I’m back in the market after having my car totaled. I haven’t purchased a car in 7 years. I paid $12k for a used low mileage Toyota Corrolla in 2017. Paid it off in 2 years. That same used corrolla with double the mileage is $14k. 😭😭😭. This market is insane.

I would say used but depends on the market at the time. When I brought my wife suv I brought it brand new because the used suv market was very hot at that time. It was cheaper to get it brand new I saved a thousand dollars.

The last few years buying new was way better than buying used. New car we looked at was 34k charger.. the used car was 30k with 35k miles.. and it was a year and a half older and it was the same situation at every lot

Older car should have cheaper insurance coverage but it doesn't. $800. For liability insurance on 19 year old car. Credit good and driving record.

Always buy use and let someone else pay the full msrp price for it. This is the reason why I stop buying new cars nowadays.

Used for me. My car would have been 70k new. Got it for 24k buying it 3 years old. I buy high mileage since i dont drive alot. Now the years have caught up with the mileage. I worked for a dealership in the department that handled the invoice. It depreciates significantly because the dealership never paid that amount anyway. You end up paying what makes them.profit over and above the actual cost.

High end cars are a waste of money. You basically said I saved $130k in depreciation, do you realize how many “normal” brand cars you can buy for $130k? I get it you can afford it but it doesn’t mean you need it. All about status, right? Owning more and more land, having a bigger investment portfolio are the statuses I want and I don’t care who knows about it.
