Hi, love you videos! Could you guys maybe do like a video on how inclusive and diverse Barnard/Columbia really is and whether there is any sort of racism on campus? Especially with the ongoing movement and also being a poc myself I find myself thinking about it a lot these days and it is a big factor for me when deciding where to go to college. Thank you!

i LOVE philosophy and am at a fork in the road in career considering i completed my school thi year. but considering my family's weak financial situation, i dont think i can opt for philosophy just on the basis of my interest while knowing that i wont be able to earn much outta it which is actually the need of the hour. what can i do?

I’m primarily doing philosophy to gain soft skills other majors don’t teCh plus it’s only 30 extra credit hours from where I am. Then I plan on going to law school

This was so helpful I love philosophy sm! I was able to take a class in it at my hs and it was the best thing ever. This is super random but you mentioned the LSAT/law school -- did you consider taking the LSAT/ have you ever done Mock Trial? I'm still just digesting the fact that we are so similar like it's literally almost eerie for me to watch ur vids bc i'm like is this me talking? (I do mock trial lol/ might wanna go to law school but idk) Also my friend is also a fan & she told me she's actually thought that your voice and personality remind her of me hahaha

Omg that’s so funny! And I’ve taken a practice LSAT but never a real one. Considering law school very loosely but as of rn have no concrete plans to *actually* apply. I never did mock trial but that sounds like something I would’ve liked doing!

I took some philosophy classes in college and those classes were very interesting. From my philosophy classes, I got the impression that philosophy is about evaluating the arguments for and against various viewpoints concerning the most fundamental beliefs people have. How would one's belief system or worldview affect how one does philosophy?

It can impact how you perceive things and understand them in philosophy but more so philosophy attempts to “teach” you that your belief can be molded and should be kept with an open mind.

Both at the same time however I'm a a personal psychologist and went with psychology double with the right credit system I'm looking at a long sabbatical. You shouldn't have to work. When you go to the psych ward and they have all these workers. Our philosophy is abstracted.

@@easyandhappylife251 psychology is the scientific study of the human mind and behaviour. It focuses on the different structures of the brain, neurons, the spinal cord, conditioning, statistics, etc etc. Philosophy studies to answer big questions such as Who is God, What is God, Is there another reality, What is life, Is there Heaven. Philosophy is more complicated than that but that’s just a simple explanation

Rhetoric and literacy are what the philosophical English type is. It seems like you don’t enjoy literature. I’ve enjoyed linguistics, but English can also include movie writing, you might want to be a journalist or teacher, etc.

High school English curriculum can vary so widely. My AP English (American Lit) class left some deep scars that will probably never heal. Whenever I was asked the question "What does this image/object/scene/whatever symbolize", my STEM brain translated it to "You're grading me on what the author did NOT write! I don't understand this effing question!" However, intro philosophy connected some nerves in my brain; enough so that I majored in philosophy and mechanical engineering. I do agree that you're in a philosophy program because you like the reading; I still find myself reading my textbooks from time to time(20 years later). Otherwise, you'd have a hard time surviving as a philosophy major. And the training in reading logical, concise material is invaluable to my job as a programmer.

I think if you have a masters degree in philosophy then u can get a teaching job ...easy
