Seven innings and 10 strikeouts the next day. That's ridiculous! The man will give up one run in that start on the mound. othani. Would be the Cy Young award winner, if he only threw the ball. I believe the man would have had 15 or 16 wins, a significantly lower era, and 200 innings this season if he had focused only on pitching the baseball.

Shohei Ohtani just has a special aura about him. Hes a breath of fresh air, just a joy to watch. I wish him all the best for the rest of his MLB career.

Yeah me too. I surprise myself being able to watch an entire game, waiting to see Sho do something amazing. I used to switch channels when baseball highlights would come on during Sportscenter.

No matter what record the Angels have, Ohtani alone will still attract fans to the ballpark. Watching him play the game the way he does is truly remarkable

Shohei is a genuine all-rounder.

To me back to back triple is way more difficult than back to back homerun. He is so insane. Our MVP!!! Shohei Ohtani!!!

​@Chaser Blade how can one baseball player be expected to win baseball games? A pitcher can only start once every 5 (or 6) days and a hitter can only hit 4 or 5 times a game. Also, how is he supposed to help his team greatly as a hitter when pitchers are walking him 2 or 3 times a game because they're not afraid of the guys behind him? You sound like you don't know anything about baseball honestly. I would love to hear an explanation on how Vlad Jr. or oany other guy has contributed more to winning games than Ohtani. Btw the Jays are 4th in the AL East so that must eliminate Vlad too huh.

Probably true, although he has opened the door to a new generation of players who would want to emulate him. We might see new players try it but it will be a while before someone breaks it. Maybe only Ohtani can and will, hopefully.

Batting average doesn't matter anymore. Analytics favors strike outs over base hits in route to getting as much home runs as possible.

There’s a real chance Ohtani could end the season with: 45 HR, 100 RBI, 100 R, 100 BB, 25 SB, 160 OPS+ hitting, and 10 W, 150 K, 130 IP, 135 ERA+ pitching Split those up, and you have a top 25 hitter and a top 25 pitcher in the entire MLB. But combine those into the same player, and you have a once in a lifetime phenomenon!!

No guarantee that Vlad Jr will get the triple crown, but even if he did, Ohtani should still be the unanimous MVP.

Vlad's power has dried up in recent weeks, just like Ohtani's, although Vlad is still hitting for average. I still have a problem with an MVP who's had a crappy offensive second half like Ohtani, but the award is probably his now, barring some monster final week in which Guerrero carries the Jays to the wild card game all by himself and Shohei goes 0-for-rest-of-season, finishing under .250.

@@MrHmg55 If Ohtani was just a DH I would agree. But when you throw in his pitching numbers, he should be unanimous choice for MVP. Vlad is great, but just like Ohtani's Angels, Vlad's Blue Jays are likely going to miss the playoffs too.

These last two pitching performances, combined with Vlad's wimpy stretch, clinched the honor for Shohei. Honestly, like everyone else, I love watching him play the game. I just don't like the three-true-outcome guy he's become in the second half. Baseball has more than enough of those.
