The rest of this episode (Dignity, Season 20, Ep. 5) is really something else. Connie, the pro-choice champion, becomes emotionally torn after hearing a woman's story about carrying a terminal pregnancy to term vs getting an abortion, and then decides to hand the defense a key piece of evidence about the abortion doctor killing a baby born after a botched abortion, which infuriates Cutter, who's pro life but wants to win the case. In the end, the jury finds the shooter guilty, despite the argument that he was killing the doctor to prevent him from killing again.

Years ago I was correctional deputy and about 30 minutes before my shift ended, the state park rangers brought in a guy who had the worst sunburn on the front half of his body I’d ever seen. He had bandages everywhere and looked like a pack of dogs got him after he fell down a flight of stairs. This poor guy had been at one of the local state parks with a swimming hole, got blacked out drunk, and fell asleep face up with no sunscreen on. Two rangers (one was K9) approached the man to make sure he was ok. It took them a couple of minutes to wake him, so they had called for EMS because they thought he might need to be sent to the hospital. While the rangers were asking the people around if anyone knew him, the guy suddenly jumped up swinging and accidentally made contact with one of the rangers arm. He then proceeded to take off running towards the fence line by the road. The rangers gave chase warning him to stop or they would release the dog. Dude made it to the fence, but then he turned around to face the rangers. They kept telling him to get down on the ground. He refused, so they pepper sprayed him. This caused him to scream (sunburn + pepper spray = ☠️) and he tried to climb the chain link fence. He was then hit with a taser and fell about 3 feet to the grass dislodging one of the taser probes. Since he was no longer getting zapped, he tried running away, which is when the dog was released. By the time the guy was treated at the hospital and with the amount of saline they dumped into his body to rehydrate him, he was .08 on our breathalyzer test. Dude was extremely apologetic and in obvious pain, which he wouldn’t get any kind of pain medication for while in custody. The two rangers ended up calling their Sgt and put in on speakerphone so our nurse could talk with him and the rangers at the same time. After hearing everything the guy had gone through, the Sgt told the rangers to drop all the charges. Had they really wanted to, he could have been charged with drunk in public, felony assault on LE, and fleeing/resisting LE. I found out the next day that the ranges took him to his pharmacy to get the antibiotics and pain meds the ER doctor prescribed him, and then drove him home. The dude ended up back with us a few times for drunk in public, but he was always super chill while he sobered up. When he sobered up, he would tell anyone who’d listen to not run from the cops and then show everyone his scars on his arms and legs from the K9. He had some gnarly scars too.

I think this baby probably had EB. Epidermolysis bullosa. The skin is so fragile that the slightest touch does cause tearing and other damage. EDS (I would know I have KEDS) can/does cause fragile skin but most types aren’t as extreme as the description in the video. Dermatosparaxis type as the name suggests affects the skin and often has the most fragile skin, but not all the time.

Yea I have vEDS and my skin is pretty fragile, I'll even tear my skin open if I stretch something too quickly, but nowhere near the level of EB. I could understand a parent making the painful decision of aborting a fetus diagnosed with EB but EDS? that's not agonizing pain, that's not living in a constant state of the worst phase of burn recovery, that's not having to wear a compression suit over special bandaging. EDS is just, like. look at this cool thing I can do with my hand. haha my feet are backwards. owie I sneezed and bruised something. my blood hurts. listen to this new sound my elbow makes after I broke it lol. It's not like EDS patients are at constant risk of infection because they literally don't have skin. They're both collagen disorders, but EB and EDS don't present similarly at all

This reminds me of a episode of L&O, during the Ben Stone 'Era', where a woman, against her defensive counsels' advice, took the witness stand, and admitted that she sent another woman to bomb an abortion clinic, dying in the process ... ... naturally that woman whom plotted the whole thing, trotted out the usual stuff that especially Evangelical Baptists like to say about abortion, especially as it ought to be a crime 'killing a unborn child' ... Ben Stone let her rant on ... ... then dropped the hammer on her: the woman she sent to bomb the clinic was pregnant herself ... I'll never forget the utter horror on her face ... Sadly, the actor whom played him had been struggling with alcoholism, and, when not recast, went into a downward spiral. A great pity, because as a ADA, he was just incredible, the public prosecutors' version of a Perry Mason ... especially with _that_ case of child abuse, which needed a disclaimer at the end due to the similar case, in which a young girl was beaten to death ... my God, that was hard hitting ...

@@Josh-fj9hi At 28 weeks it is viable. But even at that point the proper term is 'foetus.' To use terms that clearly delineate different stages, is the opposite of blurring the lines. You should not accuse others of the sin you commit. In other words, you're projecting.

To be honest, most people understand what a sonogram is; but say intravaginal ultrasound, and you'll lose people ... There's many examples of L&O: SVU, where there take a case involving something people have some kind of cultural understanding of, but then, dumb it down so low, it causes scathing criticism, because of lack of research by asking those that know ...
