    The thing is my local service centre does no even have a torque wrench so how will the tighten the bolts to the correct spec?

  • @OnceARider

    In that case apply some medium strength ( blue color ) thread locker on the bolts and tighten them to the max possible.

    ...don't own an RE. But like those bikes. There is a youtube video around from a guy explaining how important those bolts are. If those are not tight the frame will take too much load. The engine - as stressed member - should take a big part of the load. If those bolts are loose there is a danger that the frame suffers damage from overload. Means: try to get a detailed description from RE how to proceed. Correct prestress / Torque on those bolts might be super critical. Good luck! Regards, Andreas

    Hi Andreas, Thank you for sharing that information and you are right, those bolts are super critical since engine is also a stress member, for now I have tighten those bolt with some medium strength thread lock and very soon I have to go for 2nd service. So will consult to the Engineers at RE service center.

    @@OnceARider great. The overall design will be fine. RE has to dig deep into the details and procedures why this strange problem shows up. And then there will be a fix. Good luck with your bike! Cheers, Andreas

    sad reality.. but I believe once vibrations get normalize after running couple of 1000s of km then the issue will be resolved. other than that adding a medium strength thread locker is advisable

    Even after tightening the bolts again its becoming loose after long rides ? Even i had few bolts including engine mounting bolts loose and got it tightened to in first service

  • @OnceARider

    Yes, looks like all the vibrations are getting transferred to the chassis as Engine is also a part stress member in Himalayan. I think we should apply thread lock to all the bolts and do regular inspection of bolts specially before long rides.

    It was launched in November 2023 but due to high demands, for most of the folks delivery started in December and I got mine in Jan 2024. Till now I have done approx. 3000km on the ODO and man it is a wonderful bike. You will fall in love with every ride. Power, suspension, handling, huge fuel tank and awesome fuel economy are some of it's Pros but list doesn't stops here. However there's one con specially for Indian market is: it is not available with Tubeless rims yet, there is some licensing issue with that, but for International market it is available with tubeless rims. And there are some quality check issue as shown in this video but not a deal breaker. Those minor issues can be fixed even at home easily.

    As u are saying right that even oem bokts getting loose..and they tight without any torque wrench even if u install oem crash guard theytight will nrmal alenkey without specific force..so just blaming after market crash guard is not good thing ..so if u install oem or after market connection point and bolt tighten is same as after market..only we canassume that oem guard is tested..and light weight to observe damage.. but if the oem is tested well what about other loosen bolts..so one experienced mechanic said to use lock tight gel for crash guard fitting to protect ..bolt to be loosen..n apart from that2 cases..in my group theirare atlest 7..8 himalayan but they dontface anny issue after long trip to ladakh..even my 2frnd went to ladkh ..n when they come i willupdate about their bikes durablity.. note 4 out of 5 frnds have after market guards..u r view on this durablity issue will guide us fruther what u say..??

  • @OnceARider

    @OnceARider

    Well, I would say there is no durability issue as such, just bit of negligence from RE service centers, they have skill gap. Since this is a all new engine and chassis design the local service centers are not aware about he issue which might occur. These are minor issues and can be fixed easily, since in this new chassis design the engine also a part of stress member so obviously it will transfer the vibrations to the chassis and bolts will come loose, they should have applied thread lock while installing the engine guard. So, I have done it myself now, will update soon if there are some new findings.

    @@gopichandransk yes.. it needs to be checked periodically.. in my case I used to get some rattling noise while on speed breakers or bmps but couldn't figure out from where the noise was coming, it is very difficult to identify even if the bolts are loose just by touch or looking. Finally after my last ride of 250kms it became so loose that it became visible and after tightening it all the noise went away. So I would suggest you notice any abnormal noise from the bike and do the needful.

    why its loos . i thing that engine haven't any support on front side and that's the design by company . and i don.t know why RE makes anti rust proof service every services . why should not provide the good material chassis . like other adv bikes other company.I haven't see this type of cassias broken issues other company bikes. i Have friend he brought the new RE Himalayan and it's broken after purchasing of 2month during the juarck . that loos bolt is not matter to broken the body . I think RE Need more Homework to do & Provide the good quality bikes to people . I love that 411 & that was a best ADV in that segment .

And this is a serious issue it's not possible for everyone to check the bolts daily and there are n number of bolts, what all you will check and how do you know if they are tightened to the spec. What seems to be snug to touch may not be tight as per spec.
