    I do wonder if coaching standard swings is the best option for players. Some of the greats are very unorthodox. Then I guess how would the alternative work.

    You can see him concentrating on his forehand to keep the same preparation for the drive, crosscourt or drop. It must be really hard to pick his stroke from the T position because his backswing is so unorthodoxly compact. It's also obvious how he wins so often when he plays that 'scoop' drop shot! You can't see it played!

    The white Pro ball has one dot for historical reasons but it's equivalent in pace and bounce to a two dot Pro black ball, not a one dot competition ball.

    the top guys may have adapted a more subtle swing, to help with disguise. They live on the courts like 4hrs a day since juniors, so get very creative.

    @@grahamhiggins1816 With all due respect, I doubt the unorthodox habits some players pick up is intentional. I think it's more a matter of settling into a form which allows them to obtain the best accuracy for their style.
