Dr. David Geier I have a slap tear. I did 12 physical therapy visits over for four weeks and there wasn’t any change. I even tried a cortisone shot, same result. My orthopedist wants me to do four more weeks of physical therapy but I am not convinced that it’s going to work

Injured my shoulder playing basketball years ago. Blocking motion applying force down on the ball as opponent went up with the ball which resulted in a simultaneous upward counter-force. Since the acute injury, overhead throws (football or baseball) take 15 mins of warm-up before really being able to rip. A physician diagnosed a slap tear (no MRI) years ago. My experience has been the area can strengthen on its own (minimal rehab) and can revert back to square 1 anytime after overhead throw or similar force as original injury. No problem just build it back up. About a month ago I woke up and it reverted from sleep. I'm able to stay active (mountain-biking, basketball, football, skiing) but moving on and off this shoulder while sleeping sucks. I plan to start focused exercises and am interested in any suggestions based on what I've described. Perhaps I'll consider a surgical repair one day.

I just found out in December 2018 that I have a slap tear in my right shoulder. MRI arthrogram showed it. Before I found out I had one I did physical therapy 3-4 months, 2 cortisone injection and 2 trigger point injections. Still having pain. I'll be having surgery in February.

I've been waiting to post about my SLAP repair experience on this video for over a year, but wanted to achieve full recovery before doing so: I'm a 23 year old male who had a labral tear in my right shoulder from baseball pitching and various other activities (weight lifting, swimming). Notable symptoms were clicking/popping/grinding of the shoulder during flat bench press, but it escalated to a sharp/deep pain during resting periods. I received an MR Arthrogram which revealed the tear. I attempted 2 months of physical therapy before surgery, which made the shoulder feel better. However, surgery was still required understanding that I want a full life ahead of me filled with athletic activity. In October (10 months ago), I underwent surgery to fix my SLAP Type VIII, and it was also discovered I had a partially torn rotator cuff and osteoarthritis. The procedure was successful and required 5 anchors. The road to recovery was extensive. I couldn't shower for the first 5 days, and afterwards needed to cover my arm in the shower with a trash bag for 2 more weeks. My surgeon provided me with simple exercises for the first 3 weeks, and installed a device which aided the performance of this. At 3 weeks, I began visiting the PT facility twice a week, and completed required exercises twice a day at home. Before going over my time-table, note that my surgeon put me on a very conservative protocol. -6 week mark: sling removed, able to brush teeth, sip a cup of coffee -3 months: range of motion nearly back; external rotation still very weak. Began working out legs, but no barbell squats. -5 months: lat-pull downs, chest flies (machine only), bicep curls, tricep extension (cables), rows ----> all very light weight -7 months: barbell squats (probably could've done it earlier, but didnt feel comfortable putting weight on my back until then) -10 months: swimming, incline bench press, deadlifting ---> started off very light, but slowly gaining strength back Hope this might help with somebody about to go through this. Thanks to Dr Geier for posting this video, it was of great help when trying to identify my injury.

For me it was a give and take. I can lift extremely heavy and my shoulder is relatively pain free. My other shoulder now has a slap tear and I've been living with it for years but recently contemplating surgery. I'd say try surgery as a last resort.

I suffered a shoulder injury playing tennis. Had som pain and discomfort. Enough to visit the Dr. Dr gave me a choice of MRI or PT. The cost was $2,600 for MRI due to equipment compatibility with stents (another story altogether). So I am trying PT. Exercises helping with strength and range of motion. Too early to tell if this is the "solution" but it is certainly worth trying before MRI and or surgery.

I was diagnosed with SLAP injury 10 months ago. I did PT for about 2 months, it alleviated the pain to some extent but it came back to the prior-PT levels within a month. The MRI showed inflammation in labrum but no clear tear (they did not use the dye). Based on the movement tests, the surgeon thinks it is a labrum tear and is suggesting surgery. I am not sure if I should go for surgery but there doesn't seem to be any better options. Honestly, the pain is not too bad and doesn't interfere with my daily life (not an athlete). It's bad on some mornings and having an ice pack on the shoulder for 10 min relieves it to the level that I don't feel it at all that day. After reading about the possible complications (or no benefits) after surgery I am thinking of toughing it out without surgery. The surgeon himself indicated about 60% chance of reduction in pain after SLAP surgery.

