Hi All, I actually played this game as blue (Shooter McGavin). Despite my low Elo score and how much I suck at the game, I actually do watch this channel haha. It’s funny watching yourself on playback to realise how many things I missed during the game. Watching the commentary on this gave me a good laugh. Really enjoyed it!!

This is where DE and steam need to improve. Being able to add friends from the lobby, and automatically returning to the lobby like it used to be on voobly. Then you can have rematches, and find new friends easier. Will improve the community massively!

@@noahmiller91 Ya I agree it's way too difficult to interact with players in-game. If you meet a player and invite them to a party after the match there's not even a chat box to talk to each other until you get into another game

As someone that only started playing age a few months ago because of t90, then worked up the nerve to play ranked only for me to start at 1000 Elo and suffer all the way down to something like 380 elo…you can absolutely take credit for the 500 elo dock…without your videos no way I grind up to 800. I refuse to learn hot keys and that’s ok, I’m happy winning and losing at 800. Carry on everyone!

I was 450 over a year ago with hotkeys, haven't played ranked since, both these guys would wreck me. I'm pretty sure I would be 300 right now, low elo has improved so much.

I think it's important to say I didn't play this game until I started randomly watching your videos at night go to sleep. Then I actually started listening and enjoying what was going on in the game, and got curious about it. I just picked it up on steam a few days ago, and now I'm looking at videos for build orders and fast castling... What a rabbit hole! Maybe I'll be able to compete one day haha.

It’s such a fun game. The cool thing is though it’s fun no matter what level you’re at, even if you don’t know any build orders. Playing against other humans is scary as crap of course, but also by far the most interesting experience because unless you’re at a high level, you NEVER know what’s going to happen.

it's odd, i've played multiplayer games pretty much all my gaming life, from halo 3, cod and others, and i've played a few ranked games in aoe2, (even won 1!) but I get nervous before a match starts in aoe2, the nerves start pretty much as soon as I decide I want to play a match, and I don't know why

Probably less time doing aoe2 and actually wanting to win? In the fps i play to win i don't get nervous since I've done it for so long I'm co fident even when I lose . With the games i am nowhere near as familiar and in a competitive enviorement in like oh shit here we go again And with as many variables on aoe2 it's understandable

This is actually easy to explain. AoE2 has so much depth to it's gameplay that it's natural to feel nervous. A shooter is way easier to pick up. It's comparing a math degree exam with a quick multiple choice test.

33:58 sappers also allows villagers to chop down trees in one swing, making them collect wood. And it gives villagers bonus dmg against rams

Such a fun game to watch, love your commentary. I learn a lot more by just watching your gameplay commentary than I do from tutorials. A lot of small details and just overall instinctive strategy. I’ve played this game since I was 13 y.o., back in 1999-it’s so awesome to see it is still enjoyed by many.

I havent played much AoE just some other RTS games but these matches are super exciting to watch! Also very nice commentary.

Incredible game. I'm 650 ELO and related to many of their mistakes, had a stupid smile on my face when you were surprised at blue's dock and face palmed right along with you during the near miss on 46 vils versus a 1 vil tower and then a dozen of them getting trapped. Never knew who was going to win until the final few minutes, laughed quite a few times and learned a thing or two to apply to my games as well. Peak AoE2 content; thank you T90 !

Saying that reds got it in the bag only for them to be crushed by 3 mangonels right after was the funniest thing I’ve seen in a minute

I never use docks on this map but im 1100 elo. Multitasking vils and playing aggressive is all i can handle. This match and your commentary helps, maybe i could multitask more.

I do the same thing! At 1050 I have had great success ignoring the water and going fast feudal aggression. I think many of us ‘know how to do water’ in theory but it’s just too much in practice when trying to manage early aggression. I’ve more recently had success by limiting my water ambitions to 4 fishing ships max, just thinking of it as a straight swap out of the mill/berries vills (first one builds the dock then fishes, the rest go to wood instead of food, and then the ships start coming out when poss). I’m sure there are better approaches, but at this way doesn’t slow me down or change too much about my build.

@@noobling8313 i totally agree with you. I completely feel you. Its hard as it is for us to multitask our vils and our army at the same time. I would say my win rate in this map os 50/50. When i win is cuz off my aggression and when i lose is cuz the opponent out eco me off fish and produced more, but we sure can improve on the matter and take map advantage

9:15 red has vision on that tc spot because he scouted 1 tile of the tc on the right side, so tc reveals that odd 2x2 tile in the middle when that happens. Its been in the game since the AoC game

I've been watching you for around 4 years now and haven't really played any games online. I can beat extreme on modern DE AI and have beaten nearly every campaign on hard mode, but for the love of god, I never seem to make it online. In any case, I probably owe any positive gaming experience to watching yourself and Viper. Maybe I'll just fall straight down to 550 ELO, maybe not, either way, it'll be interesting to see how well I do with all I've learned. Especially as I've practiced it in the extreme difficulty mode and win consistently with random civs. Thanks for all the content and wish me luck as I take the plunge this weekend :)

I think Heated Shot is a popular tech among people who play the AI a lot, because boy does the AI love to throw ships at towers and castles. It's a must have if you're playing, say, Team Islands with a couple of friends against the AI.

Heated shot is usually needed in story game play. So you might have story players trying to make transition to this game play.

I’m low ELO, but I am impressed that Red finished with more food than Blue. Blue had 3 docks with about 6-8 fishing ships each. Red finished with more wood, and I guess they focused on farms more than Blue. So was the farm priority that big of a difference?

58:10 Hitbox vision, it's not weird, what's weird is that as he's seen the hitbox, the model linked to hit should stay.

Watching those Halbs march to their death for 20 minutes due to a bad rally point just hurt my soul. Throwing away unsupported siege, missing upgrades, etc. Red threw in such a bad way. Not that I'd do any better of course.

That is in the realm of situational build order. Because fishing always yields different incomes depending on the map.

I'm not a very good player myself, buuuut the 1 to 2 villager attempts to build castles triggers me :D

OK, You make the walls around the dock to save the DOCK not the villager duuuhhh. And how is it that red lost the game DESPITE having at least NINE barracas? 😜The problem with fish traps is they cost a lot of wood in a stage of the game when wood is getting scarse. It all depends on the map layout though. Loved the game, loved the commentary despite the above. LEL is sooo entertaining.

Can you make waypoints with hunting? like have the vills rally a waypoint from each sheep so you don't have to manually click each sheep after one gets depleted...
