Going all in with this crew is a sure fire formula for years more misery. There are just too many holes to fill for the Leafs to go all in, so it's just wishful dujmb to go for it knowing you have to give up future assets. Leafs have a structural problem financially in that too much of the cap is tied up in too few players and, until that is dealt with, there's no sense making it worse by going all in when there's no chance...

Welcome back!!! Happy to see you in my feed again I would like them to add but be smart like you said. I think Jones should get traded, I know he has been good but trading him for a 3rd to 5th to LA or COL makes sense to use that to help add somewhere. I believe in Woll and Sammy still. Most teams dont go 3 goalies deep in the playoffs. Puljujarvi is a guy I like. PTO for the AHL penguins I believe still so no assets to acquire him, just money. He has put up good defensive metrics in the past and I think would be great on a line with Kampf and Jarnkrok as more of a shutdown line. So you added a winger and got an asset for Jones and u can stomach giving up a little more for a dman to help the blueline hopefully the next couple playoff runs ideally. No suggestions here yet. I do see the urge to punt on the team though and still would consider it. Trading guys like Bert, Domi, etc. could net you assets to flip for guys at the draft or something to help the team even more next year. Just my thoughts rn. Still time and games to play to see how the team really is and probably going to need most of that time to figure it out.

The only type of deal that makes sense at this juncture is a hockey deal that satisfies 3 criteria. *Those 3 considerations are: 1. An upgrade to the current roster 2. is not a rental 3. doesn't put a major dent in the asset cupboard.* Of course this is easier said than done but if expectations are lowered, in terms of the status of the player(s) returned, it begins to make sense. For example: Nick Robertson, Conor Timmins and a 5th round pick to pry Philip Broberg away from the Oilers. Robertson can be replaced with Alex Steeves, Timmins replaces the right side depth on D that the Oilers are giving up in Broberg and the Leafs can spare a 5th round pick. This is just an example but it is my hope that this is the type of deal we see leading up to the trade deadline. All indications are that the Leafs are running back the core 5 this post season and for next season. Nothing serious can be done until John Tavares is off of the books and T.J. Brodie is a distant memory anyways, so planning for that day now is paramount.

Yea there are too many holes with this roster to trade the barn away. The best idea is to add one UFA player, since they could be cheaper, at the deadline you know you'll re-sign and work from there. This coming offseason we have a lot more cap room to play around with re-signing players.

After seeing what the Canucks did last night, I am actually getting really angry with the Leafs. I'm fifty-six, and watching the Circus in TO right now disgusts me; been a Leaf fan since I was about four. Four of the top nine paid players in the league play for the Leafs, which means there isn't enough money for the rest of the team. There is no heart, grit, or even a sense of team with these four, it is just about the money. Leafs management are a joke, and when you look at Vancouver and what they have done in the last eight months, it is gut-wrenching. We will never win a cup, we will never be a team...there is a reason that every trade acquisition we have made, leaves the following summer. Something is rotten, Tavares is NOT a captain, and watching him skate away after a challenge was made was sickening. Seven years and no improvement!!!!! I was a Marner supporter, but now I want the NMC removed and Tavares and Marner should be sent for guys that will show-up to the playoffs, and show some heart. Matthews for all his size does nothing but pad his own stats, they don't deserve to be on the same payroll that includes former Leafs in the organization, guys like Wendel and Darryl!!! Enough!

Huge leafs fan. The leafs need to do things the right way, meaning if this is Brad's team. I hope he sits back and watches the team for the rest of the year, then and only then he could fix the team and tweak the leafs the way he wants to. Keep in mind Dubas screwed leafs nation which makes it tough for Brad.

Treliving needs to hold pat unless something blows the socks off him in any deal first I would say there are only two prospects I would not trade that is Cowan and minten I would try to acquire chychrun as cheaply as possible I would like to see McCabe and beniot as our number 5 and 6 defenceman next season acquiring chychrun takes care of one of three d man we need for next season brodie gio and lilejgren gotta go leafs desperately need a 2 nd line centre Tavares has taken two steps back and needs to go to the wing they need a upgrade in goal outside of woll they have nothing

  • @theadventuresofjimmycrapol8827

HELL NO - not with this team. This is the year they should just stand pat - because this team isn't going anywhere in the playoffs. We don't have barely any draft picks as it is, and I just don't want to see the Leafs selling the farm for a bunch of guys who'll jump ship on July 1 again. The only round this group has won was when Vasilevskiy couldn't stop a beech ball. I wouldn't even say the Leafs didn't win that series - rather Tamp Bay lost it - and yes, there is a difference.

Imagine if we had drafted only defencemen over the past 6 years. Just imagine that. 6'6 RHD 210 Schnieder Ghule Durzi stays (sorry the muzzin trade was a bust) THEN, I would say, OK, add a top d-man (not Reilly!) or add a guy who does it all, like AHEM, Hyman, Kadri, Brown (Bunting who took out Cernak which single handedly won us that series because he was a 25-30min a night stud) to bring the grit to the team. but with this group of pansies?! save your pick and draft a stud defenceman already!

Personally, I do not believe this team has it. I do not think they should be trading more future assets at the deadline -- especially for guys without contract. Dubas did this too often the last few years. But more importantly, they need to trade out some of the ineffective players and make room for guys who are brought in. Dubas did not seem to understand this -- he did not trade out roster players so the guys that came in had to wait turns to get game time. This is inefficient and ineffective. And if you are trading out guys, how about trying to trade UFAs instead of just having them walk in the offseason?? The player management of this organization under Dubas (I keep almost typing Dumbass) was pathetic.
