I've worked conventions for over 30 years and since non tattoo money men got involved to earn a buck and leach on the back of our trade, the humour and uniquness has slowly been eroded to a sanitary hollow shadow of what they use to be. They use to be fun for us (hard work but fun) we use to fuck about all day long and most of the night, interacting with the loons that made up the very unusually unique tattoo convention scene that we all love.

Hi guys, thanks for another great show full of insight. Just been reading about george burchett this week in a bit more detail and I'm always fascinated to know that their is nothing new under the sun. I find it amazing that the guy was doing permanent makeup as far back as then. Also I know it was only a brief comment regarding woke Culturists and the de-working class of tattoo culture but it's an interesting thought. You only have to look at some of the things that Edward bernays did to raise the profile of certain products, like making it desirable for women to smoke cigarettes through PR campaigns to know that this sort of thing goes on barely beneath the surface all of the time. If there's money to be made, someone will put their grimy fingers in and change things in order to reach a wider audience.

This episode cheer me up, cheers guys. What make a cool episode is to see how both your works have changed. Maybe we see your first tattoos 15 years ago to what your doing now. Maybe talk about how and what’s helped you. Again thanks for putting a grin on my face if not only for 40mins

Great show guys, Tattooing has come a long way since getting my first "real tattoo" back in the 80's as tattooing continues to evolve it reflects the changing dynamics of society and the innovative marketing strategies that have made it accessible to a broad audience becoming the widely accepted form of self-expression we all know and love remains a testament to the power of art and culture transcending boundaries and connecting people from all walks of life. That being said it seems that the new generation perfers the nerfed down version quite a bit (if memory serves it was called a gun back in the day) rest assured the crazy train is still alive and well, I'm just not sure everyone is ready to see how far that rabbit hole still goes.

I'm training at the moment and enjoying listening to you guys while I study. You guys have give me such a confidence boost!! My question to you is this, I'm getting as many certificates and training certificates as I can before I apply for my licence, is there any that you would recommend!? I'm in Scotland. I'd also like to say keep up the great work you guys do, and thanks for all the laughs, which I'm sure the office next to me can hear. 😜

thank you for discussing my thought and observation of tattooing. You totally get the shift in the Industry Paul 🙏 Cult of Paul for life 👍 yous did get sidetracked a bit with view on Remi blackout. Both Edinburgh and Barcelona tattoo convention had no weird or wonderful curiosities 🤔 the booths in Barcelona wer like office cubicles

Nope, when coppers have full sleeves you're being mainstream, can't stand the curly letters peeps get their loved ones names tatted. I remember a time where just walking into a shop took balls, ofc the bikers, punks and skinheads all turned out to be very friendly but still....

Merci! Good morning ! Very interesting that bit about Victorian tattooing. I would love to do an intro " what's in the news Chris?" My adhd was triggered so i didn't listen to how you want it to be sent, i was imagining myself wearing a dreadlock wig trying and failing to do a british accent... which is not a great idea. Anyway 🙋‍♀️ interested Always a pleasure to listen to you guys !

People in any other form of job don’t try and take sexual favours as payment, people like that just cast a shadow over tattooing almost in an attempt to drive it back underground.

I agree with you but the comment drive it back underground, I don’t agree. In The USA, the reason it was underground back in the day was because Tattooing was illegal.

Feels like Chris is so far off base with the Lucky Diamond / Ephemeral Remy take, several comments of "it's been done before" with a tone that suggests it shouldn't be done again because we've done it, there is room for refinement, expression, and documentation, should we just stop at the first attempt?

  • @ThatTattooShow

Not at all, i said it’s done before because people are acting like it’s not been done. Nothing more nothing less. Also understanding that it’s been done before will allow you to see the limitations there is with that

24th year in the industry. I don't think we can put the genie back in the bottle unfortunately. We are completely over saturated with mediocre talent who had little to no training before calling themselves a proper tattooer. We have all these part time moms tattooing in their spare time. I miss tattooing all day and then partying all night with a proper group of hooligans. I don't even scare grandmas anymore...WTF!?!?!?! bahahaha Love you guys!!! Stay Safe!!!!
