SHOCKING Statement From Mclaren: "We Can BEAT Red Bull!"

McLaren’s performance at the Chinese Grand Prix was a shock to many fans. While Lando and Oscar have looked fast this season, they have been firmly ranked as the third fastest team ahead of Mercedes and Alonso but behind Ferrari. It took some very clever strategy and a fortunate safety car or two but Norris managed to cross the line in a very impressive 2nd place for a well earned second podium of the season. That isn’t good enough for Lando Norris and the McLaren team though, they want race wins and they claim they aren’t far away from making that happen. Today I’m going to check out the upgrades McLaren have coming and how they are targeting a first ever F1 race win for Lando Norris this year, so don’t go anywhere.

Saving tire deg is HUGE! It will make other teams scramble with regards to race strategy, driving Ferrari to Plan Q,R and S.....LOL! Tire management is so key.

Yup tyre management is what makes Max so strong. The gap Max created in Japan, China lap after lap….each lap he had the better laptime, he kept it steady while other slowly climb in laptimes. McLaren is nowhere near Max in that RB20 on tyre deg. And Max isn’t even driving the car to its maximum…
They can beat 1 RB

Don't underestimate Norris or Piastri. If you give them a good car, they are both more than capable of competing at the top.

75 % of the grid would do that. If any driver gets the fastest car and designed to suit his driving style. That driver will win like mv is doing it.

He could have won in China... if Verstappen had had a car failure like in Australia! Otherwise I really don't see that coming in the near future.

If Lando can get P2 on a track no one thought they would be strong at. Maybe McLaren can do something similar to last year and catch Redbull. There are a lot of races still to go, the only question is can they continue to improve the car.

😂 they were SLOW in Japan on a track they expected to be fast, they were fast in China where they expected to be slow… lol That means THEY DONT UNDERSTAND THE CAR. And they are further behind Max than last season….the gap is bigger not smaller. And you ppl seem to think only McLaren comes with updates 😂😂 and not RBR 😂
If they don't believe it, they'll never do it.

Lando can battle with Checo as seen in China with his P2 finish. But Max and his car are in another league all by themselves. Once he completes the necessary pitstop(s)and gets a lead, it’s just a matter of how many seconds he’ll finish ahead of the next person. 🏎️ 🚀

Even if they will be on pair with RB and especially Max at some point.. they need a driver to bring it home...beating Perez is possible...

Lando IS the driver to bring that home. In my opinion he's a quick, calm and thoughtful driver since he began in F1, so I don't have any doubts that he can do that.
A virtual safety car and 2 safety cars and sure Norris came second 14 seconds behind Max and he thinks he’s going beat Max this year. I’m sure Red Bull won’t stand still and will bring updates during the season

Remember what happened last year. They said they’d have upgrades and they did. They went from backmarkers to front runners. I can see Lando winning this year and maybe even Oscar if he does a repeat of last years sprint

😂😂😂😂😂😂 the gap has been bigger to Max than end of last year 😂and you think RBR won’t come with updates? Seen the laptimes in China/Japan? The huge gap Max creates LAP AFTER LAP cos he simply keeps his tyres strong… AND he isn’t driving to the limit of the car, he doesn’t have to…
Press statements are easy but capitalizing on Checo's lack of form is NOT...beating Max Verstappen with no problems, which is usually the case. 😄

Red Bull might be easier to beat when Ford takes over. We shall see. A more competitive field race to race would be a welcome change and better for F1.

Ford has nothing to do with RBR 😂 Ford is ONLY a sticker sponsor for the Red Bull Powertrains engine 😂 They don’t manufacture it. Horner said that Ford only advises on the battery. That’s it. Red Bull Powertrains themselves build the engine, with former Honda and former Merc engine engineers in the new factory
