Go with 4. It might feel ‘too big’ at the moment, but you’ll soon fill the space - dedicated VO room, viewing room for corporate film projects etc etc. You don’t want to move into a small space only to outgrow it 6-9months down the line and have to start the process again.

absolutely agree with 4 there, having expansion room will be so critical for future-proofing.

the answer!
Option 2 in spite of the Garlic. Having the MOT station right in the parking lot is excellent. Plus, you'll be safe from vampires.

😂😂
The final one seems the better deal, much more separation between Noisy garage and editing, sound suits. More room to expand into (which you will easily fill). As the channel grows you can utilise the areas better. Don't forget server room will make a tonne of noise and will need good airflow. It really depends on your actual business needs and the lease terms and conditions.

Certainly a lot more scope with 4.
2 or 4. two has the MOT and easy to get parts, but 4 has more space to expand into when you grow, and everything grows.

Option 3 also has an MOT centre a few doors down, a parts company opposite plus a decent independent coffee roaster!
I’d say go with number 4. You have to remember, don’t plan for 3-5 years, with the earnings potential of Drive Tribe in the next 10 years, you have to focus on where you want to go and the subsequent staff, gear, video editing and other things that you won’t even know you will need until down the road. 4 is the one. Cheers!
I feel 4 offers the most room for future expansion (more staff and equipment).
4 you have indoor room for storage lifts for cars as well as room for lift to work on cars. plenty of office space and inventory. more room allows for expansion, if you go small you end up having to move and that becomes expensive, moving shop equipment, tools, computers lighting etc. not to mention rerouting logistics before/after moving
As an editor myself, has to be the 4th option, better to have something you grow into, plus you can have 1 room dedicated to audio, with more isolation and proper sound panels. The 2nd (garlic place) office is no bigger than what you've already got really and it's not ideal to ram everyone is one room, you'll soon out grow it, 3 is better but still a bit agricultural and "scattered" room wise. 1 is a non starter. And please, help your editors out and buy them a 2nd screen, being a multi screen editor, I would never go back to a single screen unless I was on location.
Option 4 is the best. Big space, enough for everyone on the team and all the project cars. Also, all the rooms have windows, which allow for good natural lighting (keeps people happier, healthier and more productive).

Also lower electric bills.
Visiting different specialists is my favourite bit, if you hire a mechanic it removes an ingredient. It's not just about the cars, it's about the story of the build.
2, looks more comfortable as a work space and the MOT station next door is very handy, not just for MOT's but brake testing, emissions, etc.
I say 2. The MOT station being in the same lot is too convenient to pass up.

Having the MOT might be convenient but the original complaint was that the office space was too small and didn’t really seem like it would’ve been much of a size increase for that side of the team.

@@MoreDRIVETRIBE that smell will get into your clothes and any cars stored there, also bugs. You want to go on a date with the lady smelling of stale garlic? It will also start to effect your taste because your nose gets used to the smell. I worked in a food production plant in college, any time we used garlic it was the worst.
New challenge: Work from your own cars, much more space than the attic aha!

Option 2 looks great. Also gives 'Even smaller cog' vibes 😂
Something I can say from experience is grab more than you need, if you can afford it, when expanding. With the quality of your vids, and your future plans, you'll be happy to have some extra room to ease into as things get bigger for you 👍✌️
The only correct answer is #4! You'll need all the space you can get henceforth. And I'd enjoy seeing a full episode of Lucy's travels being filmed solely in that space, with all its confusing doors and random hidden corridors :D
Option 2 is great, fixes your current needs and is perfect for the right now, HOWEVER, the way the channel is growing and content is coming out i'd reckon within 1 year it'll be small. Option 4 gives fixes what you need for the now and also will give you room to expand as the channel grows and more people (and cars) are brought in.
Option 4. As well as space to expand you could use any empty rooms/walkway as storage for car parts.
Number 4 seems to be the one with the most potential. But it should also be the most pricy one. But it also offers more suspense with "will we get MOT?" segments. The other one is just to close to the MOT center for that :)
Option 2 looks great. I’d turn that mezzanine into another office space. Extend the main bit!
Option 4. You don't want to be surprised at how quick you outgrow the others
I'm feeling the 4th option. It's got the room, you guys can close the plethora of doors to isolate noises and it's got the best floor space arrangement. Not to mention you could turn that motor room into a detailing room with 5 million lights.
Number 4. And if you take it, you can call it More-Door, because WTH is even going on there?

