Lately there has been so many bugs and glitches. They launch unfinished episodes without testing it properly on live server. Only playing still because no other game has this much superhero related content. Great video btw.

Honestly a graphics overhaul could be amazing and bring a lot of players, but also not mandatory. As long as the content is fun, that's all that matters, but sadly I'm not having much fun anymore. Waiting for an update that brings me back.

@Jefferson Jeff Dude this game is so old it runs on my integrated graphics laptop. A graphics update is almost necessary at this point, all the textures look piss stained and low quality.

I’ve been involved with this DCUO community since Feb 2011. Yes, a real OG in the game. Recently, I’ve had periods where I’ve been on and off. Yet, now, I’m at a point where I’m considering hanging it up for good. It’s just the release of the new DLC has me aggravated. How is it that we’ve waited 6 months from the last DLC for content that’s completely recycled? The “new” open world is the original Khandaq raid, the solo is an old Trigon themed duo from years ago, and the whole first half of one of the raids is that very solo instance. Seeming how reskins or recycled content is the norm, at what point do we say enough is enough? You would think 6 months is more than enough time for them to bring something new and reinvigorating. They’ve done that with lesser time windows. Delivering something so lackluster after such a wait is just inexcusable. What are we really paying them for? I had to be honest and ask myself “Why do I continue to support their mediocrity?” I know the answer. It’s because I’ve grown such a love for this game over the years. But, I hate how DCUO as a product has reached such a point where it feels so uninspired after it’s near 12 year lifespan. There’s a reason it’s ranked 74th on the MMO market. Last time I checked several months ago, it was 71st. That means things have gotten worse. I’ve tried so hard for so long with this game. The potential I envisioned this to have the moment I first picked it up from GameStop at 50 bucks for my PS3 hasn’t even been met. It’s funny how top MMOs on the market do for their communities what simply hasn’t been done for us here in DCUO. If it wasn’t for such standards being set, I probably wouldn’t think twice about it. Nearly 12 years and the DCUO DEVS still haven’t gotten it right. How much longer are we supposed to wait? Everyone’s acting like the upcoming graphics update is going to save the game. Yet, here I am preparing to be disappointed. Because I know in the long run DCUO is just going to be more of the same and I’ve grown tired. There’s so much more work beyond a new shiny coat that they have to do, it’s not even funny. Although, graphics don’t make the game, I feel like that upcoming update is going to determine the fate of whether or not I continue playing this in 2023; if ever again. Sorry about the length of this comment, just had a lot on my mind regarding the topic. Fair review to say the least. I will disagree about the content rating, though. Sure, there’s seemingly a lot to do if you’re a new player. But, constant reskins or recycles diminish the overall quality of what’s being offered. That’s a 6/10 for me. Appreciate the insight, regardless

You said it perfectly I been playing since day one an all the ridiculous things that's happened over the years between the market crash an me losing over 400 mil an the absolutely imbalanced pvp a million items an not enough inventory slots an the game is basically pay to win now with artifacts making sp almost irrelevant an the overabundance of micro transactions thrown in our face every time i log in waiting like a hour for alerts an raids an many other things i can mention its to much to type I just got tired of dealing with it i been playing an enjoying final fantasy XIV an man let me tell its a breath of fresh air my fellow dcuo veteran I strongly urge you if you never played it give it a try if you do decide to I would personally help you out on there I play everyday I just hope dcuo the best in the future it will always hold a special place in my heart

@@timothy72688 Absolutely, and the list goes on. You know, I saw early on back in late 2014 that DCUO was going to head in such a direction. It was a combination of constant unnecessary changes and signs of becoming polluted by micro-transactions. There was no longer a sense of true love for the game among that SOE/Daybreak staff. It was as if the priorities had entirely shifted, no longer caring about giving the audience an experience of true quality or substance. It became about a quick dollar. All of that actually forced me to step away from DCUO for a period of 3 1/2 years. When I came back in 2018 the very summer augments were introduced, a great change, thought I could ignore all of the nonsense and just allow myself to enjoy the game for reasons that I did before. But, the toxicity from all of it just lingered; you know? Everything that I saw to soon happen back in 2014 completely came into existence. And, now we’re seemingly at this point of no return to its glory days. Because again, it’s been a near 12 years. What can we really expect to change? I just wish more in the community were sensible enough to call out the BS for once. We’ve got a lot more power in this than most believe. Still, pretty much a final straw for me. And, I’m already ahead of you on the FFXIV switch, haha. I play as a Hrothgar Samurai on the Diabolos server. Amazing how it’s been around for a shorter time than DCUO, yet it offers so much more with a far more expansive world. One of those standards set I was talking about. The gold standard, actually. The question we should all be asking is “If those devs can do what they made possible for their game, why can’t the same be done for DCUO?” There’s no more room for excuses at that point. As a community, we should always hold them to that. Especially, when our hard earned money is involved. If I do ultimately come to the hard decision to call it quits for good, I’m glad I’ve got FFXIV to fall back on

