Really excellent idea for recycling old planer blades. Now you have something very useful and, an heirloom to hand down.

For sure!
Turned out great and that blade looks crazy thin! It always feels good to finally use those random bits you've kept around the shop forever too.

It does, the blades have been sitting in the shop for over a year...
What a sharp looking project !! I have a set of old planer blades collecting dust. Now, I have a use for them. I will probably have to make a few marking knives. I will more than likely lose some and the others I will give away as a gifts. Thanks for the inspiration and for posting the build. Keep up the good work. Nice music selection too. Take Care.
That things awesome and it looks vicious! Love the look of the brass pegs too. Great job, Ryan!
Wow that's a nice little knife! You just reminded me I have an extra hand plane blade lying around that could possibly be repurposed. Thanks!
This looks really nice, and is a great way to make use of those old blades. Excellent video!
I'm not usually into 'knife' videos, but you made a beautiful little tool there. Look forward to seeing it used in upcoming videos.
I always look forward to you videos. Cheers

Nice use of old planer blades!
Incredible work brother!! Yours totally blows my upload from last week outta the water! 😂😊👊👊🍀💚
Cool. I like the curve in it. It is interesting that you made it so small. Most of the time, I see them with much more length.

Yeah, I just liked the idea of a small handle (pocket knife size) for the look, not sure how practical it is but seems to work fine.
Very nice! I should make some too when I find time.
I've saved an old set of jointer knives for this exact reason... maybe some day I'll get around to it. :-)
Awesome work!
Very Nice build, well done. Barry (ENG)
very nice piece!
Beauty. I always liked the feel of buffed paste wax over whatever oil on hand tools. Nice work, great channel
Great idea. Since you have so much spare material in the old planer blades, I wonder if you could make one where the blades would be replaceable? Just a thought.
Hey, very nice! it looks so good!

Joe basementwoodworking It either makes chips, or collects dust ... Or shatters to pieces when it hits a nail!
Great idea for planer blades, I also have a old pair just just sitting around collecting dust. What was the angle of the blade.
Really nice Ryan!

cool ...very nice 👍
what is the angle your cdut for your jig to put the bevel on your blade?
Beautiful! I'm just not sure why you used end grain. I don't know how long that will last. I'd think that after you drop it a few times, chunks will snap off.
nice job ryan as always :) i'm also curious about how the sandpaper sharpening system is holding up - good, bad, okay?

+JMakes okay, it works well but the downfall is removing the used sandpaper from the glass.
Nice job I really like how you use the music to your video

I saw the end of the blade turning blue when you were using the grinder and belt sander. I think it will not stay sharp for a long time ...

Yeah its hard to keep the very tip cool enough but i'm not to concerned as its not like it gets a lot of use and it sharpens super easy.
very Nice
You should get a guard on that mini grinder, one of my bonehead friends cut his thumb wide open this one time. Cool knife by the way

Hey bud - it's been a while. Hope all is okay over there - we miss your vids!
will you make a scratch awl
end grain for a handle or anything for that matter . I criinged when you hammered the pins in
i only clicked on this bc its looked like a kunai
I thought for a moment this wouldn't be another obnoxious-music, sped-up video, but I was wrong. Made to 50 sec.

I love the design, nice upcycle with the planer blades, I'm not the safety police, but i cringed a little watching the blade being worked uncovered, if your're making something like this cover the pokey slicey parts with masking tape, so it dosent cut you if the sander, or grinder grabs and snatches it out of your hands.

Yeah your probably right, I poked myself a few times...
More than one way to skin a cat -- or make a marking knife. Come to think of it, you could skin a cat with that if you needed to do so, for some reason... lol Nice marking knife!

Every time I try to skin my cat, he licks the vinyl right off. He just doesn't want to be customized.
I could use such a one. Very nice and great video!👍👍👍 Greetings from my channel😄
