I would most certainly go to another surgeon. In fact another hospital. This surgeon is a Jew hater and I suspect some of his team are. If sean goes under anesthesia anxious the outcome will be compromised. I urge Sean to go elsewhere please.

@@zweed69 It's also fair to remember that all the health care practitioners who got a SNEAKY VACCINE EXEMPTION ( 11000 of them) with regards from the one and only Dr Blomfield, did so coz their experience and expertise were regarded as life saving with higher Education and its corresponding higher pay cheque . They did so with absolute anonymity.... Reason being the general public would of suffer the consequences of them not being able to be at work. As you saying Not so for the GP doctor and his nurse practitioner. This guy it's showing a clear mental imbalance in regards to his objective judgment. There are professions that force you to keep your opinions to yourself and being a heart surgeon it's one of them.

Sean. This is a very serious matter. It would not be fair on you OR the surgeon to allow this procedure to go ahead. It would be prudent to defuse this situation and have the procedure performed in another main centre. Under the circumstances the Wellington Hospital Board should pay all costs involved. This is an intolerable breach of ethics by the surgeon. He should be disciplined but you should not be involved further (other than to make an official statement). You are understandably anxious about your medical problem and the treatment. This just makes it more stressful for you. Best wishes.

Sean, I spent all my working life in the health care sector. I was brought up to believe that Dr’s because of their intelligence to pass their exams had overall special qualities. I was wrong. They have just as many stupid people in their profession as most other sectors of society even if they are excellent at the work they do. Can’t do their tax, Have no understanding of other peoples problems other than within their medical specialty, Don’t know how to bring up their kids etc. So don’t worry the sector has nearly the same amount of stupid people within their ranks as any other profession or trade 😅 Some fantastic some crazies

Sean, stress causes inflammation which will be the cause of your heart problem, and even if there is another cause the inflammation will exacerbate the condition. You cannot have this surgeon operate on you as you will further stress yourself knowing he is carrying out the operation. You need a surgeon you can trust so you can reduce your stress level.

Surgeons are quite often not 'Doctors' as such, just the person who performs the operation. As such many surgeons are referred to as 'Mr' (or 'Mrs') rather than 'Dr".

I am not a Jew or Muslim and have enormous sympathy for the plight of these people but there is no way I would want a zealot operating on me and I do not feel he belongs in our medical profession! Much much later when they are university trained, it became a title of respect and prestige. Today you simply cannot be a surgeon without first having completed a medical degree and then years of advanced and supervised training in order to qualify as a surgeon.

So true.... book smart, but not of good judgement or character. My former girlfriend was in med-school and then working as resident in the area hospitals. I got to meet and know a fair number of her classmates and eventually fellow Residents. They were no smarter, caring, or otherwise any better when it comes to ethics, morals, empathy, and personal character than any other group of individuals. A number of them truly hated working with patients and were in the profession for money and prestige, while others were not fit to work on my dog and I would do anything possible to keep a friend or family member from being treated by them. Some were great and made great doctors, while other were petty and vindictive. One turned out to be a thief and would steal money and valuables from the intern's bunk room while their fellow doctors slept. Always try to get referrals from other doctors and nurses to see they would choose to be treated by..

Sean, I understand that you have the right to request a different surgeon for whatever reason, just as a health professional has the right to decline to care for you. Simply notify the hospital beforehand and say why. However I don't believe that this should be the end of the matter given the eloquent comments below from @delinquentinparadise. In your case the surgeon has shown his colours before beginning to cut and you have been pre-warned. Another patient with a surname like say Mier or Steinman may not be so lucky.

Just heard you say you do not want to ruin his life, it is him who is ruining his life not your. Even if you talk to him you cannot trust him & for heart surgery you need to trust your surgeon.

Sean, I think you did the right thing calling him out directly the way you did. You should not have to be stressed anymore than having the stress of going through surgery. Unfortunately narcissistic, psychopathic traits are increasing due to social media’s algorithms not challenging or reinforcing polarising beliefs ( not always ‘good’ or ‘moral’ if there is such a thing)That’s why not many can argue nor listen and tolerate different points of view, nor can they affront you in person when you seek an honest answer?! So ring him up again and say we need to have an honest conversation, but cover your arse…perhaps your heart as well?! Eloquence, Calmness, Preparedness and Honesty will see you through this tyrannical person.

You may have to make a complaint to have a conversation, the red tapes of privacy, protections and other gov dictates have created an online system of yes/no/next page thats not very people friendly.

Wow! Sean, regardless of how this situation proceeds with complaints etc, you may find the higher echelons will have this surgeon removed from all parts of your medical care and procedures until it gets sorted out. I do struggle to believe a surgeon would go on FB with such a nasty rant, though, and I am questioning if his FB account has been hacked.

You absolutely had to talk about this because it's insurance that he takes proper care of you. In my experience the medical community clumps together and supports each other in situations like this and many patients are left uncared for.

I think you'll find that this guy won't be able to hide for long. Eventually his actions will self destroy....... you're likely to be transferred to another surgeon.....this won't go away..

Freedom of speech allows Sean and his good doctor having different opinions. Nothing to do with their chosen work.