I played DCUO since 2010 and then completely stopped about 2 years ago. DC has alot of issues and it started LONG ago. They completely ignored PVP. Their PVE is nothing more than a mindless grind with bland mechanics, and their payment model is similar to a modile game. DCUO had a strong 1-3 years in the beginning and just went down downhill very fast.

Bro I’ve only started playing a couple years ago on my switch and I literally only played until I finished the main story there’s absolutely no one playing on switch I’ll log on and there’s a few people around here and there and you might run into someone playing but it’s an absolute ghost town I felt like I was the only player online and it’s probably due to the vast majority of people already having account on PlayStation and Xbox and I’ve considered making an account on Xbox but I feel like it’s not even worth it I keep coming back to videos like this to see if anything is changing but it’s all the same they are literally gonna keep milking this till they literally can’t afford to keep the game running

As a Lantern fan there's no better game out there to make your own lantern with whatever customization you want. If they brought in the other powers it would be fantastic. But I never see them adding them. Still, no other lantern game content out there like DCUO.

Yeah, the main reason I play DCUO nowadays is due to all the Lantern Corps and content it offers for us Lantern fans. :)

Hey there... Gotta say, this is the best put together, easy to understand video I've seen on this game, EVER..!! And yes, like you, I've played since launch.. This game LITERALLY launched the day after I got out of the Army.. but unlike most players, I only play it sporadically, hardly but anything, and do it mostly for the Campy/Comic-y feel/vibe.. Always liked your videos. Being I have returned to DCUO and an original beta tester. I have to relearn all the new things in the game. But still loving it. PvP is nothing like the old days. But still fun to play. I have retired General Grid and started fresh with new alts. Hopefully I'll see you in game sometime bud. Keep up the videos. They are very helpful.

I flip flop with my MMOs and just started playing DCUO again. If this game could get some love and refinements, it would attract more players. Desperately needs to go to unreal engine 4 or even 5. Or straight up make a DCUO 2. I’m a huge DC fan so this game is a lot of fun to me. Currently playing Quantum with Red Deaths style. It’s basically leagues sitting around in metropolis not inviting anyone to their leagues 😂 but it’s fun regardless

4/10 was surprising but VERY accurate! I have few hours to play a day with my schedule and the daily shutdown is right in the middle of it !! Literally the only mmo that does that! You hit the nail on the head with that one for me.. I’m already playing wow again so won’t be in dcuo much longer

Totally agreed. 4/10 is pretty devastating for a game score but sad to say it is accurate. And I play every day too - like Eddy, mostly for nostalgic reasons and out of habit.

@@char1363 definitely worth playing (for the customization alone). Like iEddy I would recommend: try it out for free and try not to dump any (or at least too much) money into it. The confined inventory space will freak you out soon but all other aspects are fine if you do not expect to be at "The Top Tier" (whatever that my mean for you). Cheers

what this game truly needs is to be acquired and have a budget again.

In my opinion, as a day one player til the date, they should do something with old content for many reasons: 1.- Best content made for this game. 2.- Loads of old feats that are a bit hard to do for new players nowadays unless you have a really good league/friends. No feats = low sp on current content. 3.- Lots of styles, marks, lore and base items there that also counts for feats. An easy way to do so is by giving veteran players better rewards to run that content. Like, for example, if you are past cr 380, you get this extra, if not, you get normal amount of sm. Maybe give a correct amount of special marks for a new vendor with all kind of styles (from old booster bundles, resurgence, TCs and non pay to get styles). And also and really really important, fix the goddam PvP once and for all. Thats all to make the game great again (appart from solving bugs and maybe restore the ecomomy of the game). Mepps seems like he is not ready for his charge with this game.

