Congrats brother on getting the season off to a good start! Crazy about that shell! We are still looking for our first chance to get in the woods this season. Hopefully we can get out there tomorrow morning.

Ive got that same 870 express and that melted shell is insane. Way to remain calm and get a follow up shot. What a memory and story to tell! Congrats on a nice bird

Yes it was. I couldn't believe he came back to the decoy spread. Especially after all that blowing and smacking i was doing on that gun to put the fire out. lol . not counting rechambering shells to make sure it would load before pulling the trigger.

Awesome hunt man!!! That shell incident could have ended much worse, glad you didn’t get hurt. I’ve had 16 gauge shells that barely had enough power to push the shot out the barrel but never seen one do that! I got me a nice longbeard yesterday in Tennessee! Oh and that footage was 🔥!

Thank you brother. I'm Not sure what caused it exactly but I know that when the firing pin struck the primer that allowed the gun to be in position to be ejected and rechambered . Now the chamber coming back and half the load going out the barrel and the other half going out the side might be from being loaded to hot. I have sent Winchester a email to see what they have to say but hopefully I will release a video on it after hearing back from them

Yes it was. The shells was Winchester XR 3 1/2 #4 shot. Crazy thing was not only did the gun fire it , It also blew the chamber back and of course wedged it open. My gun is a Remington 870 Turkey mag express. When the gun went off I noticed there was a hesitation almost like a older muzzle loader. You can actually hear it in the video. I don't believe there was a lot of pellet's came out of the barrel. Some of them come out the side through the exsposed chamber. I burned my fingers on the hot plastic trying to put it out and dislodge the melted shell so I could get a second shot off.
