Haiden is what the sport needs. It’s crazy we are looking at how he carries himself and acting like he’s super brash…but why are we so quick to forget RC and Bubba doing tricks in final laps when they were winning races. Let him show his emotion.

I thought the kid handle himself well that day. I was watching that day and my buddy said it best, "I would of been fined by NBC Sports for all the profanity I spit on national tv, I would have taken out a few windows in the RV, dented the side of the RV with a full Monster Energy Can and more than likely would have needed medical attention for my knuckles. So, in retrospect, Haiden did alright!

Great video dude! A 17 year old who was winning and suddenly his bike blew up and cost him the championship, if he didn't throw his helmet on the grown and toss his bike down, everybody would wonder what's wrong with him. It was just a reaction to serious consequences of a 17 year old! I thought that it was a totally acceptable reaction. Now if he did that at 30 years old, there is definitely a problem.

Who thinks most ANY Rap Star should be idolized? Who thinks 99% of Social Media Influencers, Stars etc should be Idolized...Now I'm no Deegan Fan, But, this kid, so far is Clean, Focused and Participating/Competing in a Sport that requires the utmost in Health, Mental Acuity, Skill, Dedication. Why should kids NOT look up to him. He may not be perfect, but He is one hell of an example what kids should at least strive to be...

Bravo on you Johnny and Jase, Parents who judge the quality of a video or Podcast by the profanity used, are willing to deprive the younger ones the other 95%, which is the lesson contained within it. Think about this: If the kid, say he’s 10, spent the day a the local MX track just observing human interaction how much positive interaction by the adults would he/she see vs. a day spent at school where everybody around is the same age, and the only adults around use the threat of sanction to force them to comply with beliefs, values and behaviors that are not necessarily their own. And oh by the way, your use of off color words is for emphasis, in school, they’ll hear to same and more, but probably as descriptive in the form of an insult. The Role Model analogy was superb, well explained and right on the money. Well done…

Great , great conversation. Haiden Deegan is first and foremost a professional athlete. He works for a giant corporate entity and has ONE job...win. He's not there to instruct your 10 year old on the correct behavior when his bike blows up . If you are a parent and you're looking for 238 to be your kid's role model then I think you might want to reassess. In my mind, if you yourself are not your kids role model, then you may have a problem. Thanks for the great content as usual, J.

Amen!! I feel he did nothing wrong at his age. But I look at it like this. I was a crew chief for a young man in quarter midgets. He is making a big name for himself. At each race we as a team would pray. People notice it and they noticed us have success. At first kids around that where by us asked if they could join in on the prayer. I said of course. As time went on more and more joined both parents and kids. Always part of my prayer was we will honor the Lord win lose our draw. When I first started I told our driver to always race clean and keep calm!! At least tell you get into the trailer. Then if you must have your spat. Here is what I was teaching him. Stay calm under pressure!!! Things are going to happen on the track !! But you need to keep calm, cool and collected!! I also would tell him to stay that way and drive clean because one never really knows who is here that is someone in Nascar, no matter what level. Or may know someone in Nascar. But if you pass cleanly not bump and run like most and are able to keep your cool. If someone at sometime might be here from or know someone from Nascar and see's how you drive and are and there might be a driver with a little more skill set at the time. But that driver is a bump and run and a hot head like a spoiled little brat. That might be all it would take for your name to be mentioned and you looked at. I'm not saying to not have the same anger and feelings whatever they are about no winning or what happen. I'm say be in control and have a stronger mindset and mental mind. Go off like I said in the trailer if you need to but not in the open. But I prefer you can stay in control and honor thr Lord as we always pray. Well one day he lost by a inch. Wouldn't shake any of the drivers hands after the race and the through his helmet at the trailer from about 30 feet from it. It didn't hit the trailer but it did bounce off the asphalt a lot and make it all up. I asked him to pick up his helmet and bring it in he didn't want to by the look he gave me. I said you love Jesus, he said yes. I said are you honoring him right now he said no. Gave me a hug and then got his helmet. I said I blame myself more then you if we don't win. After the races when we go eat. Who doesn't eat out of all of us if we don't win. He said you. I said that's right because I has heartburn and acid reflex because of how upset I am. But no one knows that tell now and that's you. We have a beautiful bond. To God be the glory. FYI I'm a fan of Dabgerboy!!

