Should Britain Pay for Its Slavery-Related Past? | Good Morning Britain
Ойын-сауық
Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley says Caribbean countries affected by crimes of native genocide and African enslavement are calling for more than an apology from some European states and commercial enterprises for their role in the Atlantic slave trade and the practice of chattel slavery. She said there was a need for “a written and clear apology to say, 'we were wrong, we will not do it again', and more importantly, we must pay recompense for what was done. That is the first step of walking the walk.”

Why not earn a living and not expect constant handouts?

Agreed. These folks are talking about handouts where the world we see today is a reflection of “stolen hands” and benefits from it.
Kate , stop interrupting guests. Let them answer
1) It was a moral wrong, it was not a criminal wrong in its day. 2) Would you make African pay for the enslavement in the first instance. 3) Is a child responsible for his forebears perceived crime? 4) How much overseas aid have Caribbean countries been given by the Uk since independants?? Questions that were never tabled
Uk should pay for its role in Cruelty

Caribbeans language was changed to English. Where are my ancestors,? Which country in Africa? . What about my culture, and traditions? Everything has been changed.. Then racism was left behind

Did england not enslaved Afrikans for centuries? Did england upon ending the enslavement of Afrikans, not pay repararions to the enslavers for loss of their property (enslaved Afrikans/their labor), and not to the enslaved Afrikans who had done All the work that enriched said enslavers? England i.e., the british empire is to blame and should be held accountable to the fullest degree for that horrific inhumane barbaric period in its history!! And, yes they most certainlu should pay, heavily, reparations, including money to the descendants of said enslaved Afrikans, including compound interest!!!

The British were the perpetrators. Today's RF are living off the spoils gained from actions of Brits soldiers in the past
