hey there Brent - great vids. I recently moved to Crystal Beach and slowly (VERY SLOWLY) trying to learn the terrain. Rod/Reel question. Do I really need to spend 200$ for a rod/reel set up? If I buy a 50$ combo set up - am I really hurting myself? Assuming correct line and bait/lure usage? I'm a cheap a** which I why I inqure

You definitely don't need an expensive combo to go out and start catching fish right away. But, if you are planning on fishing often or want your gear to last a good amount of time then I recommend investing in higher quality gear

Can you use freshwater rods for saltwater? Will they be ok as long as you wash theM down at the end of day

I wouldn't recommend freshwater gear if you plan on using it quite a bit in saltwater, but you can use it occasionally if you make sure to rinse them off well afterwards
