    There are around 1.1 million football players that compete in high schools. Only 6.5% get a chance to play in NCAA Division 1, 2, and 3. Of those who are lucky enough to make it to college football, only 1.6% make it to the NFL. The primary reason is the players’ roster, as there are only 350 positions available in the draft.

    I think that speaks to the culture. "Everyone can do anything." What she said is her actual thoughts, "This looks dangerous. Not everyone can do this." Not a culturally accepted idea was expressed and she got embarrassed by it after realizing what she said.

    That one play where the guy in all blue ran down the whole field, pushing guys off him was only the second time in NFL history that a guy has run down the entire field and scored. That same guy in the video is also only the 7th player to ever run for 2000 yards in a single season. Derrick Henry, "The King".

    Not really. I'm not going to get into a discussion about which is better, more physical or anything else. IDC, but American football has diverged so much it's hardly comparable outside a few similar concepts. Aussie rules is probably the closest I've seen and even that isn't very close.

    I like to describe American football as Violent Chess. It is perhaps the most strategic sport in the world. The individual plays are incredibly complicated to the point where even die hard fans often times don't understand what is going on. The guy throwing the ball has to memorize a thousand different plays...every year. You really can't comprehend how complicated this game is unless you watch a lot of it. And yes, it is incredibly violent and guys get hurt a lot playing this game. There have even been some deaths. The last major incident in the NFL happened about ten years ago where a guy got paralyzed from the neck down during a play.

    Idk, I'd consider Damar Hamlin a pretty major injury happening on the field. It wasn't a devastating hit, but it just proves how dangerous the game could be. Plus all the really bad acl tears like Nick Chubb or Dak Prescott a few years ago. Footballs is definitely a dangerous sport not everyone can play.

  • @dalehammers4425

    @dalehammers4425

    @@EXISTENTIALization Hamlin was most likely not football related and vaccine related though, if we really want to be honest about it. But do agree it was insane, he literally died on the field.

    Neither of these people are familiar with American Football. Just because you can say; “NFL”, doesn’t make you familiar with its rules and regulations. It’s one of the most complex sports played on the planet, if not the most complex. It’s like 11 vs 11 chess, all pieces move at the same time, not all chess pieces are equal to each other, and there is a time factor involved. It’s essentially a 4 dimensional chess game with every piece being able to move in all directions. It is so complicated that the rule book is presented as a search function rather than a PDF or Text File. There are that many rules that are based on circumstances and conditional measures that no one person can know it all. This is why we commonly see Referees coming together to discuss a ruling on the field, as well as being in constant digital contact with the head office in New York to determine a play call. It seems slow to foreigners, but American Football is more like chess than an action sport. The players are some of the most physically fit in the world, including Olympic level sprinters, European Football/Soccer kickers, and many more. This is a statistically driven game, very mathematically and scientifically based. College/University Football is more popular than the NFL (National Football League) in America because of the physical size of country. The Average American is closer to a College/University team than an NFL team, especially in the middle of the country that’s not on the East Coast (on the Atlantic Ocean) or West Coast (on the Pacific Ocean). Give some grace to our beloved game because it’s much more complex than you could ever imagine. It’s not just throwing or running a ball forward towards a line. It’s a creed and culture in this country of mine. The average American Football tackle is semi-harmful, maybe a little numbness. The hard-hitting tackles have measured as being in a head-on collision at 30 mph (49 kph). This is two vehicles colliding at 30 mph (49 kph) head to head. It’s probably the most violent sport in the world besides fighting sports like MMA. More blood gets drawn in Rugby, but that because of the “scrims” they have and chase tackling. That’s when players line up close to each other and bash together at about 15 mph (24 kph) or get tackled on the move toward the goal line. There is a reason why the only fully Asian American football player is a kicker. Younghoe Koo, I believe he is Korean-American. Great kicker of the football.

    It would help present the true nature of football at the collegiate or NFL levels by showing a couple of typical Koreans on the sidelines next to the players. The players on the field, except for the occassional small, super-fast guys, are very large men playing against other very large men, and somebody new to the game won't be able to immediately see their size in comparison to normal folks. For example, you can't really tell in that long Derrick Henry TD run that the man sprinting so fast the length of the field is over 245 lbs.

    Interesting that the male commenter said it's like a car accident. They did a study and found that the hits in the NFL are equivalent to driving a car into a solid wall at 35 mph. So, for instance, a linebacker hitting a running back is the same as a car wreck at 35 mph.

  • @dalehammers4425

    @dalehammers4425

    6 күн бұрын

    Was actually about 35 mph or roughly 53 kph. For 50+ both runners would have to run 25 mph each, and there isnt anyone in the league that does that, let alone 2 hitting each other. Even players like Tyreek Hill barely touch 22 mph.
