SHOULD YOU LIE AT MEPS TO JOIN THE MILITARY?

This video I react to a video that JTsuits made where a person was kicked out of navy Bootcamp due to them being medically unfit. This is my reaction as I am asked about medical situations rather commonly.

Yeah, you just gotta realize that some parts of your body will be under extreme stress... stress that can cause inflammation of an area if not cared for. For I believe all branches more than 5% of a intestine removed it's a disqualifier. I believe my surgery as a child exceeds that. But, I do have a signature and letter from my surgeon saying that I'm fine. I'm not sure how documented my brief counseling with a psychiatrist; in regards to my depression as a teenager. I'm currently in my early 20's. I also have scars from some kinky shit with this super hot tattoo artist I dated when 19 lol. So with all those potential disqualifications. How likely is to get a waiver from the surgery which is a very apparent scar after all these years. As for the scars I have a lot from skating and moshing when I was a kid lol

I tried to flunk the physical exam. Hearing test, they asked me to raise my hand if I hear a sound or a tone. They did the left side and did not raise my hand. I was looking at not being accepted because of onset deafness. A person who is deaf cannot join, then the psychiatrist interview. I sat with an Air Force Colonel and he asked a lot of "probing questions". One was about my sex life. I told him off that "I love women who wear revealing outfits IE short skirts and dresses, blouses and shirts showing their cleavage, wear high heel shoes, and opening their legs for me" also about having sex with older women. Then he asked this "do you think you are suitable for military service?". I told him "No. I have too many problems and excess baggage which I would be detrimental to the service and morale". I terminated the interview by walking out him told him to "tear up the contract like it is the loosing ticket at the friendly neighborhood race track". Unfortunately I passed. But I did ship out in August of 1984 but was back to being a civilian after two weeks at MCRD San Diego. The psychiatrists wound up giving me a discharge. I got new clothes, $500 and a one way ticket on United Airlines from San Diego to San Francisco.

I get scratches on my wrist/underside of the forearm for no reason. It's a thing. The skin there is so soft, you can literally tell them anything and they have to believe you. I was moving a couch and got caught on the doorway, shit happens. I say that because it's happened to me. The doc asked me if i ever broke a bone when feeling my foot. I said nope, as he was literally touching the exact part of my foot that i broke, gave me a look and said, "uh huh". I had broken it maybe 5-6 months prior to enlisting. It took 4 months to "heal". 20 minutes later i was with 30 other naked dudes doing the duck walk. 2 years later i'm in Afghanistan. As long as what you have doesn't affect your ability to do the mission, tell them whatever you want.

Guy goes" so when did you start cutting yourself?" I said it's from construction. Makes me leave the room and shuts the door and then calls me back in. They tried to scare me, he says if you are lying about this they will find out. Looked him directly in the eye and said I'm being completely honest with you. He goes okay and walks out. I passed. Thought I failed. Got my paperwork and swore in. Not telling you to lie but whatever you admit to will stop the show. You catch my drift. Say no for everything. If your recruiter is good give him a heads up about it. Go over the paperwork with him before meps. Mine said don't bring anything up. " No new news" his exact words. The doc's will try to get you to admit to things. Stick to your story.

If you had a condition that you lied about you could not only make it worse, but if it's determined you had a preexisting condition that aggravated. You will probably be medically discharged, and loose any potential VA benefits/disability you might have gotten. Being in the military is not easy, they have those standards for a reason.

I had a history of drug addiction and enlisted in the navy because I saw my civilian life start to plummet. By either the grace of God or dumb luck I never got arrested for anything. I didn't tell my recruiter thinking there's no record of me seeking treatment and sure enough when I got to MEPS during the medical history interview with the doctor he saw my diagnosis in the system. Didn't even ask me about it and was just like "you're going to need a waiver for that" I passed everything else so I was able to enlist. I got an 80 on the ASVAB so I was excited about the job opportunities. Then after just over 3 weeks my waiver cleared I went back up to pick a rate and sign the contract. The guy drawing up the contract was like "so bad news because of your drug history you don't qualify for the jobs you want (I was trying to get IT, CTR, or IS) because of the security clearance. So ultimately I picked LS and will ship out to bootcamp June 17th as an E-3 because of my college credits. After IT, CTR, and IS LS would have been my pick. I really want to join the Navy. I had a bad breakup when I was 19 (I’m almost 21 now, it’s been a year and a half) and I snuck and took a family member’s Xanax to try to get my mind off of it. Well my mom caught me asleep and realized what had happened and brought me to the hospital. They said I was unstable and mandatory kept me for 7 days. They diagnosed me with “OCD” because I had obsessive thoughts about the breakup which I think is ridiculous. I was always 100% mentally stable before than and always have been after that. It was literally just adolescent me being a fool and acting out because of a breakup. I know 100% that I don’t have OCD. Will the Navy MEPS see that I was once on a mandatory hold in the hospital and/or diagnosed with OCD? Should I keep my mouth shut about this incident because it does not affect me or my abilities at all? (I work 55 hours a week and go to paramedic school and thrive under pressure). I wish I could erase that moment in time. Thanks for any answers!

Hippa protects your medical records they will not know a single thing unless they are public records. They cannot find out unless you absolutely fess up they will try to trip you up multiple times and tell you you can “fess up at this point with no consequences” but their just trying to trip you up you’ll get immediately separated. Don’t even mention anything about the drug usage or xanax it is ALL protected unless you have a drug charge obv. But like this video said choose to lie if you’d like although just take this advice NO mean Next Opportunity YES means uhhh something something but they’ll disqualify you

NICKY MGTV Right, I don't intend to hide it or anything, like you said it's pointless. But, my worry is that it'll be an instant DQ, even though its not technically against the requirements. Its hasn't affected my physical performance I've played sports and was in gymnastics all through high school, I'm also going in as a musician, so it seems off that you can get kicked out for it.

Scoliosis can affect your breathing, and lifting function. But 10 degrees shouldn't be that drastic, also see what your MOS is going to be, if you are going to a desk job, where you sit down most of the time, then just run, push ups, and sit ups for PT, I think you should be fine in the long term. Once you are in, it's also easier to stay in, if you get injuries later on.