I partially subluxed my right shoulder behind my back in a weird gym incident 3 years ago. I did extensive rehab and it slowly improved but mundane incidents (putting on a backpack) would set me back months of progress and the pain gradually got worse. Following an MRI, I've just been told that I have a LARGE SLAP tear of of my lebrum and the letter I've received from the Orthopaedic Surgeon says they are looking at "arthroscapy +/- labral repair stabalisation". No wonder it's been such a struggle to rehab! I've not been able to train even remotely as hard as I used to. Can't wait to get my shoulder back!

That's even with PT. I'm scheduled to see my doctor in a few weeks. If PT doesn't work after next week I may discontinue services until my doctor visit. I'm 54 and very fit and active. Based on my physical exam and xrays, my doctor believes I have a labral tear in my right shoulder. He initially wanted to order and MRI coupled with a sonogram and inject dye to confirm his diagnosis. I asked if we could try something less radical to start with. So, he gave me a steroid injection yesterday and a therapy band with prescribed exercises. He said we might get lucky and this problem could only be tendonitis. I have had this problem for 1 1/2 years. I will go back in six weeks and we will reassess. My question is if I do have a tear and I do have surgery, will someone like me at my age really benefit and be able to go back to my regular arm and shoulder workouts with further problems? Or, if my best bet just to continue substituting bothersome exercises with ones that do not aggravate my condition. Thanks.

Injured my shoulder 3 months ago doing Hammer Strength rows at the gym. I tried rest & inactivity for 6 weeks but the pain/discomfort/loss of mobility/instability didn't get any better. Decided to finally see an orthopedist and get a MRI which revealed a type II SLAP tear from 10 o'clock to 1 o'clock. He suggested surgery (biceps tenodesis due to my age, I'm 46) as an option if PT doesn't help. My followup appt with the doctor is in 4 weeks. A seasoned PT at my job has SLAP tears on both shoulders and told me that under no circumstances should I consider surgery for it. I've read so many articles, testimonials, message boards etc over the past week that I don't know if I'm coming or going. This has all gotten so confusing. All I know is that I just want back normal (or as close to normal as I can get) use of my right shoulder and give zero shits about being able to lift weights again at this point. But I don't want to go under the knife unless I absolutely have to. So I'm going to take the trainer's advice and be patient & consistent with PT using fitness bands & doing range of motion work to strengthen the shoulder and see how it goes. He told me it can take 6 months or longer. If he could do it then I guess I can too. Everyone else who's suffering with this has my sympathies.

Hey Prince Andrew. I've been dealing with this in both shoulders for 2.5 years now with no real improvement. This is a shitty injury. By far the worst I've experienced in my 14 + years of lifting. If you havent already, find yourself a good physio who can do active release techniques. When our body senses instability, it tries to create stability by spasming the surrounding muscles. But muscles in spasm are inherently weak and painful. ART can help with this, as well as improve mobility. This would be my first step, followed by a long term routine centered around progressive (and as pain free as possible) strengthening of the serratus, upper/middle/lower trap, rhomboids and rotator cuff to compensate for the instability. IMO surgeons are far too cavalier about giving a tenodesis. The bicep tendon is there for a reason. But if it comes to it, try to get out of the sling and moving sooner rather than later. People seem to recover much faster when they ditch the sling early. And consider using the peptide bpc-157 post operatively. It specializes in accelerating tendon healing to bone. If you want to get a better idea of what the recovery is like, I'm in a facebook group for shoulder surgery patients or 'victims' as i call them. It's called "shoulder surgery support group (rotator cuff tears & arthritis)." Best of luck. Say hello to lenny and leather daddy pls 😘

@@lespritdavid3508 I finally opted for surgery a year and a half ago. Had a bicep tenotomy performed, detaching it from the labrum. My surgeon would have considered a bicep tenodesis but he said the tendon wasn't in good enough condition to salvage & screw into the humorous bone. Tenotomy solved the pain and ROM issues, only minor downside to the procedure for me is occasional bicep cramping if I overuse the muscle or inadvertently flex it. No deformation of the muscle after a year and a half thankfully like some people get. Recovery time was minimal with just 5-7 days of post-op discomfort. All in all very happy with the result. Good luck!

