Shoeing A Horse With A Huge Hole In It’s Hoof.
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
Hi I’m a farrier from the uk today i will be shoeing Stanley. Stanley was getting continuous abcesses in his hoof. After the vet came and looked at his hoof they discovered a keratoma.
The vet has given me instructions today to apply a straight bar shoe and a treatment in the area. He will be back in a few days to check on Stanley and to check any improvement.
If you want to see a part two let me know in the comment section.
Don’t forget to like and subscribe to my channel as I upload horse shoeing and trimming videos on a regular basis.
Hope you have a great day and I’ll see you on the next video 🤙

I will make sure to do a part two on Stanley. Make sure to subscribe and turn on notifications so the video will pop up for you 😊
I used to watch videos like this and thought the horse would be in pain during the process. But the more I watched the more I realized it’s like the horse went to a nail salon and actually was therapeutic to the horse.

Basically yeah it’s like getting a pedicure for the horse. What most people don’t realize is that a hoof is mostly one giant toenail.

Stanley is so well behaved, it appears that he fond of you as well. Thank you Peter, take care and I look forward to your next video. ❤️
Im new here and I just wanna say that I really appreciate the fact that you're explaining stuff as you go. Some people are quiet and that may be nice for some people, but I'm a curious person and I love to learn new stuff. Especially about animals. Great job!
I’ve never really thought about the knowledge, skills and hard work it is to do what you do, but bloody hell, I’m in awe. Just amazing, I’m fascinated 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
We are fighting chipped hoof (vertical, but not spreading) and that gave me nightmares from the start. Now I have seen this! I would also think it must be very painfull, but Stanley was comfortable :) And it really seems there is nothing what duct tape can´t fix!
Looks like Stanley has been a good patient n glad he's healing well , glad your back Peter I've missed your vids and hope the family is doing ok.

Hello Peter, very interesting video. I'd never heard of such a thing. I'm finding information on the Internet now. With hoof care; one needs to have somewhat if X-ray vision to keep our horses healthy and comfortable. Thank you Peter.
So glad you're back. Missed your videos. Hope you're feeling well. What beautiful horse. God bless you & your family. ❤❤❤
I’ve never seen anything like it 😮 I usually watch cow huff trimming videos and was surprised at how wide a horse white line could be 🤔 I always like to see follow up videos or see all their feet shod. Thank you Peter. 👍👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

@Liz-M...I bet that large white line is a sign of laminitis 😞...I hope Stanley's owners aren't giving him a lot of starchy hay.
🎉 great to see you back. Hope you are fine. Super vir. Yes please for part 2

Oh what excellent shoeing and care of the keratoma hole. Horse was chomping happily through- out- Wonderful job X
He is a handsome boy! I'm glad he has a good farrier like you to sort him out.
Hey there Peter, I hope this finds you well? 🙏 That was an unusual looking foot, you don't see one with a hole in it every day. Once again you did a fine looking job, and that old boy should be well on his way to a complete recovery after a couple more visits from you. I hope you have a good one! 🐎 👍 🇺🇲
A keratoma is a benign tumor of that grows inside the foot. It originates from the horn producing cells and causes abscesses. The hole in the hoof was from the vet going in to remove it. The precise cause of these tumors is unknown but trauma or chronic irritation are suspected. The removal of hoof horn during surgery can weaken the structural integrity of the hoof. So, horse shoes are used to stabilize it. The wound needs to be dressed until a layer of hoof horn starts to grow over it. Then the area can be filled with resin, etc. Antibiotics and pain medication are often prescribed during the healing processes. Since the tumors are benign, recurrence after removal is rare. They are typically diagnosed with an x-ray after multiple abscesses in the same location make a vet suspicious.
Your channel is very interesting. I could see you teaching young Farriers. Well done!😊 Cheers from Seattle, USA

I looked up Keratoma on the internet. There is a bit more info on there, for those who would like to know more. Stanley was lovely. As usual, you did a great job Peter. Very interesting video. We are always learning. 😊
Very nice indeed .I especially relate to farriers work as the possessor of constantly managing painful feet. 😊

Congratulations Peter and welcome back! I hope your wife and daughter are both doing well. You did a beautiful job on Stanley but can you tell me what a keratoma is exactly? I never have heard of it or seen one before this video. Why do horses get them? Thanks!! 😊❤
You are amazingly skilled

Nice job 👏
Please do part two!!😊
Great job 👍💥
I had to google keratoma to understand exactly what I was looking at. Thanks for another great video. Crack on!
Not a lot of moisture in that hoof, you can tell they've been kept on very dry, well deained surfaces. I understand that this can lead to some issues sometimes as well.
Good work you did❤it.

You do really nice work. I am from the US but live in Peru, SA As you might imagine it is quite difficult to find a reliable Farrier especially where I am at in the remote area. I have learned enough over the last 2 years ( only) to trim and shoe my own horse much to the credit of people such as you. I do have acquires an adequate set of tools to do the job but I have a question for you after watching your videos. What is the make of the Hoof knives you use? Thank you for posting. Now I need to get "Cracking" as you Brits say.
Yes, follow-up please! ✌🏻🎨☕️