Along with the introduction of weapon mastery and whatnot, I remember the hype around PvP when the Gotham Knight gear was released. You would literally get a match instantly after queueing up. Great to see the game's still beating to the best of its ability but, it's a mere shadow of its former self :(

City of Heroes is still the better choice imho. Back when DCUO came out, I left CoH for it. But I went back real quick. Then a couple months ago, I decided to give it another shot. Now, I went back to CoH Homecoming because overall it's just better. No pay-to-win for example. If you wanna play a superhero mmo for free, go CoH.

I still love it a lot, I barely have any problems with it. A really good adventure for anyone who wants to create their own character in the Universe of DC! I always create myself, because its more fun for me :p. Amazing game after so many years still!

Is it still possible to play legends PvP online with ppl? I just came back to this game for the first time in a few years and the On Duty menu is completely different

I'll always remember launch days and when Kahndaq 8 players was the hard raid. I quit shortly after 2015s Amazon fury II. I'd love to come back but what made the game special was my friends and guild. Since those times, half of us are on Ps5, a few of us are on PC, some on Xbox and some just don't game or have passed on. Trying to convince everyone to play on the cross-platform systems and to start over for some of us, (The pc group who doesn't do consoles anymore). Just seems impossible.... So DCUO for me will forever just be an amazing memory I had for those few short years. Maybe a DCUO 2 will swing around in a few years.

I don't know what you're on about , it couldn't be easier , now you get cr skips the content is way easier than back in the day, you can watch tutorials to help you with missions , raids or feats and believe it or not there's always leagues willing to help newbies. I think you're just not trying hard enough.

By any chance do you know what DCU package you need to buy as an U.S subscriber to go up to level 31 because the game lets you Max at level 30 but when you reach to reach level 31 you have to buy certain package I do not know which one that will allow you to go up to level 31 and Beyond

It's because of "Omnibus" system. Stats are locked in older content, basically they lower down your CR and all the stats down to what it used to be when that specific Episode was launched. It's their way to let you experience the original difficulty etc.

We need to get people playing all the time not just for dlc and events.if a few things were fixed in game I'm sure a lot of people would play more often and not just for dlc and events.cause people do still love the game.

The stat clamp hurt the game. I want to feel my toons get stronger as I level them up.

I always come back to this game 👍 2500 hours of gameplay so fare 💪

It doesn't just need a graphics update it needs an overhaul. Fix pvp, add interactive furniture, a story (like quests and chapters akin to City of Heroes) not just two alerts and a raid with some dailies, etc. There is a lot that needs to be overhauled IMHO if the game wants to retain and bring in new players. You can roam a piece of central city and Atlantis not all of it, change the alert system that puts you in a group with one tank, healer, dps, support instead of all DPS. I think the content can be better.

Personally I'm all for new players coming to DC. I personally think it'll help in the long run with population on the game.

If the high cr ppl werent dickheads the game would be fun and the New players would stay, i returned i think 8 months ago to the game and i had a CR of 197 i think but damm every time i que for raid or alerts and i was in a group of ppl.with a cr over 210 they were rude for me being a noob and needed to get my cr up and then they kick u.... like how do i get it if ppl with higher cr keep kicking you and also when New ppl join with low cr bjt Just enough to join a qua they get kicken or yelled at for being a noob not know het to do from the beginning after 1 month i quited again i rlly Miss the dceu from around 2014 that was a dam fun game to play with lots of nice ppl.. now the high cr ppl think they are gods lmao i want to return and play again but tjen i remember that 1 month of how shitty the ppl are in the game now so no wonder why the game is going to die since New ppl dont even have a chance to play and lvl and have fun all New ppl get is kick kick kick

Tbh I quit this game n most mmos in general is that it’s become so much of a chore (keeping up with gear, SP, arts) especially with my limited time now plus hate interacting with a good 80% of what’s left of this community

I've been playing for about month and I'll tell you what, you better have some friends that play this because the community is inexplicably one of the worst and you will end up doubling your grind. I legit asked yesterday very respectfully and nicely if we could a coast city feat to the end and they straight up told called weird stuff, like parasite, get some friends etc. It was super weird, like all I asked was to do a feat