I’m FREAKING OUT! I’m a 45 year old surfer and I’ve had shoulder pain for 18 months and it just keeps getting worse. If I try to rest my shoulder gets worse, if I go to the PT or try to rehab it my shoulder gets worse faster. Atm I can’t sleep or do any kind of exercise. My arm locks up with a pinching pain right on the top of my shoulder which radiates into my arm and neck. I had a MRI which revealed a fairly large SLAP tear. I’ve seen 3 shoulder surgeons who tell me that SLAP tears are fairly normal in someone my age and that it’s likely that the tears is not the cause of my pain. I have booked in with the top surgeon for shoulder surgery in which he’ll go into my shoulder to have a look and potential repair the tear. Has anyone else has a similar experience with shoulder pain? I have the surgery booked for a week from today but I don’t want to do it if it’s going to be a waste of time or potentially make my shoulder worse.

My shoulder kept popping out during everyday activities. I got labrum surgery. Then it popped out again, and continued popping out during everyday activities. So I got another surgery because I could not deal with it. A while after that surgery it popped out. My labrum is torn and I am torn whether to get surgery or not. I have not have bad sublexions since it popped out but I can feel the shoulder is still not stable and only is not popping out because of my muscles keep the shoulder in and being extremely mindful of what position I put the shoulder in. I feel it can easily pop out if put in a bad position. I have had about two scares where I felt it starting to sublex just a tiny bit, it did not really hurt but I could just slightly feel the shoulder getting out of position. It was a bit sore the following days of those but nothing like the initial shoulder pop outs. I can do most things I would want to do, longboard, bike, do some working out, do most yoga and stretching but would like to do more. I feel things like ice skating, snowboarding, water skiing, rock climbing, breaststroke swimming, and other adventurous things like that I could try again; but it has a high probability of popping out. I am relatively satisfied with being able to do the things I am doing now, especially because I have not been able to do them since my first surgery, but I am worried in the future I wont be able to move furniture, or it will discourage me from trying new things, or pop out if I try new things.

smashu2. I had labral and slap tear surgery 2 weeks ago. Since then I've done a bit of reading on the subject, and have read that shoulder instability like you are having can and often will cause labrum tears. But before they would do any labrum surgury, they would want to find the cause of the shoulder instability and fix that first, because if not the tear would just likely reoccur. Also, I have heard and read that stem cell treatment can in some cases repair a torn labrum. Same issue though, if you have something else going on thats causing dislocation frequently, it would just redamage any repairs, whether done surgically or with stem cell injections. Hope that was somewhat helpful.

Dante Williams i had a surgery for both SLAP type 3 tear and Vankart for my right arm when I was in thr army too. i served in ROK Army, so im not sure how the US Army is gonna deal with this in the first place. But remember this. Physical therapy wont help the pain get gone at all if your tear has reached at least SLAP type 2. I was medically discharged and then transferred to reserve duty as the rehab period after surgery was expected to be more than a year, and the army believed that i wouldnt do my full jobs in active duty during my service time. That is so true that i wasnt able to do hardcore pull ups and clean jerks till the middle of this year 2017; i had a surgery in late 2015. But if you wanna get rid of the pain completely, u have to take surgery. Labrum tear cant heal itself at the certain point, which means your symptoms will get severe and damaged more as long as you keep giving pressure on your shoulder.

@@foralgorithm656 all decisions must be determined by yourself and your doc, pal. But if your pain has been severe and lasting for a while without any sign of healing, you must check out with your doc immediately. I do not suggest avoiding surgery because taking more time will only be worse. If you wanna keep doing heavy exercises without worrying about your pain, the surgery is the best option. Nonetheless, like I said, please talk to your doctor seriously.

About 12 years ago, I prematurely moved up in dumbbell weight to 90 lb dumbbells for flat bench presses. On the 3rd rep, it took everything I had to complete the rep. Later on, my shoulder hurt bad. Couldn't adjust radio in car. Doc said torn labrum. Therapy and cortisone shots didn't help. Went in athroscopically to fix. Went thru post surgery pt. FF to today, Been working out every day, added military press on Smith rack, weight wasn't low enough, shoulder acted up again. I throttled off of all exercises, stopped military press, do long warm ups from ask dr jo on youtube, her slap tear video, and dr john bergman has a video where he is doing a pendulum exercise with kettlebells. Shoulder doing better.