#4 is the best. Lots of windows, great space. Paint can do wonders, at very little cost.
@Gillotronique

You are right. Natural light from windows is very important for your eyes when you look at a monitor all day long.
4 seems like the best option. A lot of usable space and better privacy and isolation for getting the logistics and production sorted.
4 looks like the best option, i think with some of the smaller ones you would quickly run out of room, and you would definitely be able to hear all the work being done on the cars, which if you're trying to do a voice-over would not be ideal. Along with the carpet replacement, you would want to knock out some walls and make it a more useable space without so many doors and strangely shaped rooms/hallways. But i think that's the one to go with

That would be absolutely brilliant. Two of my favourite spheres of motoring journalism.
Option 2 is the best all round, the Mike office is easily big enough to put a sound booth in and you can easy fit in 2 ramps.
Option 2 seems the best fit for you guys and just stay with the windows closed most of the time, to keep the garlic smell away
Having done this upsizing operation a number of times, my only advice would be to get the biggest place you can afford - you WILL expand to fill it.....
General consensus is either 2 or 4 and I agree. 2 because of the MoT shop and 4 due to the size and expansion possibilities. Good luck and I cant wait to see where this goes.
i prefer the second. very warm atmosphere....
Names four places in the south of England and states “all over the UK” 😉 great you guys are expanding though 👏🏼
Garlic and 4 are the best I think. Although 4, needs some nice renovations to get rid of the weird maze layout of it.
You will always grow to your environment. Pick the largest.
I few years ago the drivitribe offices where much larger. It was a massive operation.
2 looks airy and spacious. 4 has a lot of office space and doors 🚪but if the project is to accommodate more car space, then 2 fits well.
Was really hooked on location 2, but with a definite caveat of the smell. However, when I saw number 4, I was sold. Space in a operation like yours, sounds like it is alpha omega
Did Lucy go ? I know nothing about video production, but I'm gobsmacked that it takes 8 FT employees to do it. Obviously #4 is the answer. But we need to see what he local lunch options are for each warehouse. A VT army marches on its stomach