On the EU server we maybe somethimes dead, but we have a great farming group the toxics are more Heros maybe 1-2 leauges thats it Good point is cuz its dead u will not find alot toxics anymore too ^^

At this point i feel its only still somewhat alive is because its willing to provide more mmo superhero content more than any other mmo out there. I am not an og player, i just happened to pick it up when it became free on my ps4 at the time. After reaching level 30, everyone i played with stopped playing, and i only lasted a week by myself. I very recently picked it up again on pc, starting fresh, but i feel my attention for the game slipping, ive already had playthroughs where the game almost puts me to sleep, it just doesnt feel the same. over the next 5 to 10 years i think this game will be over completely, it seems repetitive and new content has ended, and to my knowledge no more dlcs are being added to the game. it was very fun playing it when i did, it takes me back to how much i admired superheroes when i was little, and its very nostalgic because it still captures the early 2000s comic feel that i remember. i think its time for a new and fresh superhero mmo and for this one to be laid to rest

REAL TALK: 1) For the people who are confused with the population number: 350k+ is the number of subscribers OR the total players (active). While 3517 is the number of active players "everyday". For example, yesterday, on USPC/PS server, the total number was around 500+ at the peak time. But that is just for USPC/PS. Now add in EUPC/PS, Steam (because they have separate data) + Xbox servers + Switch servers, you will get the same number around 3517. =) You can check this yourself here: mmo-population.com/r/dcuonline However, there is no way to get 100% accurate numbers for MMOs or games. Especially from a private company like Daybreak. Although, you can see the EG7 presentation for 2020 where they provided the numbers to be around 419k monthly players and 40k subscribers. I used to play this game a lot. I had a really cool outfit. Years later i returned to it and my costume was gone... and locked behind a paywall, lol. Haven't touched it since then. It might not be a dead game, but if the monetization is any indicator, then they are certainly desperate to stay above water.

Personally I enjoy DCUO. I love creating new characters and making them look badass. The fact that the episodes are free is great, means more people can play them. The different locations you can go are unique and fun. I like that you can play the game for free and you don't feel under leveled. The premium is a nice compromise between free to play or membership. I like the bases, making it look awesome. I have a space base that is a combination high tech and a home. The different powers are all fun and unique(for the most part). My favorites are Quantum, Fire, Ice, Sorcery, Light, and Rage. I have met someone horrible people on DCUO, one group kicked me out of a raid just because I wouldn't switch to a tank(I was a fire DPS) and it was just before the final boss. I met one person who was just their to bully and belittle people for no reason. Targeted me because I copied someone else's look(which is true, it was the KZreadr Sound in Reverse and I only copied because I was a fan). I have managed to find a league that are good people and are understanding of others. The seasonal events are great to get some unique items, especially if you still currency from the previous year's event. Been waiting for the Christmas event so I could get ice and snow base items for my ice villain. Overall the love DCUO, it will always have a special place in my heart. Also I wish they could add like a character bio, if you wanted to give your character their own origin that isn't tried to the story. Other people could see them and learn about that character. I do have an obsession with deleting the lowest lvl char. And making a new one because the combinations are offten unique and fun. Maybe not the most powerful but they are definetly fun to play and very friendly user on a group. I feel like on raids doesn't matter what powers ppl have, everyone is actually helping and to see powers not so famous been use is always a fun experience1

Personally it’s such a fun game with lots to do. It’s free, downslope and play it and try at least nothing to lose

Honestly if the powers were free this game would have a lot more players on it, as an MMORPG I expect at some point to have to pay some kind of money for the legendary cosmetics but I think it should encourage the customization and different play styles more, F2P players don’t have a very big option for powers tbh and there’s not alot of incentive for veteran players to continue playing

one big issue is the complicated features that can be intimidating and unbalanced PvP that truly runs this game into the ground. A balanced PvP system and improved update system, potentially a graphics overhaul and you got yourself a winning formula in my opinion. Something that can satisfy seasoned veterans and fulfill the needs of the average consumer is all you really need. I think even making a DCUO2 with unreal engine 5 is something that’s long overdue. I wouldn’t mind that even if it was a copy and paste of the old DCUO we see today just overhauled and implementing simpler features (while not dumbing down the game too much) and a season based update system could really bring this game back to life.

gets boring really fast if u dont own the membership. It really matters if ur willing to spend money or not. It always comes down to that question. You really can be F2P but it really gets to boring. Plus hard to find people willing to help with missions.