Hi David, I have a SLAP lesion in my left shoulder, and it was confirmed with MRI with contrast. I acquired this tear 2 years ago in a rollover car crash. I'm super active, and I snowboard to a very high level. I've spent 2 years doing PT, and I can get the shoulder built back up to about 70% strength. The issue is, it doesn't take much to knock it back down to, say, 20% strength. I can simply slip and put my hand down, or tumble in deep powder snow, and the should starts popping, clicking, snapping and getting "stuck", and will stay that way for as long as a month while I rehab it again. It will also get bad if I hit the weight room, and do any sort of pressing motions. I've decided to finally go under the knife and get this fixed. Its driving me NUTS. I'm 33 years old and still have a lot of years of living an athletic / active life, and I'm tired of having this bad shoulder. I have a background in exercise physiology and biomechanics, and am very well versed in this injury. Curious to hear your professional thoughts. Thanks!!

Hi Dr…. I’ve been having discomfort with my left shoulder for the last year. I have got an MRI saying that every is fine, long bicep, rotator cuff, no atrophies, no liquids, no cyst. The only thing it says is that I have a very small tear in my labrum at 2oclock. I brought the results to my surgeon who already fixed my other shoulder and he told me he don’t want to operate that one. He is basically saying that the tear is too small and it would do more damage if he does procedure in it. So he said to some physio to reinforce the muscles around your shoulders to stabilize the labrum and after a while the pain might go away. It’s been a month now and so far I don’t see any improvement. So my question is should I be more patient with the physio? Should I challenge my surgeon and beg him to do the surgery anyway which most of the time is NOT a good idea challenging an orthopedic surgeon lets be honest :P or should I try Stem Cell? Supposedly it works but its funny because the labrum is not vascularized so how is it supposed to work? Thank you for your answer. I appreciate it

Please point me to any source that might help! I had both shoulders with Slap repairs over one year ago (four months apart) I struggled with escalating pain and impingement issues which I did not have before surgery. I am far worse off now than before. A recent contrast MRI shows tendonosis of each rotator cuff tendon as well as a significant Slap tears and moderate glenohumeral arthritis in both shoulders. I believe there was something about the capsules which were not dealt with that led to a struggle with everything prescribed to me including PT. I now cannot feel stable in any position and do indeed feel constant pain, especially if I do anything other than rest all day. The surgeons don't seem to want to acknowledge anything missed on their behalf. In addition I also received three corticosteroid shots in each shoulder over a one-year period. Each time I had any local anesthetic with lidocane, xylocaine or buprivicvane I have experienced increased pain and a sense that my shoulders are falling off. I was an active happy person all my life, and now I consider more unacceptable options to finish this nightmarish ordeal.

I used to be able to throw a baseball/football pretty well, but my throwing ability slowly got worse. The worst pain occurred when I tried to throw a soccer ball like a baseball, and it has never really got better. I used to be able to throw from the outfield, but now I can barely throw from second base to 1st. I tried steroids, went to a orthopedic and they sent me to physical therapy. I still can't throw. I think the orthopedic said I have a possible internal impingement(is slap the same thing). Should I get an MRI? I have had to quit baseball because the pain and loss of ability was too much.

t100base my symptoms are more different maybe even a slap tear level 1. It's been over a year that I've had this and I've been to multiple physio therapies some say it's impinge and some say it's labrum tear. My symptoms are anything above head throwing or above head weight training hurts. I have poping sound and I can move my humeral head back and forth like it's coming out of the socket. Any internal rotation hurts. Although at the time I had minimum rotation but now I have full rotation but the symptoms are still there. Dk what the fuck it is, I've been researching for the past year. Might even be bursitis? Dk. I'm just ask people that had slap what kind of symptoms they had and kind of compare. Thanks for opening man and hopefully you have a full shoulder recovery and get back to playing ball.

Over 3 months ago, I missed a step and fell on my elbow/forearm on cement pool rocks. After 2 months of consistent pain and limited mobility, I finally got an MRI which revealed SLAP tear and also fluid around biceps tendon in the bicipital groove. Starting PT next week for 6 weeks to see if I can get range of motion back and pain relief. I haven't been able to throw a ball normal since then. I have 3 daughters that play softball, 2 of them are pitchers so throwing a ball is part of my lifestyle that has now become difficult. At least my girls get a chuckle while they watch me try to throw. Underhand toss is what I've resorted to. Hoping PT helps, but not very optimistic. Just having the Dr check my muscle strength and move my arm makes me so sore for a couple days. Fingers crossed I recover someday. I'm 42, but very active and I'm a runner. My shoulder usually snap, crackle, and pops about 3 times during my runs.

