Should You ACTUALLY READ the New CFA Level 1 PRELIMINARY Readings? Advice How To Pass

Meet Nathan Ronen, CFA, Lead Instructor and Co-Founder of Chalk & Board. In this video, Nathan addresses a candidate question topic that's arisen after the 2024 CFA Level I curriculum structure changes, namely: "Should you actually read the new 2024 CFA Level 1 preliminary readings (CFA pre-requisite readings)? Are the new CFA preliminary readings optional or required? How important are the CFA Level 1 pre-requesite readings for the Level I exam?"

Are 3 months enough to pass the CFA Exam Level 1? (full time studying for someone with a business degree but no background in finance)

Good question! This is not a yes or no answer. It can be done, but it depends on certain factors. If you’d like reach out to Nathan directly on the Chalk and Board website (link in the video description above) he can advise you based on your circumstances.

Hello,If one fails in August 2023 cfa level 1 exam, can they reappear in November? Or do they have to wait till February 2024?

Good question - the registration window for the November 2023 Level I exam closes on 8 August. You won't receive your August exam results by that time, so the answer is "no" to November 2023.

The answer often depends on you and your background. There's no "one sized fits all" approach to passing these exams. If there were then pass rates would be higher. It's impossible for anyone except for CFAI to answer this question with certainty. But it is possible, for example, that some of the main concepts from the preliminary readings could appear on the exam in an integrated way with the core curriculum. If that happens, you'd probably answer the question or identify the nuance they want you to spot for the answer more easily if you read the preliminary readings.
