Should you buy the Defiant Brandywine 4 pack of locks? + Rekeying
In this video we are going to check out the Defiant model 1008 974 340 Brandywine 4 pack keyed entry set sold at Home Depot
We frequently have contractors, landlords, etc bring these in for rekeying to an existing key so let’s just completely examine the locks while we are rekeying it for the customer.

Thanks for all of the time you put into making another video for us. When the rekey costs more than the lock you know you're dealing with a cheap lock.
Let's take a close look at these while rekeying to a different key. Like them or not, you will see them (as a locksmith) since these are frequently sold during and after holidays for ridiculously cheap. I've seen these as low as $23 ish bucks! So yeah, people will be buying them regardless of your thoughts about them ;)

Great video. I did mostly commercial locks when I was working. Have a lot to learn about residential stuff. Being retired in lake country I see a lot of kwikset and some Schlage.
Those style of doorknobs are everywhere here where i live

By far..Defiant is one of the most popular in my re-Key world. Junk..but at least you can re-key the knobs without a key or picking.
Thankfully I've persuaded both of the properties managements To Quit Buying them for trying to master key ESPECIALLY when the master has 3 or 4 #7 pins 😡

Having that many deep cuts in the master will severely limit the amout of change keys. That sucks working with poor master key system set up. Someone just takes an already existing key and says lets make this the master Instead of taking the time to do it right and leave room for expansion.
being literally behind a Home Depot, we unfortunately have to rekey these often.
They go on sale the same time each year so you know when to replace them.

I try not to get Defiant. Got the OK to Master the 36 social housing units so will be able to ditch some defiant.
