I used to smoke solids/resin years ago recreationally, you couldn't get green back then. After working in factories on sewing machines and other heavy manual jobs, my hands, knees and back are shafted and the govt expects me to work till I'm 70 the whispers say, they've got no fkg chance, anyway, I now smoke green at night for the pain I'm in daily, it relaxes me, calms my mind in the madness that is todays world and helps me sleep. I smoke it in my own house and nowhere else. I don't hurt anyone, cause any trouble and I'm not violent or drunk. I can still fully function in my job, I can still drive my car daily, I couldn't care less if it's legal or not, I use it instead of pumping myself full of pharmacutical drugs, who in this day and age would trust pharma now, I never have trusted pharma and I'm unjabbed thankfully. No, I'll smoke my green and be happy. The woman saying smoking green leads to crime is talking utter shit, crime is commited for many reasons.

I am from the UK living in Australia for 28yrs. I was diagnosed with CRPS in 2010. In 2011 my husband found me dead in bed. I was in a comma and on life support also needing dialysis for nearly 3 weeks, due to the medication prescribed. Up until 4 years ago, I had to have a general anesthetic every 3mths for a full body wash and toe nails cut and finger nails cut. I was bed bound for 8yrs. Since 4yrs ago I trialled Medical Canabis, I inhale 2 different types of bud and consume Canabis oil. In 4yrs I've taken NO OPIOIDS, I can now shower because the water doesn't hurt me, my husband and I can now be intimate after 10yrs of sleeping with pillows between us... I would be dead now without Medical Canabis ❤

The same applies to cannabis, you can consume upto 100mg before any real effects come into play . I use it for chronic pain and adhd relief. I only replied to you as your comment was negative towards cannabis and positive towards Alcohol which is the top of the most dangerous drug list . You shouldn't be negative towards a plant that is medically beneficial that's already been demonised by lying big corps and pushing that Alcohol is better . That's just nonsense.

And I use a herb vapouriser, which has a fraction of the health risks, as opposed to combustion. Tobacco is simply just a dopamine rush with no benefits.

That decision is easily informed by examining the ramifications of doing this in other countries.

Yes 100% the amount of money they’d make off of taxing it alone would fund the NHS. Cannabis use is so widespread and more common than you’d imagine and virtually harmless in small doses. It has medicinal benefits which have been researched thoroughly! Majority of people would rather buy it from a dispensary too and could consume it in a safe and controlled atmosphere like in Amsterdam.

Thousands die every year from tobacco, alcohol, prescription drugs, even sugar. Not one person has ever died from cannabis overdose (You would have to smoke 1500lbs in 15 minutes) It's about profits, not safety.

That's an interesting point, as humans we've been genetically engineering our crops for thousands of years, a capability that has increased drastically in recent decades. It would be perfectly plausable to engineer strains to reduce the smell instead, even the stronger skunks.

If drinking Alcohol was invented today, it would be illegal. Every cocaine user has drank alcohol, so Alcohol must also be a gateway drug.

Shouldn't be fined at all! The hypocrisy behind one of the worlds biggest exporters of cannabis, telling their nationals its illegal. If its illegal for us it should be the same for them. DISGUSTING.

Anyone using the argument "what if someone turns up to work stoned" is beyond asinine, what if someone turns up to work drunk and causes an incident? Yet I hear no call for the criminalisation of alcohol.

Dalgety grows high Thc in the UK, it's run by Jackie Smith (ex labour home secretary) and the ex police chief constable of Staffordshire. This monopoly on growing cannabis for medical use in the UK is not on, aren't we supposed to be a free market economy? Where are the licenses for people who want to provide organic craft cannabis to those who want it?

Legalise drugs and Stop Benefits. We're now in a situation where drug taking is widespread and taxpayers are paying for people to sit around all day long smoking dope and doing nothing while claiming benefits. I live on a large council estate, so I know what happens. If we decriminalise cannabis, then we should should stop all benefits, except to those with genuine physical disabilities. Otherwise we will have more people stoned all day long and doing nothing. But if they had to work, then they would just use cannabis for recreation rather than all day long.

@ontheslide2339 nope. We've never been able to master that, and now coupled with a completely polarised society lacking accountability - it could be a recipe for disaster. "I've been irresponsible with it but it's someone else's fault for allowing me to do so"

A prison governor vs a neurologist who should we listen to? hmmmmm The issue with this country, is the older generation who were fed propaganda by the gov/media about cannabis, who say it's bad but have never actually used it or have any real education on it..

Homelessness is a gateway drug, not cannabis.

Scientifically our bodies are designed to use these compounds . It's health benefits are long proven . The vulnerable are using cocaine and fentanyl and alcohol which is legal and far more unhealthy than any of these . Don't legalise it and fuel the drug gangs and violence and destruction of the youth.

Everytime anyone buys illegal drugs like cannabis or cocaine etc they are giving money to scumbags like Thomas Cashman but they don’t think of that. There would still be drug gangs if they legalised cannabis so your point is they invalid anyway, just don’t buy illegal drugs simple that is the only way to stop it

Thailand legalised cannabis for a week. And quickly changed back to remake it illegal. The government hasnt yet said why ?

3:40 Vanessa Frake-Harris MBE is effectively arguing for regulation here. If we want to protect vulnerable people then surely the best way forward is proper labelling and quality control rather than leaving the production and distribution of cannabis to the black market.

The expert saying it’s a low risk of psychosis is 1 in 10000, that’s not a low risk if everyone was smoking it that would be at least an extra 6500 people for the NHS and mental health services to deal with! They can’t cope as it is. All the people I know who smoke it are complete mongs with no job and on sick with mental health but that seems to be acceptable now in the UK. Most of the school and mass shooters in USA regularly smoked cannabis, it is a dangerous drug and causes a lot of social problems no matter what these experts say.
