That 993 targa is pure sex. I would never push a 993 hard around a track anyway. Perfect for twisty back roads.

993 all the way I was born in the 80s so I have always loved the classic cars don't get me wrong the new ones look really nice but I would go for the 993

Errr they already are super expensive?? 🤷🏼‍♂️996’s can be had for half the money of a 993

993 for a good Sunday however don't ignore the unsung hero of Porsche and thats the 986 Boxster they're a bargin right now and a up and coming classic .

I hope prices don't shoot up the 993 is my favourite Porsche 911 and one of my dream cars

Get it now, you will not regret it.

Honestly not a massive fan of porches but the 993 is so iconic in its self and I went in a 911turbo and the 4wheel drive system was unbelievable stuck like glue on a standing start but gave you a slight feeling of a rearwheel drive car as you was coming out of a sharp bend or roundabout when putting your foot down 👌

They are already expensive. Do you live under a rock or something? You could have got a 993 for 10k 15 years ago... now they are 50k...

The 993 is a Vario ram engine too been a 97 car , it think the last 18 months 2 years got that revised engine 272 bhp instead of 260 ISH only a bit more but more desirable with low mileage it's got potential to sky rocket in value 👌

Close. But no cigar for you... Started at 272Bhp. Last cars were 286Bhp Vario. ‘96 onwards generally. R.S cars were 3.8’s with 300Bhp. Vario to non Vario, barely noticeable!

@@ektrolleyboy I was close ISH lol , but that was off 20 years memory i like Porsche but I'm not over the top so you gotta give me a bit most people wouldn't know there was a difference unless you're a die hard 993 fan

If your quick you can find a useable one that needs a tidy sub £30K but yes they are definitely going one way!

Let me be honest, coming from a e30 m3 and an e34 m5 which are serious cars jumped to a 997, I really struggled, with the porker, felt too like a big GT as opposed to a lean athlete like Munich’s finest so sold her, (however not tried the 991 cars but also not interested as my feeling is the newer the cars the more distant the driver is factored in the whole experience). I then got my 993, no Cats, RSR exhaust system, coil over suspension and sound cover removed from engine bay and sound deadening removed from inside, RS airbox installed and loads of other little changes and the result is what I’d call sublime. It’s so crazy I’d be buried in that car, it’s that good. The sound at 5k rpm is possibly one of the best car engine notes on earth (my feeling). Mind numbingly and crazily heavenly. Every time I drive her, I can’t help but laugh like an idiot( I shudder to thing what an RS or RSR must be like). I’m so besotted with the car literally. This is my car for life, this much I know.

Did they mention why they left it in the garage for 15 years? Seems extremely strange, did it have a breakdown that they couldn't afford to fix at the time?

The 993 is actually owned by one of our directors. It was always the intention to utilise the Porsche for a couple of years, and then to put it in storage for their son. Now this has happened, we are in the process of making it "showroom" condition again whilst its still in storage, even after only 30k miles she generated a couple of cosmetic issues! We will be documenting the build on our KZread channel shortly.

with everyone jizzing over 964's, prices are crazy. so the 993 in some iterations still seems relatively good value in comparison, for the chance of owning the last of air cooled. obviously, if we were all fucking mystic megs we would have bought up loads of these cars when they hit rock bottom a few years ago and stuck them in storage and made a killing. but we didnt so the more low mileage desirable marks are now 6 figures

I was eyeing a 964 and a 993, test drove both and bought a 991s...

They are not for everyone.

993 is much better looking car of the two. I'd choose that every time without hesitation. New one is faster? So what? So is soulless Tesla. Any idiot can accelerate that quick. Who gives a sh*t about acceleration numbers anymore? A skyscraper elevator is faster than a roller coaster but which one gives you better thrill? It's all about driving and the genuine analog feel that you get from those old Porsches.

What are you talking about? I’m an ex Porsche specialist. And trust me. They’ve peaked and now they’re dropping! They went through the roof 24 months ago. Love your channel, but your research is way off on this one. 355, 328, 348, Cosworth, 205. They’ve all peaked and settled back down again. Will they drop more? Yes. I believe so. But not a massive amount. The 993 market is definitely a bit sticky right now for tiptronic’s and cabriolets. However you are right in the fact that the days of 15-25k 993’s are probably never coming back.

You are probably right, but with the current climate, it’s difficult to know what values are going to be in future. Though the 993 were never really cheap cars but in general it’s a buyers market for cars now due to the pandemic. My thinking is buy cause you want not because you want to make a quick buck. Those days for the greedy are likely done and thank for for that. Let the real enthusiast buy this cars to enjoy and discourage speculators or dubious greedy sellers or dealers.

That is truly one of the worst interior specs I've ever seen.

Can not see 996 being the same type of classic as a 993. Face it everything after the 993 is bigger plastikier mass produced and boring. Maybe the 991 can come close.
