CFA here. Honestly only worth if you have a random degree in unrelated subject like chemistry or whatever and want to transition. Also if you’re joining from a different industry. Otherwise honestly, wouldn’t bother.

I have a question , I got like in 90s in 11th and I’m going to 12th and I’m very scared cause I don’t know what i want to do after 12th, I don’t have the confidence to do cfa , and i just wanted to know how many hours is required to study it cause i do want to spend time with others too, after my studies… and how did u get the confidence to do so?

I dont understand why people constantly overlap IB with the CFA. Being an active player in this space, the designation is most active in traditional AM roles in PM. If you're younger, I'd suggest you go for the designation. You'll make the time for networking, studying and working. Plus the CFA journey weeds out a lot of undisciplined people quickly.

im a stock broker. CFA is not needed for my job in deciding which stocks to pick. you just need good common sense, sharp ear and eyes on monitoring changing economy factors around you. but if i am pursuing career in asset management company like bridgewater, vanguard, i would probably take the exam, eventho it is not required. CFA does help in furnishing your resume and stand out among other contestants.

You can definitely get internships without experience, start low at a financial planner or something and use that as a springboard for something else. Social anxiety is annoying but can be overcome by just consistently pushing yourself outside your comfort zone unless you’re actually severely debilitatingly anxious in which case yea be a quant or choose a new field.

Not a CFA but have the work hours previously in banking, and writing Level 2 next month. Wouldn’t bother if you want to get into Investment Banking right out of school. Focus on interviewing and internships, extra curricular’s such as case comps, and grades with finance major. At most, CFA level 1 in your last year of University if you already have an offer and are a real hardo. CFA helps if you want to work in a director role in any area of finance/banking, and may be necessary if you want to work in portfolio management. CFA can be great if you don’t work IB hours but want to strengthen your knowledge and resume in addition to your job.

I truly believe it's a wonderful certification to have, but it belongs to the Elite only. So for most people hesitating between an MBA and the CFA, I'd say go for the MBA 100%, as you will get tremendous benefits from the MBA only. And you will save SO much time. And even make friends!

In indonesia, CFA charter is very respected because only hundred charterholders there versus thousand financial executives needed (country's HRs quality were very low which most of them can't fit the qualification needed). Different from US, where there were thousand charterholders.

It is right for you. CFA is not an investing course. It will teach you statistics, economics, financial reporting, corporate finance, equity valuation, bonds valuation, alternative investments etc. etc. Obviously not everything will come in handy, but as an investment banker you will have to know how to evaluate M&As, or deals, different financing stuff etc. What CFA will offer you is deeper knowledge in those areas as well as knowledge in other areas so you can be well versed in finance and in dealing with creative things. As a beginner banker where your job is basically overpaid guy from easy things maybe it won't come in handy, but in later stages I would assume it would be a great asset to have more knowledge than your peers.
