I feel blessed to have grown up in the 70’s. Farrah Fawcett’s hairstyle is still my favorite today. Life was much slower, and so simple. We could indeed, stop to smell the roses. I wouldn’t trade that decade of my youth for any other.

"That's my scent. You take the Charlie" ❤ My mom was a cosmetics girlie in a department store behind the Estee Lauder counter back in the mid 70s. I love the pics I have of her from the 70s and early 80s because she was even more glam than she was later in life. She remained a seriously gorgeous fashionista until her dying day, God rest her soul. Sky high heels, primo purses, beautiful dresses and skirts... so incredibly feminine. She passed at 56 from cancer. She was amazing ❤

Charlie was the first gift I received from my beloved! I still like the scent to this day! The hair products were much better in the 70s. They didn't have too many ingredients. As a result, your hair wasn't weighted down with all of the oils. Exercise and quality food gave us a healthy body and natural glow. Women didn't go under the knife like today. If they did, they were usually older, middle to upper-class women with money. People were a lot happier and well-adjusted back then. They weren't so mentally distraught and insecure.

I loved the musk perfume and Faberge shampoo and conditioner. Herbal essence was a big deal along with Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific. Oh yes and the VO 5 hot oil treatment! That I wish I had now. Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific smelled good, so did the original Herbal Essence. I wish they would bring back the original Herbal Essence. I remember having Love’s Baby Soft perfume. My mother couldn’t stand the musky or strong perfumes but I recall her having at least one bottle of Charlie. All the woman in my family for generations were into makeup and hairstyles, not the natural look. She really rocked her light blue eye shadow and it looked so good on her dark olive skin. I remember a shampoo called Earth Born that came out in 1975 that I really loved. We seemed to break up about once a week and one time, heartbroken, freshly broken-up, I returned some of his gifts. I put them on the top shelf in his locker. When he opened it the perfume fell out and smashed. The next day the halls of the school reeked with Tabu. We made up by the end of the week. This video was so much fun to watch. I was born in 1970, and have some great memories from my early childhood. When I think of the 70s I think of Wonder Wonder, and Charlie's Angels. Many other things, too, like the Bicentennial, Saturday morning cartoons, lip gloss and blue eyeshadow. It was a fun time to be a little girl.

I also to have a bottle of VO5 shampoo that I found at my local drugstore. I remember a lot of the things. I always tell someone if we could go back in time. I would want to be dropped off and left in the 70s. It was a great time to be a kid. Great video!!!

I remember Frost and Tip, Creme Rinse-- and I used Herbal Essence, Prell, Gee Your Hair.. we had at least one bottle of Farrah's brew-- and of course, Body on Tap, the shampoo and conditioner with real beer! It smelled so good. Grown up women in my area (Buffalo, NY) wore more natural nail shades and lip shades, and brown & shimmery eyeshadow looks were huge. The thing then was to match your lip & nails, and keep your blush in the same color family.

I was born in 1957, and so the seventies were my era. The early seventies were a continuation and extension of the sixties with a focus on the natural. You cannot talk about fragrance in the seventies without putting the Coty solid fragrance compacts front and center. These were soliflore fragrances and each compact had a theme, such as floral, Woods, grasses, etc. We all had these. Other popular fragrances were Love Fresh Lemon, Eau de Love, Cachet, Jontue, Ambush, Oscar de la Renta, Tigress, Ciara, Private Collection, Tatiana, and Navy. The most memorable makeup brands were Yardley (Pot O Gloss was the lipgloss that took over the world), Love which was the original brand that brought out a collection of neutrals, with names like Raccoon, Lioness, and Stormy Grey, and Bonne Bell who had bronzing gel and blushing gel. Of course Lipsmackers were part of the trend and we collected all the flavors. They led the way. Everyone wanted Love and Yardley. They had the most innovative stuff. The shampoos that took the world by storm were Protein 21, Clairol Herbal Essence, Brightside, Farberge Organics, Revlon Flex, Vidal Sassoon in the brown bottles, and the original Pantene line. Everyone wore Cutex nail polish. This was also the time when Irish Spring soap came to be, and we all had tubes of apricot kernel facial scrubs. This was also the time when Elizabeth Arden came out with her multi use pencils. There were colors for lips, cheeks, eyes, and highlighter. They were regular wooden pencils you had to sharpen. Gels came into great favor. Love, Bonne Bell, Revlon and others had bronzing and blush gels. They packed a wallop of pigment.

You did a great job covering the era when I was a teenager! I’m 65, and I would add “Love’s Baby Soft” fragrance, “Lemon Up” shampoo, and “elephant” bell bottom jeans. I don’t remember subtle makeup in the seventies at all. I wore Yardley pot o’ gloss in bright blue, plucked my eyebrows to a thin line, and used lots of blush and big eyelashes. We wore enormous platform shoes - it’s a wonder I didn’t break my ankle back then.

I'm in my 60's now and the Johnson's Baby Shampoo keeps my long hair silky and shiny. Revlon made the best Super Lustrous Super Frost lipsticks. Silverpearl pink and Copper Frost were favorites. They lasted, were creamy and shimmery shiny. Your video was fun. It was nice to remember many products that I used and still use. Pond's Cold Cream is another one I still use today.

Yardley of London was big in the 60s and 70s, fun lipsticks that you could wear around your neck and some of them actually would have a whistle on them but really mod colors blue eyeshadows, green eyeshadows, frosty pink lipstick they were probably my favorite and then you also had Revlon natural wonder, Estée Lauder, I remember Clinique coming out and it had kind of a laboratory aesthetic, three step skin care, which has obviously been expanded nowadays minimal make up in the beginning for Clinique. As a make up artist, it’s been great fun to see all the changes that have happened in the last 50 plus years.❤ oh and don’t forget Twiggy (60s and 70s)

Laura, I graduated from high school in 1975. I started wearing the fragrance Charlie in my sophomore year and it became my signature fragrance. I just purchased a bottle online recently thinking I might wear this familiar scent again! I got the Farrah Fawcett cut (which didn’t work too well with my fine, straight hair!), washed my hair with Herbal Essences shampoo and used Yardley beauty products. With the 1920s’ influence of movies like The Great Gatsby (as you mentioned) and Twiggy’s The Boy Friend (1971), I plucked my eyebrows into that thin line that was popular, and they’ve never quite grown back! I loved more colorful eye makeup, as the natural look has never looked good on me. Thank you for this wonderful trip down memory lane! Oh, and I loved Cher for her style in the 1970s with Liza as a close second.

My Mom was a cosmetologist and beauty salon owner so we used a lot if shampoo and conditioner from the beauty supply store. When my Mom and Dad went out on the town my Mom would wet her eye brush and use a frosted shadow, with a thicker eyeliner. The eyeliner was a dry cake and you also had to wet your brush to pick up product. She used lighter frosted shades of lipstick. She always looked beautiful. Loved Charles Angels and Farah was my fav. Had her poster hanging on my closet door, which my Dad loved, but didnt know that till i was much older.😊 I wore Charlie and loved it.