I understand your point. Idolatry in the biblical sense though, is the turning away from God and worshiping a God before Him (“There shall be no God before me.”). I think if you changed “Idolize” to “aspire to be”, it would be more inline with their meaning. The Deegans, are a Christian family with strong beliefs. Brian became Born Again after a near-fatal injury during his FMX days. Haiden has thanked God for protecting him more than once in post race interviews. I’d like to hear your thoughts…

Hopper was the biggest Deegan trash talker before he started showing his true potential on the track. He was always trash talking and saying it was all hype so I don’t give 2cents for what he puts out his mouth about anything. For him to sit there and say it was childish of him to throw. His helmet is ridiculous. I have seen 40 year old men do the same thing when they lose it’s called having heart and being upset. Hopper, if I was deegan and you came up, asking for an autograph I would spit on a piece of paper for you. That’s about it.

Parents should take notes on how to raise their kids. Of course, Brian wanted Haiden to ride, but he never once pushed him to race. And to this day, he's never hard on Haiden. He is very realistic to him, he let's him learn on his own, and you see how Haiden is to a level you simply can not teach. He's fearless on a bike. He isn't afraid to ride "OVER" the edge, which can be costly at times but it's amazing to see. It's like watching James Stewart coming up. His speed was unreal, but with his speed came alot of crazy crashes.. just hope Haiden can be consistent. And if he can, he will be untouchable.

Be jealous. “It’s the rider not the money” -me lol we’ve had broke kids become the best riders and also fail, same with rich kids many of them fail and we don’t know of them, only few of the rich kids who have the work ethic and skill make it. Axel Hodges gets a lot of crap but he deserves it very much!

KNOW WHAT IT IS BEFORE you literally redefine the definition to fit your own wants role model /ˈrōl ˌmäd(ə)l/ noun a person looked to by others as AN EXAMPLE TO BE IMITATED. that's in regards to you and you're cussing. when kids look up to you they want to be like you they don't want to not be like you. as far as the deagon situation goes perhaps he could have focused on all the things that have gone good in his life and that would have been an incredible role model for what to do when things are the shittiest in life. BE GRATEFUL. not saying I could do this but I do think that that is the best response in shity situations. to find things to be grateful for

That role model shit is for an adult with experience and wisdom. What kind of role model was that lad at 16-17? Most of us werent. Regarding the kicking the bike or whatever. Me personally i dont mind it. Shows me how invested he is. Tom brady was the same way. And the dude was a winner and a role model! Too each their own. Not everybody needs to act like a robot. Not to mention hes a deegan. His old man was a fireball in his youth! Haiden is doing just fine.

Brian Deegan had the forethought to have a camera shoved in his kids faces almost from birth (an exaggeration) in order too build their individual brands. He seems a little lost on how to guide 'Huck' right now in the midst of Hailie and Haiden's early careers. However I am certain he will come up with something that the kid loves and will promote the hell out of Huck doing it. I have a strong feeling that there will be another successful Deegan to promote with his own brand and his own passion. Cheers to the Deegans and their successes. May Hailie find her speed and may Haiden live up to all expectations! Peace

Jase you’re clueless about standards. Moral and social standards aren’t based on the lowest standard like many of today’s youth emulating gang and prison garb and references, they’re based on seeking to be one that we want our kids to emulate. Self control includes controlling what words come out of your mouth. If you can’t control what comes out of your mouth it’s understood that you lack self-control.

For the longest time - everybody has talked about the good ol days! Gnarly Dudes would bang bars and send it. They would say what they want on the podium. Haiden comes along and fills that void. Now the same “super nanny” questions Deegans character. It’s absolutely hypocritical and absurd the very same podcasters and media wonder if this is justified. That’s one reason I’ll stand with Deegan. The other reason is … THIS IS MOTOCROSS BABY! We don’t have those conflicts of interest and political correctness like other sports - THANK GOD , and thank you Haiden

Yes but they didn't work at the level it takes to be in Haiden's position. They worked at learning lines for a movie or play. Haiden has worked at improving his physical condition, his mental condition along with the desire to win every race. When the future for them crashed, the movie stars fell apart and couldn't handle it. Haiden has worked hard enough for this with no guarantees of being a moto champion. If his future crashes, he will find a way to be successful in something else. That's the way he was taught.
