The dishwasher pods have 3 different agents in them- detergent, rinse aid, and additives . I prefer the gel dishwasher detergent, but I also buy a rinse agent. With the gel, I can put a drop on top of the dish soap dispenser, and it gives the pre- rinse a boost. I had to go online to read the instructions for my dishwasher, as these machines don’t seem to come with instructions anymore.🌺

And he proved it when he got to the clog in my pipes, it was clogged with the pod residue. He said to only use powdered dishwasher detergent. The pods don''t completely dissolve.

It’s hard to test these because it depends on your water hardness. You need something more concentrated like Cascade Platinum or Finish Quantum for harder water conditions I’ve learned over the years. But for soft water plus using rinse aid, less is more!! The Cascade Complete is almost just as good as their higher end Platinum series, just a few less chemicals they use in it is all. Awesome video!!

I don't have a dishwasher, so I do handwash all my dishes. I do turn my water off, or down to a trickle, as I wash things & try to rinse more than one item at a time. Even if I did have a dishwasher, a lot of my dishes are antiques, vintage, depression, or crystal which I would not run through one. I have not had or used a dishwasher in over 30 years & the one we had was a portable one that ended up being used as an additional cupboard & countertop cutting board surface. My current kitchen does not have the floor space for one as it is a galley kitchen.

Same here. I even lived in an apartment with free utilities and a dishwasher but I just preferred washing by hand. However not all people feel that way. My sister is repulsed by hand washing because she feels it doesn’t sanitize the dishes enough. She will eat off a paper plate before eating off a plate washed by hand. I’ve heard others share the same sentiments so just be aware not everyone will want to drink out of your cups if they find out you wash by hand.

How well your dishwasher works and the temperature of your water are bigger factors than soap in my experience. We have had three different dishwashers and our current one is so good we can put the dirtiest dried on dishes in there with any detergent and the dishes come out great every time. Previous dishwasher (more expensive too), needed the hot water to be turned up so high and only cleaned well with certian detergents.

For others, don’t ever use laundry pacs in the dishwasher because they are designed to get sudsy, and it will oversuds the dishwasher which puts a lot of strain on the motor. I think it’s the dishwasher and hot water (plus the over 3-hour wash time) more than the detergent. I got a new Kitchenaid dishwasher a year ago to replace the same brand that died after 18 years (wouldn’t heat water, so gave an error message). I’ve only used Kroger cheapo pods and every load has come out spotless with one exception (peanut butter is the only thing that defeated it by leaving slight streaks on knives used to spread it). I only remove stuck-on egg yolk and mash potato remains and won’t purposely leave grease.

You using a laundry pod in the dishwasher made me laugh as this is something I would totally do ( I’m very easily distracted). The only reason I avoid incidences like this is because I keep similar things completely separate. My vitamins and medicine upstairs and our pet medicine downstairs (don’t ask why I started doing this 😂), dishwasher tabs in kitchen and dishwashing pods in laundry room, bleach in basement and vinegar/water mixture in bathroom, salt in a specific well-labelled small container in the kitchen cupboard and sugar in the basement pantry in a much larger container… everything similar is well separated at my house, lol.

I happen to live in a part of the United States that is facing a water shortage because the water we are owed contractually is being held hostage by Mexico. I know what it is to be under water restriction, so I try to be as conservative as I can, but I think for most Americans, we have really never lived in a time of want like those who were in the great depression did. There probably are a handful of people who were of age during the great depression alive today who truly get it, and I think that we, as a nation, are going to be in for a very rude awakening with shortages, rationing and prices that are outrageously outrageous.
