I miss my snakes Cherokee and Millicent. Cherokee died because she got dehydrated. Millicent died because she wouldn't eat. Both snakes weren't a year old yet. I got Millicent after Cherokee died.

A lot of the comments are like "hey bro props for inventing a new way of feeding snakes" but most the reptile community agrees its most ethical to feed frozen/thawed rodents!

I don't know if you (People that say this is cruelty) ever studied biology, BUT ANIMALS EAT OTHER ANIMALS IN NATURE, THIS IS A NATURAL PROCESS CALLED FOOD CHAIN, what did you want? That the snake ate grass? Anyway, cute snek, I don't know if it's legal in my country, but I would love to have one

Nature does not give a shit. It kills it eats its normal but its a force of chance. Not a force of morality good or evil. Not appealing to a gruesome natural process and finding a artificial alternative will not nessecarily have any harmful effects as it depends on the role and the importance of the process within the natural world. This is often not recognized and in place of it is a pseudo scientific idea that this has to happen or a spiritual spin in the form of the idea that because its natural it is good and morally justified. I dont know if the rodents is alive but in the natural world it often is. Yet this snake does not need its prey to be alive or suffering for it to be consumed. A cat often plays with its prey to exhaust it causing the prey alot of anguish but it has no negative effects on the predatory instincts of a cat or the natural world around if given a alternative food source. Science does not equal the emotional need to have people accept a harsh reality it simply equals a realistic and factual reality.

Just in case some of you were wondering, the reason he was eating so slow was because his food was so big, causing him to have to dislocate his jaw/lengthen it

Snakes make great pets tbh. Look into captive bred garter snakes. Most of them prefer fish to rodents. You just toss a few fish into their water bowl and watch them get all excited and chase them down. You have to be careful about what kind of fish you feed them, because of potential parasites, but otherwise they are super easy to care for. They are also relatively curious and active snakes, which makes them more fun to watch in their enclosure than most snakes are.

Some smaller snakes like garter snakes eat bugs/worms/snails etc. They make great pets for those who can't handle seeing mice being eaten. ALWAYS do your research though

i recommend not watching them while they eat, because it stresses them out. Also dont hold your snake if it just ate, you can hold your snake two days after she/he eats becuase if you do hold the snake the snake is most likely to regurgitate

Well actually its OK, but if they don't eat their food when you're around, then step back. And give it space until it gets comfortable with its new home. And yes, don't hold the snake (depending on it's age) within at least one day of being fed

It really depends on the individual and if it's in a new environment etc. Obviously, if your snake isn't eating you want to keep the stress level down near/after eating. But like I said it depends on the individual.

if you pick up your snake right after they ate you could stress them out and it could cause your snake to throw up it’s food so I suggest you wait at least 4 days to handle them again at least with feeding them mice and rats

I don’t know if I should feel bad for the mouse or be charmed by coconut’s adorable num nums

I’m recommend buying food from an actually reptile store, one where the people is passionate about the reptiles because then they care for the rats better so it’s good quality for the snakes. I stopped buying from petco/petsmart for my snakes and reptiles because they come from nasty areas where the animals are sick with diseas, sometimes the store will even freeze the mice that have died from bad husbandry then set it up to sell as snake food. The mice were always deformed, missing limbs, I couldn’t tell where the limbs, and head was.. plus it was more expensive for literally bad quality, only if you can ofc buying from reptile stores is BETTER.
