes Noriko. It doesn’t make a lot sense through out the story, but mostly focused on Tenga liking Chidori, since HE himself advised her and know for a fact that Chidori likes Katsuhira and advise her to get closer to Katsuhira and in the episode where the Kiznaivers are stuck in school because a Typhoon hit japan. Chidori sees Katsuhira hugging Noriko then she gets sad and runs away. Tenga gets upset and tells him to go after her and forgive her, so he did. While He chases after her Nico still has feelings for Tenga that it trigger the effect so everyone know someone is feeling something. Then Noriko realizes and says “Nico likes you” which is a half-assed thing to say so Tenga says “Wtf!” and Nico runs away and Honoka and Yuta tells him to go after him the SAME reason why Katsuhira should go after Chidori. Except, he doesn’t he goes to Katsuhira and punches him and he says “Why does she like you?”. Like what the hell is happening? It doesn’t make absolutely no sense. Theme: The story place more on Drama, but it’s just badly executed. The first 3 episodes were getting interesting because it had more intense scenes, but after that, it’s just flat. In my opinion it could’ve been more interesting if it was mostly horror rather than Drama. Because the idea of Sharing pain and feeling seems interesting is interesting itself, but the Show doesn’t really do a good job at it. It just doesn’t fit or interesting on the Drama Theme. Conclusion: I give Kiznaiver a 4.5/10. The art style is of course beautiful and the intro music fits the aesthetic of the intro. Honoka is pretty much the only character you’ll know and simpathize while others you’re just left empty hand with just pinch of things of this and that. Is it a good anime? No, not really. Should you watch it? It’s up to you, but if you want just a Yes or No answer, then I would say sure. Just so you can give it a try.

+Danimra Stablecon It's nothing like SAO

+Danimra Stablecon are you an idiot? Just because its a video game show or seems like one, does not make it an SAO clone. There are a ton of video game / fantasy world shows that are way better than SAO. Are you telling me that a show like No Game No Life is the same as SAO because they both are about characters trapped in a video game like world?

Desū Gun Yeah that's what they said about Log Horizon. I juts don't like that genre, it's been done to death at this point.

Danimra Stablecon Log Horizon and SAO has many similarities. This does not.

Thanks for this. I've been seeing this title pop up a lot and was debating if it was worth a look. I'm going to pass on it though as the original description didn't work for me and your additions seem to confirm why. It's a pretty good season so far and I'm already enjoying more titles than winter.

I mean, I feel like I more get where they were coming from with the characters. They're all meant to be different. That's the point. Completely different characters, all with completely different personalities, being forced to be with each other and share the pain they feel. It's quite like common society, really. We're all different, all with far separate opinions from one another. Although I'm not sure Physical pain could be completely securing that 'World Peace' that the world wished for, you would have to match it with Mental Pain as well, seeing as emotions are far stronger than being punched.

It's episodes 4 - 6 that the story really flourishes and you start to comprehend just what this series is. It's all about character development. The latest episode (episode 6) was actually very touching.
