Happy to see this getting mentioned in 2024. Interested in your midi files, and will subscribe this evening.

just bought Noire a few days ago and all i can say is the felt piano / emotional preset (pedal sound a bit down) is my absolutly fav for improvising 😅 I dont want a big library like Keyscape, im still a piano beginner and Noire is absolutly perfect for everything i am going to play. Greetings

I have so many pianos but Noire is definitely my go-to. It sounds beautiful and the variety you can get from the tonal shift and color knobs is amazing. I love using the pure piano and turning the tonal shift up, and the color knob down a little. It kind of starts to sound like a felt piano, but with a different sound to the actual noire felt piano.

IMO, it still holds up among the best of them. Pianos are a very personal thing, and i can honestly say that this piano for me is certainly the most musical and expressive i ever played, both from VST's or Digital pianos/synths/whatever... That bass with the sub mic turned on is gorgeous.

Funny, I just picked this up the other night, on sale. These days I'm generally not much inspired by NI's offerings, but I'm really glad I got this - having a blast playing it. Very full bodied, expressive, and I imagine it will cut through a mix well. And yeah, Db is a great key...hits the sweet spot for some voicings I like to use and is just a lot of fun to play in! I'm guessing there's a reason gospel players seem to like this key a lot!

I have to admit, I got it because seems nice enough and when on sale it's 75 bucks which seems quite reasonable to just get your feet wet with a VST piano. At some point I'll go for a bigger library I guess, but right now I didnt want to spend 200-500 dollars.

Noire Pure is my #1 for stand-alone playing, with Garritan CFX a close second. Both are sampled from the Yamaha CFX Grand, as is Piano Colors, which I don't like as much as Noire. Both have a particles engine, which I like, but rarely use.

Noire is my current goto despite owning 12+ libraries and tried the VSL libraries. I think Galaxy Instruments did a great job of sampling this library and I love having all the customisation options. My only complaints is the room it was sampled in is quite dead and I wish there was other mic perspectives that sounded less dead. Also, it’s a shame this library doesn’t have Una Corda (sampled or modelled) but not a deal breaker as it’s rare classical pieces require it. I’m looking to get a new piano library and am very interested to hear how Ivory 3, Garritan CFX and Production Voices 300 Grand compares to Noire.

Whenever I see videos on musical gear where the question is, "is it still worth it?", I can't help but take the position; if you're making music with it and its good, then yes. What's the threshold? Is the Roland D-50 still worth it in 2024? Are making music with it? Then the answer is yes.

Off topic question sorry! Do you record your piano using WASAPI exclusive mode, with something like ASIO4ALL? I've been wanting to integrate Noire with Embers (a MIDI visualizer) in future projects, however latency is an issue unless I use ASIO4ALL, but I then can't record into OBS because of the exclusive mode. But yeah, I've been loving Noire! I'll have my piano back by February, and I cannot wait to play around with it more properly! Anyways good luck with the Patreon! I can't subscribe at the moment, but if my situation changes, I'd love to ^^

Drats! I guess there really is merit to the argument that Macs are better for music production than PCs. In fact if memory serves, this part of the reason why some people use two PCs for streaming. For example I play a lot of rhythm games, but because they rely on WASAPI exclusive mode for low latency, they become impossible to stream, hence a second computer lol.

This happened to me quite often. Assessing a piano sound just by hearing it online is almost impossible. You have to play it. I own noire and I never use it. The best by far is The Grandure. I play concerts and produce tracks every day with it. The fact that it is cheap, just 49 bucks, maybe scare people off bying it or even just checking it out. Many of us already own it inside a bundle and just don't know it.

(and why not c sharp?) for a non pianists like me, it´s much more convinient to noodle in a minor, but as I´m noodling right now in D flat, it´s got something nice about it, too - which I can´t explain atm...

IV used D flat alot for me and I'd probably put some money on this. It's an easy key to noodle. For someone with 20 years experience than it probably doesn't matter but that's probably why back long ago ha as for me with only 4 years experience it's easy to navigate like a few keys with black notes. But I could be wrong.
