I hope Lyoto and his family get everything they wish for. Lyoto, his brother, and father all demonstrate discipline, focus, and most importantly RESPECT. This kind of lifelong determination deserves respect in return. Beautiful artistry.

so lyotos sensei did with his karate what bruce Lee did with his wing chun. after relocating and realizing the people were bigger, he had to adapt his style accordingly. neat.

I'm happy for Lyoto Machida I took shotokan karate before I was enjoying the art but I had no time to do karate so I went back to judo because I'm a black belt other than that I'm proud of Machida and with him being a karateca and MMA fighter.

Karate has all the same strikes as kick boxing and then some plus it also has throws, take downs and joint locks so no reason it can't work in competition if trained for it and also adding something for the ground like Jiu-jitsu, wrestling or Judo. I currently train in Karate and BJJ and have trained in Muay Thai, Tae Kwon do, boxing and Aikido in the past.

@@qasim1590 The boxers only punch so they are the best at it. Karate has punches but must also spread training time over many other techniques including kicks, take downs and join locks so they don't spend as much time training strikes.

There were many street fights that got complicated .....because my opponents were skillful......I had to empty my mind and just float.....like in a dream stage or a haze.......just float .....until ...... Bang! .... my opponent in down...then I wake up. No one taught me this..... not my brother.... not my Karate teacher.... not my boxing instructor.... not my wrestling coach... it just happened
