Great observations. I know that a lot of people aren't going to understand why I live as a full-time traveler and may even think it's crazy, but it's the path I've chosen for retirement. And it's a path that is perfectly suited to me. I can't spend my retirement years worried about what others think of how I'm living. I also tell everyone about the great hospital experience and surgery I had in Malaysia. Health care in Malaysia is amazing. I'm currently in KL and recently went to a dentist for a routine teeth cleaning and even that was phenomenal, better than the cleanings I get in the US...and very inexpensive. And minimalism is so liberating. Not having, needing, worrying about stuff is wonderful. Thanks for sharing! Safe travels!

Wow, I came here right in time. I just retired the end of March, 2024. The first 10 days of retirement, I spent with my sister who lives in Aruba. When I came home the first couple of weeks, I was lost. I was used to working everyday, and some times 2 jobs. But I'm getting used to it. I have made a pact with myself that I will not get out of bed until 9:30 through 10:00 in the morning. I've gotten up at 6:00am everyday from school to jobs. No, I need my rest. My income is higher not working than what I was getting when I was working., and its more than what I was earning leaving the house everyday. I just saw that Amtrak has the rail pass on sale for $499.00. I think that I'm going to get the pass and just ride the rails. I already have a cruise set for September for my birthday. I am going back to piano lessons, I have to keep my mind sharp. No I'm not getting another job. I've made investments that will pay off. Thank you for the encouragement.

I must be a weirdo because I want to be alone, do what I want, when I want. I don't really care about being relevant or making friends. 😂 I find I have a better time alone. Don't get me wrong, I have a small circle of long life friends. I think coming from a customer service job where you have people constantly in your ear. I'm looking forward to the silence.

Oh my word I was just saying this out loud today and it all stems from being in restaurant management for 20 years then retail management for 15 years....I am so tired of people demanding my energy ..... I like myself, enjoy my company and I don't want anyone else's drama or timeline. When I want to talk with people I do and when I want to be with me, I am. I have also found I enjoy animals and their sweetness much more than humans...LOL

BRAVO for living BRAVELY! I have so many colleages, friends and family member who have created their own prisons by life-style choices. I agree, do your research, be open and overcome minor obstacles. Put those learnings in your back pocket and forge on to the next adventure. I commend you two!

Oh my gosh, you are right on with the people who want to pick apart your plans, and there's no rational behind their opinion. But I just say, no worries, I am not planning a trip for you, I am planning a trip for us. Stuff occurs in life, whether you are home or abroad, so why not travel and have a great time. 😊

Really appreciate you guys doing these videos, it is very relevant for my wife and I since we just started our early retirement slow travel lifestyle. We are wondering about the feeling of relevance, not so much right now since we just retired but I know it will come.

Thank you for sharing your experiences. As one who is living a similar lifestyle, your insight and observations are inline with mine. I love the hut in Cambodia comment. Although it does sound like fun. Theres always someone out there, maybe even within our own personal circles, that will put a negative spin on every exotic, amazing experience. In the travel books you read for agent certification… it defines your type of traveler as Near-venturers. Based on your destinations… South Pacific, Japan, Parts of South America, Interior Mexico and Eastern Europe. But the Venturers also has some if your destinations too. Southeast Asia, India, Middle East, Russia and Africa . It’s a Psychographic Analysis. Most people only go up to Centric.

Centric destinations are Western Europe, UK, Caribbean, Mexican resorts and Hawaii. Because most people are Centric they will usually express fear about Venturers. So definitely expect that. My husband is Centric and I am Near Venturer… I’ve been trying to change his type.. but even though he was stationed in Korea… it is probably not going to change. He’s from Brooklyn girl! You would think he has no fear. 😂

@@GroundedLifeRetirementTravel When I first read that… I realized that it explained a lot about my family and their attitudes about travel. They are considered Dependables. They vacation close to home… Florida, the South, theme parks and occasionally Las Vegas. It’s a thing. And now you will start to notice, as I have… where people fall in the psychographic spectrum. When a client won’t go past cruising the Caribbean… I know they are probably Centric and I should show them mostly that type of travel. Sending them Bangkok or Japan information… total waste of energy most of the time 😆 That training has saved me so much time. FYI.. I was instantly attracted to y’all by your Asia posts.. Thank you 😊

top tips

My own experience has taught me that unless you have a real passion for something/anything outside of your work life, don't retire. I retired at 64 and there isn't a day goes by that I don't regret it. For me it's been pretty much a snoring festival. Kind of boring. That of course is on me to figure out, but don't just retire because you can. My three cents.

This is precisely the life mistake that far too many people make. Retire ASAP. Quit wasting your time in the desperate pursuit of money that you may or may not need. I retired at 47 to travel full time and can't even imagine what a waste of time working another 17 years would have been. If you are bored in retirement... 100% of the problem is in the mirror.

Hi guys! I found your channel in the last week and I’m loving it. I’m not ready to retire yet but I’m in the planning stage. Question for you…do you know any travelers with chronic health issues? My husband is a type one diabetic and we are looking for information about getting his medical supplies in other countries. Ally’s surgery info didn’t mention follow up. Like what do you do after you checked out of the hospital? Who takes care of you as you continue to travel? Thanks guys!

Frankly speaking, everyone who didn't die during the last 4 years was given a gift. We might as well use that gift of life and do all of the things that matter the most to us. I no longer put things off. I make time for family, friends, and exploring new places and cultures. We don't have an infinite budget, but we do what we can with what we have.

Thank you. We are inspired by your videos. Atmospher absorbing thru slow travel is our ideal mode of travel. However, timing is not quiet right for long-long trips (we have a 98 year old parent that needs us still). Next winter, 1 month in Bannock looks possible at a Hyatt, while working on globalist status. A good twoffer.

You are correct and saying all the right things but retirement depends on the mindset of the individual. You the retired person have to make your own plans.

We have drunk your Kool-aid to the letter, Thanks. Your approach is so direct and real as to finance and saving. We are thinking of a theme for a channel called "$1k per day Retirement!" Where we try to spend $1000 per day in retirement traveling the world. None of the channels except maybe "Stay Classy" focus on people that do not have a tight budget. I know this sounds bizarre but a professional couple with an average income of $150k each per year and savings for the last 30 years could easily spend that much. What they are doing may be of interest to others vs how similar what you do is at far less cost.

"Relevant", such a prescient word. It means much to many persons and in many contexts, but the minimum common denominator is being true to your idea of relevancy. We all want to feel useful. From Dog walking, to pet sitting, to honing skills in street photography, to questioning your own biases of philosophy, religion and politics by reading contrarian books and testing your pillars of belief, ...... relevancy is a well of deep waters. Putting the gray matter to work is the best "exercise" in one's latter years.

I'm thinking about doing this with family of 4. Have 2 younger children that virtually go to school. Definitely a different time.