Jimmy N.T.V.M I did 8 weeks of PT and it really did help! I only went once a week, but I really made an effort to do my home exercises every day. I gained almost full range of motion back and am starting to throw overhand at about 60% effort. I'm working on getting full throwing back, but I still feel like it will hurt, so I take it easy. I don't have 100% range in my arm, but less things cause me pain now. My shoulder is still rotated forward, but the goal of PT was to strengthen all of the muscles around it and I believe it worked. I'm back at the gym doing pretty much normal routine. I feel a slight soreness in my bicep and sometimes I can't get a full extension if I'm lifting a hand weight over my head, but it just feels like something gets caught in my shoulder and if I roll my shoulder back to try to get it in the correct position (since it's rotated forward) then I can get more extension. I feel like I can live with this now, but I need to keep up some home exercises to keep the muscles strong. I don't know how long it will last, but I'm happy with my results as of now. I was released from weekly PT visits and am on just home maintenance unless I need to go back.

Jimmy N.T.V.M Any luck with rest followed by PT this time? How long did you rest? I assume by rest you mean avoiding any overhead activity. I have had right shoulder pain since a tennis injury 12 years ago. After spiking a volleyball 2 months ago, I developed recurrent pain. I have been seeing a sports med specialist who identified some labral pathology (possible slap injury) on ultrasound. He is doing prolotherapy injections (unclear if this is helpful to me and the scientific literature in support of it is not strong at all). However, I had 2 flares of pain in the past month - the first with bike riding and the second with swimming freestyle. Which leads me to believe I have not been resting the shoulder appropriately. I'm hoping I can avoid surgery.

I have been having pain for a while now. Probably around a year ago and I play softball and i am a catcher so I think it’s from overuse of throwing. It hurts when I throw and I feel like I have no control over my throws. My shoulder also sometimes shifts out of place. but after resting it didn’t work I got an MRI with contrast which shows irritation which could be a tear but they don’t know 100%. I’ve been to many doctors and I’ve done physical therapy for 4 month 2 doctors said it’s most likely a slap tear and I need surgery or try PRP injection. I decided on surgery and had a consultation with the surgeon but he thinks I should try 6 more weeks of Physical therapy and work on getting flexibility in my internal rotation. It’s 2 weeks into my new physical therapy it doesn’t feel any better and he and my old physical therapist both think it’s a slap tear. I just want to get surgery soon because I start college softball next spring and I need to recover fast. Do you think surgery is the best option?

I decided to try PT first before surgery with my shoulder pain. The MRI shows I have a slap tear, a bone spur and arthritis along with a tendon causing irritation to the slap tear. I am only 38 and surgery included detachment and re anchoring of a tendon to my humerus, repairing the slap tear and shaving something in the shoulder. I thought this would be orthoscopic but sounds like it is not. My ortho surgeon talked about a large cut on my shoulder which was unexpected. Do you think PT will fix this or am I wasting my time and money? I am working the four muscle groups but not sure how that is going to fix the tear, spur and arthritis. What do you think?

Now the doctors and trainers are telling me I have a SLAP tear. Did the 9 months worth of rehab worsen my shoulder? Is this the time I recommend surgery or do I continue with rehab? Any suggestions or comments helps! Thanks!

Great video and commentary. Question, if the pain from the test is in the upper arm/biceps but not in the shoulder, is that still a positive test? Thanks! Also had a similar circumstance with the Yergason's test where the pain wasn't necessarily in the shoulder but at the top on the side of the arm. Speed's test was negative and apprehension test was positive with some anterior instability there. Thanks!

I just found this video and want to leave a comment maybe questions. I did injure my shoulder so much pain I could lift my arm what so ever. I had to wait for my so called crappy insurance to kick in went to the dr they took X-rays and said that it had appeared that the shoulder had popped out of the socket and back in. MRI was done and he said I had a labrum tear with fluid around the joint. He said I could do surgery or physical therapy but no guarantee that physical therapy will help. Unfortunately I can’t do the surgery because my insurance will not pay for out patient surgery and I don’t have $22K to pay for it. I can sometimes get my arm to shoulder height “sometimes” but there is pain.. how or what exercises will help to get it past the shoulder level without pain?

I experienced a bankart labrum tear in 2010- after a boxing related action. I had surgery to repair it during the rehabilitation it tore again but this time was a slap tear. I had that repaired in 2013-14 which went well how ever I wasn't happy with it so decided to have another surgery to tighten the capsule. During the rehab of that I felt it tear AGAIN- Which was a nightmare. Had an MRI that revealed a tear the surgeon agreed to have a look inside again but said he was 'happy with it.' I still really struggle with the pain when I train. To be honest I wish I had left it alone after the second surgery.

