Should you delete your BOV?!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Should you delete your BOV? Well I am going to try and find out how bad of an idea it really is! I have removed the BOV at the start of the 2023 racing season and plan on attending roughly 14 Events. These races plus regular street driving (about ~20k miles annually) should prove whether or not its a bad idea!

I don’t doubt it! How many miles did it have on it?

@@zackellis23 hell yeah bro. Can’t wait to see this thing rip!
And 635 into the video proves my point the sound is so fun
GM did this experiment back in the 80s when they didn't put a BOV on the LC2 in the Grand National. With that old Garrett/AirResearch turbo they got around 30k miles before the thrust bearings were shot. This is just a bad idea all around. Akin to "Haters will say it's bad but I like the sound my car makes when I run into a pothole. Let's keep doing it." Please don't do this kids. OEMs would love to save the $xx on every turbo engine and not put a BOV on it but they know it won't last the warranty without it.

Lol
one thing many overlook about bov is the fact they increase your spool up time between shifts, without bov you are allowing compressed air to go back into the compressor which slows down its rpm between shifts so it really is a performance part.let me know if you notice noticable difference id love to know how much truth is with this

Your are correct and hindsight I probably should have mentioned that lol. For me I race primarily AutoX so it’s a second gear run the entire time. My spool time isn’t crucial BUT yes ultimately it’s a power burden. I do plan on jumping to BWS eventually but hopefully I can finish a full season on this turbo! I appreciate the comment!

@@zackellis23 did you feel any difference in spool time at all? I'm really curious to see how things pan out and do hope the turbo lasts.I do suspect there is alot of hype about bov probably from forums parroting each other. but also i cant deny manufactures use them for a reason.well have to wait and see,Love your channel!

@@pigeonsil240sx so it does feel a bit slow to spool up but that could be a placebo effect. If I had a larger turbo it would be much more noticeable I’m sure lol. And I really appreciate the love!
How would i go about doing this if i have a blow off plate? Would i block off the plate or remove it completly and replace it with a block off a plate? Any advice helps.
@zackellis23

so if you're talking about the plate right by the turbo, all you have to do it block it off and plug the line running to it

Yes turbo surge but the noises are amazing. I haven't watched the vid yet but I deleted the bov on my old nismo. It hurts the performance when shifting slightly because the turbo surge slows the compressor wheel down so it takes a sec to come back on the boost. But i liked the sound [:

Yeah I was too! I sold the car to a friend and I told him about it but he loves it too and 3 years later zero issues with the turbo. I can't remember all the specs but it was a decent turbo nothing crazy just a middle of the road like a borge or a garret
Maybe I’ll buy a turbo kit for my rsx and we can do a before and after 😂

@@zackellis23 I just might!!! I’m debating if I want to piece together a custom kit or just get an average turbo kit and slap it on and see what happens 😆 I have all the supporting modifications already so it will be super easy just need to upgrade the fuel pump
as for jdm cars uninstalling bov,i have a sr20det that had bov to atmosphere and would have slight burble misfires when revving or coming out of boost unless i ran recirculated, once i upgraded my turbo to make bigger power i had to upgrade my MAF to 300zx TT unit, doing so ment i could no longer run bov to atmosphere because doing so the car would stall right after going into boost when rpms drop. your car being a MAP sensor are faaar more forgiving.MAF engines just dont like bleeding off metered air and most of the old jdm cars used very unforgiving maf sensors.im sure people like tj and adam are still running a bov its ust recirculated and cant hear it very much.
