Also Dallas didn't let Klinger go to FA cuz of any worries about his physical condition or play, he was just too expensive. His play was regressing, but not by a huge margin and it was during a very Klinger-style unfriendly Bones term. It wasn't until he went to the Ducks that he became bad, and he didn't break until he went to Toronto.

@@Zharghar08 Bad defensively and hard to watch without frustration a lot of times. Klinger and his agent turned down 8 years, at roughly 7 million a year, with the Stars. Then fired his agent and took a year with the Ducks after no one wanted to give him a longterm/expensive contract. Good riddance.

  • @Zharghar08

That was my point...Stars were willing to keep him because they valued his strengths that much over his weaknesses still, but he/his agent got greedy. It wasn't till the next season in Anaheim where his play regressed to a point where it was surprising that anyone wanted to take a flyer on him. Toronto gambled and were rewarded with his body breaking. Classic Leafs.