There's a lot more to production than just the people piecing clips together. The whole live crew, a sound engineer, probably someone who does rendering/artwork, a production coordinator, often some kind of generic assistant/gofer, etc.
Heh guys, drop me a line. I’m an architect and close follower of Drivetribe. Your option 4 looks the best with most flexibility. Happy to help plan out your offices so you get the best out of the space. We definitely need to lose those doors! Would love to get involved and make the space really work for you. Garry
Go #4 and Mike gets the walkway as an office!
2. It has the MOT test centre and can draw on their contacts.
Options 2 and 4 for me 2 would be super handy for the MOT centre
I reckon 2 with the MOT garage next door, could be well handy
2 or 4. Probably 4. I mean, yeah, at 2, the MOT nearby is nice, and personally I _love_ the smell of garlic (🥰), but I suspect the tribe is gonna keep expanding and it'll save time/money if you don't have to move _twice._ Then again, starting in a smaller place gives you the chance to figure out how you like things before settling into a bigger one.
4 and rejig the office space into something more usable.
Options 3 & 4 seems the best, lots of room for a workshop and office
Let’s go 4 plenty room no smell👍🚘🚘
Option 4 is the best one. You can have more than enough space for now and have leftover space for growing into. And the garlic smell could cause a lot of problems down the line. A lot of people are sensitive to smells and it would be dreadfull to work in that enviroment.
Option 5 ...Keep looking ? None of these seemed ideal or have compromises . Perhaps designing your own space would be best ,
I would say two or four, 2 because of the MOT and 4 because of the space, which I'm sure you will need in the future. Also 2 has the smell, so that marks it down a bit.
Option 4 but I'd personally redesign the layout / totally gut it & start a fresh A bit of imagination it could be unique Put windows on the dodgy walkway creating a viewing platform for visitors for example
#1 is an allotment shed. #4 seems to have the most room, but with all the doors and a walkway to nowhere, it's hard to gauge the actual size.
Option 4 followed by option 2. Space is king and height for car lifts is essential.
Boss man seems like a lot of fun.
Wonder if in number two the joisted section could be built out on for more office space?
Option #4 - the odd spaces and hallways provide plenty of options for Watercooler placement. No office space is complete without a Watercooler!
I think you need even bigger, it's time to acknowledge just how big a team there is and will be. Option 4 is a maybe, given the growth of Drivetribe and number of people already on staff, the others are too small. Didn't see kitchen or toilets, so also depends on these factors too. You need enough for I would guess around 20 people, to cover at least 2 years company growth & expansion, so 2-4 toilets and a decent kitchen, plus around 3-5 office spaces for 2-5 people each with space for 2 screens (1.5m desktop space each) and another 2-3 individual spaces for the bigwigs, a skype/quiet/ voice-over room and a meeting room... plus the workshop and storage spaces, server room and probably something like a lab/ tinkering area. Yikes! Full-blown company you got there now!
1) the pro is that you keep the noise of the shop away from the editors but, it is small, it doesn't address the office space issue, travel between the office and lock-up and realistically, you'll outgrw it within 12 months. 2) the pros is everything is in house, you have a MOT station on site, it ready to move in. The cons are still space.... bigger than 1 but would still likely outgrow it in the medium term, the smell, food processing is not great but also their is thin walls between the workshop and offices and noise would travel and disturb editors, voice work etc. 3) is hard to say as you don't get a true perspective but expandability with units. 4) pros, mega space, lost of office space, mostly isolated and dispite the layout, most of those office walls would be easily removed and revised to fit your needs. The big con is the cost in the short term.
The second place looked nearly ideal, but I would really worry about the noise coming from the workshop area into the editing and recording suites upstairs. That might be a big problem. Also, do you really want to smell garlic every single day? The third one felt about the same without the garlic smell. The last one, to me, felt like it might be the best option , it looked like it had more office space and that space also looked the nicest. If I had the choice it would either be the third or fourth option.
Interesting that, at the end of the walkway of option #4, they appear to have blocked off a fire exit. If they have I would suggest that the exit sign is removed. Would not have thought it would be legal to keep it there.
Like pretty much everyone else is saying, either option 2 or 4. 4 Seems like the most useful option in terms of the building itself, and i can imagine that walkway being transformed into a "Commander's Bridge", but it's a bit unnecessarily roomy. Option 2 seems fun, it's kinda compact and cosy, it gave me grandparent's attic vibes (a good thing in my experience), plus it has the location perks. Option 1 just didn't seem suitable, a bit of a restore buy, and option 3 just seemed plain. I'd go for Option 2, and you'll probably have to name the place "Carlic".
Go with 4. Room for not just expansion but hijinks as well.
I think 4 would give the best potential for filming, you can never have too much space.
Location 2 just seem way more complete in general and with the added perk of the MOT station, it just seem to good to pass up. Unless it's a lot more expensive. (Also, the garlic smell is gonna get drowned out by petrol and oil in no time)
2 is nice with the MOT being near...but 4 is nicer as a workplace...when you have more cars storage might be a problem with 2...man it's a difficult one
Number 4 you have room to expand also you wont have to worry about having storage places Everything is in 1 place.
Probably option 2 if you need a mechanic/ Mot tester let me know, I live in the bath-Bristol area
After owning an operating my own business for years. I have to suggest you go with four if you can economically afford it. I’m guessing you can since you were making it an option. More space is always best. Especially in this business. You don’t wanna have to be packing up and moving everything every couple years. Go big or go home.
No4, more space, more office windows, change office lay out, big enough for working and car storage ramps 👍😎 Once they know its Drive Tribe parts deliveries will be prompt 😉
Have seen it right that 3 has two separated sides? This would make it convenient to film one project on one side and another on on the other side...
#2 for sure. MOT + Garlic, awesome.
Go with 4 and open the office spaces up to make it a few offices instead of a million. You'll have more options for growth. Open plan offices work well, especially when it comes to collaboration between people \ teams. Number 3 doesn't look amazing, but that could be the camera work. Number 2 is the second choice. Convenience of the MOT garage, BUT lacks space for growth. Number 1 is a no go. You'll outgrow it in moments.
I think the last one is the best, 2 was very good but just imagining the smell would drive me mental.
I like 2 and 4, but I think 4 offers more room for expansion going forward
not sold on option one at all even with all the parking. i really really like option two especially with all the motor trade benefits but office space-wise i think you'd be better knocking through the first office wall to make one large space for the tribe (unless the two suits needs better) and one boss double window office with an inner (maybe privacy glass window watching the tribe and the already installed outer window. option three would be my second choice, very useable and adaptable space. option four gave me a headache despite the lower level being nice and airy and good for serious shelving storage.
2 or 4.... you can always knock through some walls to make more of an open space office
Definitely 4 - room to expand into !
Option 4 and I will be happy to make tea for everyone...
Well if 4 is a option it’s best option
2 or 4, awesome locations
Second one. Neighbour sounds very handy.
2 or 4. 2 for the MOT nearby, 4 for the space.
Option 2 or 4. I think 4 will require alot more work whereas 2 you could move in instantly
I would prefer option 4. Lots of natural light in the office is great. And you don't want to work in a space that stinks with garlic every day.
4 has A/C. 😀. What is the square foot charge? What tenant improvements are included? Commute time? Internet access? Are those huge motors thrown in?
@MoreDRIVETRIBE

Internet is very important! All of the properties have a 1Gb fibre connection available 🙂
Option 2 without a doubt 👍(I love the smell of garlic though. 🤣
Number 2 or 4. If the budget allows go with 4 and do some work at the office area so it's more logical and flowing
Problem with office in a work shop with editing and stuff is noise and what not from the workshop into the office. You be better with a bit more of a separate office and workshop layout. 3 or 4 works bigger spaces yeah but you’ll fill them quickly
Definitely 2. Love garlic!
4 seems like the best option
all of them. you can never have enough cars!
2 seems much more practical, you might be able to get like some sort of aircon unit that can deodor the unit too
Is this to compete against Richard and the Smallest Cog, or work with him/it? DRIVETRIBE seems to be heading in opposing directions!
@ljphoenix4341
Ай бұрын
It would never be competing against The Smallest Cog, just having their own DrTr workshop space means there's more flexibility in filming, working on cars, not having to use up valuable workshop space in Smallest Cog.
Option 4. There is plenty of room for future growth.
4 all day long. You can never have too much space.
Number 4 is the best option, room to grow, no smell, plenty of space
2 seems to fit your needs best
Option 4 or 2
Definitely option 4. No garlic smell, lots of space for offices and car stuff downstairs
