You want shorter throw on your breville, all you need is a slightly thicker group seal. Go 0.5mm thicker and it’ll shorten portafilter travel

I tried a short shifter on my MX5 NA and found it was way to stiff and pretty much difficult to engage the first gear. I replaced the original shifter and asked myself how come I had such stupid idea as the original setup is just perfect. Think twice before changing as from my experience it's a bad idea and waste of money.
Great video! Is the Cobalt noisy? I have read reports there is a lot more cabin noise with it compared to OEM

Way noisier planning to go back to OEM because the vibration and noise has driven me crazy

Nice video. But how did this perform long term ? I've heard some of these short shifters can destroy the synchro because they're just too quick.

Very much possible! Itried a short shifter on my MX5 NA and after 5 minutes driving their was a weird smell from the gearbox. I stopped immediately and replaced that shit by the original shifter and no more problem. Hopefully I didn't damage anything seriously as I stopped very quickly

This is 6 speed. I believe “Colored In Light” did a video on his channel on a short throw 5-speed. He can correct me if I’m wrong!

If you don't remove the hand brake boot, removing that center piece, is a royal PITA. Ask me how I know.
