Im definitely picking up SV boxes atm, I can't justify a reason not too $40 a box for these new sets is such a great price to jump in and hold for a while

Right now is the perfect time to be buying Japanese

I'm in the U.S. and just recently got into Japanese Pokemon (been doing English a few years now). I'm just a sealed collector. I've been buying a lot of boxes of these recent sets in the low $30s (below MSRP). Seems like a good risk-reward to me for the long haul. But, we'll see!

Scarlet and violet is definitely a pass until the second half of the block is revealed. Its a good product at the current price but because of their print runs, any ROI would be much better suited with something with half the print run. Everyone looking for Japanese should be picking up all those amazing Sword and Shield boxes.

Congrats on 500, I think you really hit the nail on the head with the arguments against it for me personally. The time frame between releases has just become so close and with us finally getting the silver borders I really see no reason to import singles anymore. It is a shame losing out on the better texture but in my head I just rationalize it as if I ever need to sell off my collection it'll be easier in English.

Very interesting topic, many thanks! I have currently bought a box of each SV BBs just for my collection and also because graphic design on Japanese BBs are far better than English ones, so it means they look much better on display than its English counterparts.

Good take and I agree, people saying S&V aren't good sets are kidding themselves. Out of one box you are getting lots of hits. With Japanese 151 people think it's the greatest set, but the value of the cards inside don't relate to the box price. Funny how for the last bunch of years no one cares about Japanese sets, the Vmax Climax, Vstar Universe and 151 brought all this attention and hype to the Japanese market and prices sky rocketed from people that knew nothing about that market, and post 151 the hype has died off. Since Shiny Treasure EX wasn't well received it's died off even more.

Feels like everyone has forgotten about vstar universe post 151. I think that's still a great option with prices around £70

thank you for the video. However from SV sets which would be then ones with best value? I am getting now some shiny treasure and black flame. Any others you feel has a good value ratio between cards inside and box price in UK market.

hey, thanks for your comment! given that we're still only just reaching the midway point of SV, it's hard for me to gauge which ones are the most undervalued. however, currently wild force and cyber judge are extremely cheap (under retail) on Amazon Japan. given that temporal forces received a generally good reaction i feel those are undervalued - however this also depends on how many further reprints it gets

Shhuuussshhhh dont tell them all how cheap everything it as the moment ;)

that’s fair enough! i actually think specialty sets may suffer more than normal sets from overprinting, but we’ll see!

shame 151 is so much now, especially when you find that on a domestic level the japanese sellers are getting them for a fraction of the price we pay