Hi there, I play on PS4 (no PS4 Plus) for free with 2 characters. But now I want to create more characters without paying membership every month. I see two options but am not sure which one works or is worthy. (1) Spent $500 marketplace money to get 6 characters and buy 3 power sets. Are the new power sets permanent for use without a membership? I mean, can I keep using the new characters with the new powers? Are the 3 new powers always available whenever I create a new character (within the limit of 6, of course)? (2) Get membership for 1 month. That I know will give me access to all powers and 16 characters. Imagine I create 10 characters with 10 new powers. When my membership expires, do I automatically become Premium and have access to 6 out of 10 newly created characters with the new powers? Or do I need to spend $500 marketplace money still to become Premium and before getting the membership? Hope my questions are clear. Thanks for your help! 🙏🏻

just re advertising the game would help upgraded engine would be the icing on the cake grabbing new players but just advertising would get more players there are ALOT of people out there that would love this game that dont know it exist

Have all the episodes always been available to f2p players? I coulda sworn it used to be different when I played a few years ago bc I felt like I got as far as I could and I needed more episodes to do better content to continue getting better gear but that's when I was in school at the time and i didn't have a membership and I was pretty sure I couldn't play any of the other episodes without the membership so I stopped playing? If that's something that changed then that alone might be worth going back to the game just to be able to play new content I never had access to.

Definitely for the nostalgic reasons. You will have a lot of fun, guaranteed. Just don't spend too much money on this, it's not worth it. Have fun and enjoy the game 😁

@@iEddyGaming yeah I didn't plan on spending too much money but I did probably wanna buy some things bc ima have to restart, I played on Xbox before now im on ps5 and I did have some of the extra powers/ traversal methods I bought on Xbox, probably gonna end up buying another power or something like that again but not too much else or I may get the membership for at least a month bc it gives u access to all the powers doesn't it? So wouldn't it be smart just have the membership for the month and create multiple characters with whatever power I want to keep so whenever the monthly membership ends, I still have access to the powers on the character I created it with?

They need at least 52 character slots. Remove, "cannot trade" Make all chromas and materials usable for each character. I can go on for days. Overall, I still love this game and have fun.

US vs EU server population?

I am new, and I was gonna ask about raids, alerts, and even duos, but after hearing about the community and my anxiety for social interaction I think I will pass on doing that and just be solo, this wasn't what I was going to ask but can you still get higher gear level solo or is it one of them where the best place is raids to gear up? And all communities on most mmo games are quite toxic. I find the only one that heard that is an exception is Guild Wars 2

Hey man! Yes you can still get your gear up as solo but you will missing out on a lot of content, feats etc. There are definitely good people on there too, you just gotta find the right league for yourself. Plenty of beginner friendly leagues on USPS/PC.

Agree on the community. Once in a while you find someone who’s willing to collaborate with you or just straight up help. But metaphorically, mostly it’s a d*ck measuring contest amongst those that severely lack in size. Lots of trash talk by the lamest trash talkers in society. Otherwise the rest is mostly palatable, as long as you’re not struggling financially. I’m addicted to the game for the superhero and DC lore aspects. But I’m tempted to take a break. Having to grind every day just to keep up is such a time suck.

Speaking of struggling financially, I’m in a league where several members are struggling financially, and they’re addicted. They should consider tiered membership (it may exist, but I don’t know about it). Give some folks some cheaper options.

Yeah they don't have any tiered membership options. There has been few months when I had to cancel membership as well because of financial issues. (Covid screwed us). Honestly, since episodes are free, it wasn't a big difference although managing inventory was a pain in the ass 😂

I have to disagree with you, best days to play are Thursdays and Fridays, since every Thursday the Episode Weekly missions reset that they is where you can find more players so completing missions on open world, group missions and Bounties become way easier, Saturdays and sundays, there are way too many rookies who get easily frustrated and quit group missions as soon as something get difficult, mondays and tuesday ara kinda dead exept on the new episode, wednesday usually become more active.

