I’m not surprised neither has sold out quickly as so few actually wanted either and only investors buying them now. Definitely the parting out is a great option. There may not be rare pieces but there are useful pieces. Soccer set is a difficult part out but a good one

I bought two (max allowed in Australia) to part out on BrickLink.. I wasn't sure if I was going to start a store but this Camp Nou set part per piece got me to pull the trigger... I've been a bit surprised how much time sorting parts and uploading on BrickLink takes... But it's the most fun job I've ever had:)

@@JakesBricks Yep, I thought I could spend half a day parting out here and there.. But I've spent 14 hours a day ever since opening my BrickLink Store and only made two sales so far. It's ok becuse it's been interesting and I understand more sales come with a bigger Store...

The white profile brick (98283) that comes in the QE set is pretty unique to this set, it only appears in one other set so far, and there are 85 of them in the set. That one item (and the other minifigs included) in this set might really help it appreciate post retirement

I`ve bought both these sets at the mention discount, 40% off, ONLY for the parts for personal use. Two of the Queer Eye, one to keep/part out and one for resale down the line. Great value for money in my opinion. The Camp Nou is now sold out in the norwegian Lego store (.no)

Glad you mentioned part out value. I usually take part out value into consideration when I invest in a set. I sell on Bricklink and see parting out as a potential escape route if a set flops. The part out value of Camp Nou is fantastic when compared to the current sale price. One downside is that it will take a long time to sell enough of the parts to see the majority of the profit from a large part out like this. I'm very pessimistic on this sets value post-retirement, but part out value is so good I bought two.

I agree with the part out value. Its the only way that I could see this set being sold, and boy will that take a while to sell. The Queer Eye set has good value in the minifigs at least, so its a saving grace based on recent eBay transactions.

I have sold pieces/sets outside of BL, and I set a goal to recoup the set cost with the minifigs (at least 30% of msrp) so I can roll it into my next venture. I typically deal with older sets, 80’s/90’s, but I feel that logic works with most themes nowadays. Some themes yield better than most, as expected, but a win is a win.

@@JakesBricks Well it's flip of the coin 😃 There might be people who want the old version of the stadium - sentiment. On the other hand you buy something that will not be accurate in nearest future. Hard to say or maybe that's the reason of retirement and such a big discount on Lego shop online.

On the fence with Camp Nou. Would try to turn it into an NFL/Atlanta Falcons stadium but that's a lot of money just on an experiment. Really tempting tho. It's on backorder but still can't justify biting unless x2 vip or something..

Eleven months after this video the Queer Eye sits on Bricklink around $ 65 / € 60 (MSRP of $ 100 / € 100) and the Barcelona stadium sits around $ 350 / € 320 (MSRP of $ 350 / € 320). Here in the Netherlands the first time I heard about 'Queer Eye' was when this lego set came out, and I've never seen anything else about it since. The stadiums are of course more well known here in Europe, but I got the impression that they didn't do that well.

Insane right!? Gotta be one of the worst investments of all time

Regarding the popularity of the show, I think Queer Eye is very popular. However, I don't think there is much overlap between its audience and those who frequently build Lego. I, for example didn't even know about Queer Eye until this set came out the same can be said of most of my friends. I then learned many of my relatives knew the show but they don't buy Lego. I'm sure there are a few people who enjoy both but not many and certainly not enough to make this set popular.

Grabbed the queer eye set for the apartment, going to try to sell the minifigs. I think the white masonry bricks and the stove top print piece are going to be pretty desirable for people making mocs. Not familiar with selling bricks on bricklink but sounds like a perfect set for that!

I personally might risk it on the queer eye. I think it could do well post retirement just think the everyday people just check the stores and not online like most lego enthusiasts but I could totally be wrong. Sometime we gotta risk it for the biscuit haha

You build the stadium or Queer Eye set?

I already own ManU and Barcelona stadium displayed in a deep pax shelve. Bought Barcelona when it was released as there was a special GWP with it including 5 minifig in Barca shirt. But as nothing was included with the Real Madrid one, Im waiting to buy it in case In goes on discount as they don’t seem that popular

Yes I heard that is well I believe their is a LEGO friends set… the Main Street building I’d I remember correctly that had them as well. But they certainly are quite exclusive and if they stay that way it could definitely help this set long term

FC Barcelona is a top 3 most iconic club of all time. Their stadium holds more than 100,000 people. Most in Europe. If "soccer" were popular in America this thing would be flying off the shelf. Rest of the world must not care about LEGO because FC Barca has more than 100M followers on instagram compared to just 4M for the Dallas Cowboys. This tells me one thing. Folks outside of America don't care much for LEGO.

I think the team maybe be popular worldwide but this set specifically is too large? Too expensive? or difficult to display? I know many many LEGO fans that exist outside the US! So I’m not sure that’s the main factor for this set not performing well

Camp Nou is no longer available in Europe. Temporarily, one could get the set for less than 180,- € (cashback, VIP-points) and get 2 (!) GWPs (Goodall + Pirates) on top.

these football stadiums would've been better in the mid-range Architecture range of sub/low 1K pieces to fit on a bookshelf. as is, they're too outlandish to put down any sort of investment and don't offer nearly as much visual value as some other standouts like the Titanic.

What the sticker seal of your camp nou set? Mine is 39R1 which meant it was made last year, did this set sell that poorly? Did they basically stop manufacting these and they have that many sitting in there warehouse.

As a european and as such exposed to soccer a lot (even though I couldn’t care less) I would say: having been a dad now for 12 years my two boys naturally talks alot about soccer because that is the most popular sport here. When I was a kid in the 80’s Manchester United was the biggest club in the world. But the last 12 years there is no doubt that Barcelona has been the king. My kids barely know Manchester United…

Barca is one of the biggest soccer/football clubs in the world so the fandom is crazy. However, they haven’t been performing as well the last few years so it’s hard to see if this lego set does well. I think if Barcelona get back to their old ways of playing beautiful football/soccer, this set has potential as interest in the club will increase. But still risky, seems like lego have made a lot as they won’t sell in the UK either!😬

I am an European football fan... but one thing you didn't mention is that not only the stadium is hughe to display, it's also extremely boring to make... making 12 the same segments of the stadium/seats where the spectators sit... Both stadiums are not populair here in the Netherlands and the Netherlands has a hughe Barcalona fan base based on the history of the team and all the great Dutch players who played there, Cruijf, Koeman, F. de Boer etc... but it still isn't populair at all so I think It is more of a part out set than a set that people would buy for the fun of building.

I wonder if the view count of this video will be an indication for how these sets do. Good and thoughtful analysis for a couple of sets that are total dogs. Lego is reaching for a couple of new demographics who don't appear to be interested in expensive sets. The rainbow set was cool and had broad appeal even if it was designed with LGBT community in mind. Queer Eye is too specific - LGBT fans of a specific TV show that might not have broad viewership. The soccer stadium was too big, and had such a specific audience. The main investing takeaway will be that you can make some money with anything at a low enough price.

I think in Europa FC Barcelona can do great but there are more things to consider.... Like the club Barcelona is doing utter disgrace, signs of better soccer are there so maybe who knows how the season for them is going to be? If they get far, the risk of the set being more appreciate is also higher. But again, the die hard Barcelona supporter being a lego fan at the same time? I dont know... The queer eye i stay away from. Hope that helps some people here.