I had a SLAP labrum tear on my left shoulder last year and got surgery. Now my right shoulder feels pain when I raise about 170 degrees from anatomical position (starting palm prone). Also when my arm comes from the side palms facing front, I feel not a sharp pain but a tightness about 150-160 of the way up. Should I consider surgery or rehab?

Hi, I am an athlete, last December while doing an overhead dumbbell pullover i stretched my arms a bit too much and both my shoulders skidded out of it's resting position. And had severe pain on the same night while sleeping. Went to the doctor, got an X-ray done and found out that no bone injury had occurred. The Doctor prescribed me some pain killers and i felt very normal... Never skipped my gym routine. The pain didn't wear off. Right shoulder had gradual pain while doing pull ups. Got an MRI done on my right shoulder doctor suggested SLAP repair. Which i did 2 months ago. I still have pain on my left shoulder but bearable. And the Surgeon told me let it be and it will be fine. The questions are should i get an MRI done for my left shoulder...? , Will the pain gradually wear off? Will i be able get back to gym asap ? :(

My shoulder pain gets bad when I go to bed. It used to be in a small area in the back of my shoulder kept me awake during the nights. No problems with mobility. I a m not an athlete but arm functions fine. After 4 months decided to see my doctor which I was referred to PT which made pain worsen then I was referred to orthopedic surgeon. Physical exam showed everything normal, they divided to inject the shoulder with steroid. Everything went downhill from their my entire arm in pain . Muscle pain which the biceps got numbed near top of shoulder. Finally they decide time for mri which showed the the tear in Labrum and biceps tenden. I feel the damaged mud have been caused by PT since in the beginning they thought that was more like tendentious or muscular problems

I think I have a slap tear on my non-dominant side. It improves with exercise, like tennis. It usually doesn’t hurt during tennis unless I move a certain way. After playing it feels better. If I go a week without playing, it’s really bad. I does keep me awake at night. Cannot sleep on my side. Would that make sense that moving it helps?

This has been my experience as well. I do Ninja Warrior training, which is as aggressive on shoulders as anything, and injured my shoulder through that. Taking a break from modified (lower impact) Ninja training to let the shoulder heal has made it feel much worse. This is completely counterintuitive to me. My doctor said there is no such thing as low stress ninja training, so I should stop. I feel better if I keep up with it, but I do not get to 100% recovered. Going to try some different physical therapy now.

On September 20th 2016 I dislocated my shoulder diving for a ball playing volleyball on a sand court. It was reduced and I did PT for about 3 1/2 months. It was feeling great until I started volleyball again and my regular workout routine. I went back to my ortho who ordered an MRI. We found out I have a SLAP tear and impaction of the humeral head from a hilsachs lesion? I am looking for options and advice. I was shocked to see these results, as I have full ROM just some pain with certain workoits and weakness.

27 year old. I got MRI both on shoulders. Right arm (cricket bowling arm) has circumferential tear; most obvious in the anterior inferior quadrant. My arthroscopic surgery was on Feb 12th. (SLAP repair). I adjusted my shoulder sling straps multiple times to get more comfortable (mistakes). 8 Days since, I've been in constant pain. No sleep at nights, 3-4 hour pain interrupted sleep. Sleeping i s hard as i sit upright. If i try to lay down feels like shoulder is falling backwards. I am going to see my surgeon tomorrow to make sure everything is ok. Only exercise i have done is open/close my palm and flex my wrist in the sling, Can you give insight if this is normal/or any concerns

But now my left shoulder has a glenoid labral tear and yet again I was assigned PT with no improvement, MRI with dye in the joint is scheduled then possibility of another surgery in the near future. The physical therapy before the surgery is painful and not helpful what so ever. If your going thru shoulder pain get second opinions! No need in being in pain for months if it won’t help the problem to begin with is what I’ve experienced so far.

I have a slap tear, and my bicep tendon seems to pull at it - or click and pop, but mostly hinders me at the gym on chest day with presses. Seems to be the only time it hinders me. Is the only way top stop that with surgery? What would be the recovery time if they didnt have to cut the bicep tendon and is that possible? It doesnt nearly bother me enough to have surgery if they cut the bicep tendon but if its possible to just sew up or trim out the labrum part it might be worth it.