Yeah I agree with this. Thursday and Friday are definitely the best days to play. Wednesdays can be good too as people try to get stuff knocked out before the weekly reset. I also find it helps to play between certain hours if you wanna get group stuff done too. Like, even on Thursdays and Fridays, if you try to queue up for a raid past midnight, chances are high that you're probably not getting into one, even though daily shutdown might still be 3 or 4 hours away. People just don't seem to queue up for stuff near shutdown. You kinda need to queue up from between 6pm and 11pm to have the best shot of getting group content like raids done (and even then you might be in for a long wait) For me though, the BEST time to play is Wednesday night/Thursday morning at around midnight/1am (depending on daylight saving time). That's when the weekly loot drops reset. You'll get a 1-2 hour window where the game is HIGHLY active as everyone goes on a mad dash to try and knock out their weekly open world bounties on as many characters as possible. That's always quite fun!

If they'd just give a coupe more powers for free i'd be perfectly happy with the game

Exactly and it’s even worse we either have to subscribe for them or pay separately and it’s an MMORPG I can put it down as easily as I picked it up, there’s no reason all the cool and OP powers are behind a paywall

What do you do in DCUO? What's the end game? I want to love DCUO but I feel like it can be overwhelming trying to farm feats, level up artifacts, allies...etc

@@-_-DatDude well, friends do help. Some of the people in my league, me included run feats for the people in the league if they need them. It can be a little overwhelming, sure but we try to help any way we can. Including which loadouts to use, what artifacts, allys, where to put your skill points, etc. But most of all, why I stuck to this game, is because of friends in the past and the friends I have now. Hope this helps.

ive been playing dc for 11 years but now and days I just got on to ether show off my godspeed outfits or look at other peoples outfits. if your a new playing thinking about playing I would say take it REAAAL SLOW. don't rush yourself to try and get the best things because you see all these cool/strong looking players around you. Especially if you are new coming player free to play Don't compare yourself to other people. If you do that, then you're gonna lose patience and probably quit the game. I'm always down to help new players get through there missions I'm a high level with high artifacts Artifacts If you wanna quit carry Leave a comment and I'll send you my game name. I'm a healer and a DPS. 2023 is probably gonna be my comeback to DCUO just because of all the new stuff I wanna check out.

We used to get 4 dlcs per year. Sadly now it's 2. Whoever makes these decisions has been doing this for awhile, giving the players less and less while the sub price remains the same and artifacts, allies, time capsules, and booster bundles exist. I play the game obviously and I used to spend a good chunk of $ each month. Now I refuse. I pay for the sub annually and that's it and tbh I'm questioning why I'm paying for that as the monthly rewards usually suck. Btw you said dcuo has 350k subscribers. There is no way dcuo has 350,000 subscribers. In the investor report it said dcuo had around 40k subs across all platforms and around 400k players, admitting roughly 10% subscribe. Also that graph you showed says "350k total players or subscribers." That's very misleading. Daybreak has only publicly shared subscriber numbers once and it was in that report when EG7 bought the game.

Very cheeky of you to edit your comment after I have replied lol making me look bad but anyways you are right. The website stated "subscribers OR total number of players". So, it can be one of those. But pretty sure most people stopped paying after episodes went free 😂. I, also, only pay for monthly membership, but I gotta spend cash on power tokens from time to time because of youtube. Other than that, haven't spent anything on anything else in over a year or two. As far as the EG7 report is concerned, that data is from 2020. And probably a little bit exaggerated but anyways. I only stated what was shown on the mmo population website. So since I showed the real website, my only mistake was to use the word subscribers instead of saying subscribers or players.. As stated on that website.

@@iEddyGaming also how do these websites even get this data? The DCUO API is perpetually down. Also DC like most MMOs is a game where people pop in and out very frequently, unlike CoD or OW2 where people will play consistently for hours at a time.

I am not sure how these website collect data. But since they are collecting data on all the MMOs, I believe they might have access to daybreak's database. DCUO's API is down for the public but that doesn't mean the company can't access their own records. So these websites must be tapping into that.

@@iEddyGaming i just checked their stats for OSRS, the company actually posts their daily active players in real time on their website, that MMO website says the daily playerbase for OSRS is 1.7M people, checking their website at the time of this comment they themselves have listed 49K players playing right now… and I know for a fact that OSRS never tops 150k players (most are bots but still…). So that website seems to be pure garbage bro

You are misinterpretating the words. The website states total daily playerbase while OSRS shows current players online. Two different things bro.
